Just got mine earlier. Made mine too, and it's been sent on. There are a few songs I recognise here, from the bits I listened to, so I'll give this a listen, and do a live review.

1. Oooh, sounds quite atmospheric. Shoegazey, even. Makes me think of a few bands. Does seem to plod a long, but somehow makes that good thing.

2. I love the melody in this song. Plus it's in 3/4 too, which is rather a nice time signature. Gradually building over time. Really, really like this.

3. Hmm, this sounds very good indeed. Obvious shoegaze track - I rather like where this is going.

4. I KNOW THIS FUCKING SONG. It's by a band I REALLY like, just can't place the name of the song. I know it's a b-side though.

5. Right, a live track. Focus is on the guitar here. Rather liking the vocals too, even though I'm totally not into this kind of thing.

6. Know this too. It's one of the best tracks on the album it's taken from, and that sound around four minutes in continues to scare the living shit out of me.

7. Ah, this makes a nice change. Bit more subdued. A little bit twee, even.

8. DRUMS. Very full-on track, this. Right up my street.

9. And we're back into atmospheric territory. Nice ambience going on. It goes places too. I like.

10. Know this as well. Can't recall the name of it at the moment, but I'm a big fan of the band.

11. Best unheard-of track on the thing so far. Beautiful.

12. Know this, guitar sound gave it away right off. The album it's taken from is one of the best released this decade, IMO.

13. More acoustic stuff, yay! It's an instrumental too. All good in my book.

14. OH MY FUCKING GOD, I LOVE THIS SONG. Already know it, 'tis fucking awesome.

15. I commend whoever sent this to me on choosing this song. Makes the perfect closer. I can place the band, but not the song.

A resounding success, I say. 9.5/10. Thank you!

yay! a review, finally! This was my mix, and I'm so glad you liked it. :D

1. "Beautiful Mind" by The Verve off of "A Storm In Heaven". The best song off their lesser known debut album. As you mentioned its the closest to shoegaze they ever were.

2. "The Big Ship" by Brian Eno off of "Another Green World". I love the churning drums, and especially the guitar that takes over halfway through.

3. "Blown A Wish" by My Bloody Valentine off of "Loveless". Probably the most accessible on the album, though it was a nice, warm, change of pace.

4. "How I Made My Millions" by Radiohead off of "No Surprises (single)". Here I thought, 'Chris, are you seriously going to put a radiohead song on your mix? Its almost as obvious as putting coldplay!' But its a b-side, and I'm so attached to this song that I just had to include it.

5. "River Of Tears" by Eric Clapton off of "One More Car, One More Rider". Thought it was a nice change. I ran across this performance on you-tube and was just blown away by the guitar solo.

6. "Vessel" by Jon Hopkins off of "Insides". Here the mixtape starts alternating between instrumentals and straight forward pop/rock songs. First it was gonna be 'Cold Out There', then I changed it to 'Colour Eye', and finally to this.

7. "Stephanie Says" by The Velvet Underground off of "VU". I'm a sucker for contrast, and since there was nothing on the mix as light and simple as this one, there ya go...

8. "23" by Blonde Redhead off of "23". My brother turned me on to this one. Vocals can get tiring over the course of an album, but this song is definitely a gem IMO.

9. "Boy 1904" by Jonsi & Alex off of "Riceboy Sleeps". This album came out just last month and i ts basically a side project of sigur ros frontman Jonsi Birgisson with his boyfriend. I love it because its ambient, but with all acoustic instruments/sounds, so it has a unique, organic feel. I love the voices on this track.

10. "Sleep The Clock Around" by Belle & Sebastian off of "The Boy With The Arab Strap". One of my favorite 'Belle' songs, catchy indie pop is always a safe bet.

11. "Blumenthal" by Ulrich Schnauss off of "A Strangely Isolated Place". The upshot of including a Schnauss track is that you may not have heard it, the downside is I thought it might be boring. Originally I had the track 'Passing By...' before changing to this, I'm really glad you liked it!

12. "Leif Erikson" by Interpol off of "Turn On The Bright Lights". Obvious band/album, but at least its a non-single, and one of my favorite off the album.

13. "Silhouettes In Sunsets" by Feltbeats off of "Silhouettes In Sunsets(single)". Feltbeats as in Felton, as in Tom Felton, as in the dude who plays Draco Malfoy in the HP movies :P. Ran across him on you-tube, and the guy is actually pretty talented.

14. "Teen Angst" by M83 off of "Before The Dawn Heals Us". Straight forward electronic adrenaline rush. I knew you'd recognise it, but I'm glad we both love it!

15. "Samskeyti" by Sigur Rós off of "( )". Even though its track three on the album, I can't think of a better, more beautiful track to end a mixtape. It was good enough for the "Heima" DVD...

I worried a ton about this tape, so I'm extremely excited to get a 9.5/10 . Thanks so much for the review!

Ooh, thanks for all the detail! :nice:

Well, let's see:

2. Drums. Very cool beginning; somewhat reminds me of Devotchka. I like this a lot! An instrumental track and quite different from the one before

A last minute inclusion & I'm not sure why I picked this over the others on this album...if you really liked this check out their other songs if you can (on their myspace), cos the singer's voice is amazing...very soulful. Quite a new band, they are Australian. Kind of electronic-indie. Pretty good.

--- 2. Drum Song - The Temper Trap (2009)

5. Cool beginning. Is this a cover? I really really like this one. "Relaaax!" Has a bit of 70s rock influence in it, I'd say.

No, not a cover, it's brand spanking new, tho' it does sound very retro I agree. This is the one band I wanted to showcase, hoping I could win them over some new fans. (Track 16 is theirs too) The are a London band, indie-folk I think they describe themselves. I'm not even sure if they have been signed yet and they have been likened to Fleet Foxes quite a lot, but I think they are rockier and more upbeat. Again, they have their songs on myspace - check 'em out :D

--- 5. Oh Really - Goldheart Assembly (2009)

8. Very cool guitar work. "nanannana" Is it the same artist as the 5th one? Awesome. Can't wait to see who this is!

No different band entirely, tho the singers' voices are quite alike, so I see why you would think that. Very Brit-pop era band. They were a biggish name in 90's, had a very Indian/Asian feel to some of their music. I loved them! (still do). They are still going strong I believe. This song is a cover, apparently it's a Deep Purple song..but their version was a cover too..

--- 8. Hush - Kula Shaker (1997)

11. This one is very nice. Poppish as well. But I very much like it.

Another Swedish band that I've only recently discovered so I don't know much about them. Despite their name, they are a band, not one person. Their current single has been on the radio a lot lately but this one was on their myspace page and I liked it better than the single.

--- 11. Song For No-one - Miike Snow (2009)

14. Nice at the start. Violins. Quiet nice and catchy. I like it; very cheery.

Another old-school band that I could talk at length about. More 90's Brit rock, this reminds me of teenage summers :D I really included this song for the fiddle, more than anything. I think there should be more songs these days with violin like this. I love how it ends.

--- 14. Here Comes Everyone - The Wonder Stuff (1991)

16. Ukulele. Sounds live. It's quite nice :)

Live - yep. Ukulele - yep :D This song was called The Uke Song at one point, but I think it's correct title is Bodies Underground. Same band as track 5, but shows a folkier, quieter side to them.

--- 16. Bodies Underground - Goldheart Assembly (2009)

I will definitely be checking these guys out. :D

If you got any preferable albums to recommend, I'd appreciate it.

10. I really like this one. Is it old? It's poppish, still I like it a lot. Some really good guitar work in it.

And you should like it - it's great! Old? Yeah, very. This is one of my favourite bands and I could talk for hours about them. I had to include one of the tracks off their debut album cos that album is 20 years old this month. This band/album has been a major influence on hundreds of bands since then imo. There's loads of their tracks I could have picked, but some are fairly recognisable. This is one of the leser-known but still brilliant ones. Aw, I'm very glad you liked this - you won't be disappointed if you check out their other stuff :D

--- 10. Made of Stone - The Stone Roses (1989)

I think I've heard of them before! It was a really good song. What album should I start with? :)

12. Quiet, acoustic beginning. Women's voice. Adele, is it? Sounds like her though I don't know her music that well so I'm not sure. I quite like this and how it takes up. Her voice is amazing :)

Not Adele, but similar. This girl is Scottish, very young; kind of folky, very acoustic sound. This was one of only two tracks I included especially for you (Mew was the other ;)) based on some of your last.fm artists, I kind of guessed/hoped you might like this.

--- 12. Run - Amy McDonald (2007)

I know her! I've seen one or two songs for her on the TV and liked them. But I'll check her out now. :)

13. Very different approach now. A bit of electronica. This I really like. Didn't expect it, honestly. Deffintely a standout.

This band I  at the moment especially the current album - it's been a highlight of 2009 for me. I wanted to put one of the singles on here, but wasn't sure how recognisable they were, so I stuck the instrumental on instead. I highly recommend the rest of this album.

--- 13. Swarfiga - Kasabian (2009)

I'm so glad you chose them for the mix! I heard "Underdog" on the TV a while back and I really liked it but I was a bit hesitant whether to get the album or not but I think I will now. And what would you recommend me from their earlier work?

15. Ah, this one is Mew's! :) But I don't know it. New album, is it? Still haven't listened to it. But I'm glad to see them on here.

Yes! Mew :) ahhhh, I just love Mew. I knew I had to include some on my mix, then I matched with you, saw Mew on your last.fm page and had to take Small Ambulance off! :P I noticed you didn't have any of their new stuff listed so added this one for you. It's off the new EP, a definite b-side but one of their better b-sides imo. Relaxing and chilled. The new album is great, I highly recommend it. :D

--- 15. Swimmer's Chant - Mew (2009)

Good to hear it's great! I'll be getting it soon, for sure :D

17. People chattering in the background. Weird sounds. Interesting way to end the mix. Women's voice takes over. I like it so far. Takes up now. Is this Icelandic? Or not, I'm not sure. It's quite nice, nevertheless. I would say it's Sigur Ros too but it's not Jonsi's voice, so I don't know.

A Welsh band, again Britpop, but this was one of only a few tracks of theirs sung in Welsh. It was one of those hidden, bonus tracks that you get at the end of a cd and I wanted my mix to feel like it had a bonus track at the end, so I stuck it on. Plus, I adore this song. I'm glad you liked it :D Cool that you thought it sounded like SR, but really the two bands are not alike at all.

--- 17. Gyda Gwen - Catatonia (1996)

Honestly, I did think of Welsh at first as it sounded like English but then I heard some letters being pronounced like Icelandic which got me confused hehe. But again, I'm glad you chose them for the mix! It was quite cool to hear some Welsh :D

-------

Thanks a lot again for the mix and all the work put in it. I really enjoyed it :D

i missed this, shit. but definitely going to sign up for September round.

Track 1:

Even from the first second it already gives a great impression. A sudden change is expected, but I was really shocked. It turns out to be just an interlude that leads to a heart-tearing piano stunt. Minor chords here and there to my liking. Oh it melts me like Elbow. I immediately love this song.

Track 2:

First, I thought it wouldn't be my cup of tea. A bluesy rock tune. A short one, only 2.59. It reminds me of Lenny Kravitz. Some wild guitar solo for outro. Second, for me it's the kind of song that requires multiple times of listening.

Track 3:

It sounded like a crossover between American and British music, maybe they're from Atlantis. It's like Goo Goo Dolls singing an Oasis song. Kind of repetitive. I was expecting a certain jump or at least progression, but it never came. And a long one too. Maybe lyric is their strong point, but it's hard to decipher.

Track 4:

The vocalist doesn't sound like he's fluent in English. But his voice is frail, the kind that would be magical if he sings the right song. The song slowly builds up, as contrary to track 3. It ends in a fade out manner but I think it was abrupt; it’s like missing the last part. Nevertheless I like it.

Track 5:

I have a mixed feeling about this song. I dislike the arrangement. The melody and the chords are good, but it mixed up in Jet's music style. The piano riff is brilliant though. I wish it could be a piano-only acoustic record.

Track 6:

Retro-ish intro, back to the British invasion era. Like track 6, the good guitar riff and vocal are mixed with rhythm that I don't really keen on. Not my cup of tea.

Track 7:

I love, love, love, love this song. One Evening by Feist. Her voice is soft, with some enticing accent. The kind of voice that can drown you in her bad intentions. The bassline discreetly leads the song. Small details orderly scattered, makes it complete. (Her album disappoints me though)

Track 8:

I felt like the first time I listened to Space. At first I was thinking, man your vocal sucks! But I then opened up to him, because his voice is in fact exciting to hear and listen to. The sounds funny, well maybe funny is not the right word. I’ll stick with exciting. Strange lyric, which is good. The song is kind of repetitive but I was willing to follow him all through the song. I like it.

Track 9:

I like the drums, blaring cymbals tuned to play only softly in the background. I failed to see uniqueness though. The guitar solo at the end is good and a wee bit Jonny-like (I'm not saying that It's good because it's Jonny-like), but it would fit a more depressing arrangement better. But again this is a song that I have to learn to like. It grew on me at take two.

Track 10:

It sounded raw, like a demo. I can't say much about this song. It left a weak impression, even after second hearing. Sounds like Coldplay at their pre-Parachutes era.

Track 11:

At first the vocal sounds annoying. But the song itself is good and fits the vocal. A thread of guitar riff perfectly placed on the chorus. A somewhat simplistic drumline fits the song well. It ends well too. In general I like the song, or maybe more (yeah, definitely more).

Track 12:

It started out good. The vocal is good. But as it progressed to the chorus, I felt underwhelmed. Even the vocal gets a little annoying. And then an excessively long interlude which turns out to be an outro. Okay, I got a little biased because it doesn't sound like what I expected, so I'll restart.

I still think that the drum is too epic for the song. It will fit radiohead-ish song better. The melody is good. But each instrument sounds somewhat crashed into one. Like a band which members have so many egos, and they play for themselves rather than for the band.

It will take me a while to appreciate this song.

Ooh, thanks for all the detail! :nice:

Well, let's see:

I will definitely be checking these guys out. :D

If you got any preferable albums to recommend, I'd appreciate it.

Wow..I'm flattered you like my choices and you want to know more about them  Wow, where do I start...

- The Temper Trap; new band so debut album only came out this month here. It's called Conditions but last I knew it was streaming on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/thetempertrap There's a couple of good singles from there; Lost Love and Sweet Disposition.

- Kula Shaker; Their debut 'K' I would recommend; lots of different sounds on there. Listen to some of it here http://www.last.fm/music/Kula+Shaker/K

- Miike Snow; There's a debut, self-titled album, I believe but I haven't got it yet. I heard tracks on myspace. http://www.myspace.com/miikesnow

- The Wonder Stuff; Their third album has the track you've heard and is probably the most accesible and poppy "Never Loved Elvis" But the previous one, "Hup" is better, less poppy and folkier. This band is still going so there's loads of albums, all fairly different.

- Goldheart Assembly; new band so no album yet. A mini-album is due in October. If you use iTunes, you can buy their single So Long St Christopher on there. Or listen here - http://www.myspace.com/goldheartassembly (I was going to link you to last.fm but it's not working right now, but they are there too :D)

I think I've heard of them before! It was a really good song. What album should I start with? :)

They only made two albums before splitting up; but there's a couple of different best of compilations; The Stone Roses, the selftitled debut is an absolute must have for anyone imo ;) Other than that maybe The Very Best of...(from 2002)

I know her! I've seen one or two songs for her on the TV and liked them. But I'll check her out now. :)

:) Album's called This is The Life

I'm so glad you chose them for the mix! I heard "Underdog" on the TV a while back and I really liked it but I was a bit hesitant whether to get the album or not but I think I will now. And what would you recommend me from their earlier work?

Album 3 is very good. Album 1 is good too (Again, self titled - the singles LSF or Club Foot you're bound to have heard before..) I'm not too fussed on the 2nd one.

Good to hear it's great! I'll be getting it soon, for sure :D

That's streaming on myspace too. Wow, I didn't realise I used myspace so much...

Thanks a lot again for the mix and all the work put in it. I really enjoyed it :D

You've very welcome - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for making my first ME experience an enjoyable one. Can I add you on last.fm now..? I've been dying to all week..;)

Some more mixtapes sent out.

3 people left to submit

thanks to whoever uploaded my mixtape link. I just recieved it. I will download sometime today and review will be up by tomorrow.

Wow, I just read through all of the reviews and everything... I even downloaded some songs. :D I really liked your mixtape, The_Escapist. :nice: I didn't download all the songs, but I might later. I'm really glad you included that OneRepublic song... I think their album is hugely underrated. All Fall Down was one of my favorites.

thankyou. that really means a lot to me.

You've very welcome - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for making my first ME experience an enjoyable one. Can I add you on last.fm now..? I've been dying to all week..;)

Yay, I'll add all of these to my music-to-download list.

And yes, of course you can :nice:

Round 5 won't probably be until Christmas time

Okay, here's my review.

Track 1:

Even from the first second it already gives a great impression. a sudden change is expected, but it still shocked me. It turns out to be just an interlude that leads to a heart-tearing piano stunt. Track 3:

It sounded like a crossover between American and British music, maybe they're from Atlantis. It's like Goo Goo Dolls singing an O

So, this was mine. But the review has been eaten

Got my mixtape and I'm downloading it right now. This is exciting!

So, this was mine. But the review has been eaten

Fixed :)

I'm not sure what I expected to hear when I started listening, but overall I really liked my mix. Most of it was stuff I'm not used to hearing and I can't wait to check out some more about a couple of these artists. Thanks mysterious mixtape maker!

1. Very calming and very soft. I really enjoy instrumentals so I liked this as a beginning song with the indecipherable women singing softly in the background. It kind of reminded me of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack elvish singing in that regard, but with the alien-like instrumentation definitely was something I've never heard before. And thats a good thing.

2. Made me jump with the sudden guitar after such a soft ending to the first. Wasn't very sure about this on the first listen but now I kind of love it. I don't know what language he was singing in as I am horrible with languages, but I did enjoy his voice. Made me listen to the instruments a bit more since I couldn't center myself on lyrics and I really liked the wobbly guitar in the background during the verses and thought the rhythm section was pretty amazing throughout. Definitely want more of this.

3. Slow once again. A little too repetitive and a little too long for my tastes. Kind of reminded me of Alexi Murdoch vocally and lyrically. I'm guessing this one is a grower and can see myself appreciating it more in a week, but right now I just want to hit fast foward.

4. I'm not very fond of female vocalists in general and this woman really didn't break that trend. She actually reminded me vocally of a Playhouse Disney singer my little sister loves and the beat and piano go right along the lines of those type of songs. The lyrics I thought were rather good, but that alone didn't redeem this song for me.

5. Was this the same singer/band as track 3? The singers voices sounded very similar to my ear. Unlike number three, however, I realllly liked this track. It has a good beat that quickly dragged me in. I particularly liked the last 20 seconds or so where that little guitar part kicked in.

6. This is Amy Winehouse, right? Ive always thought her voice was amazing, though I've never really looked further into her music than radio singles. This song in particular had a wonderful hauntingly beautiful background to her honey-like voice that I really enjoyed.

7. Eh. Didn't like this track very much. Her voice just really annoyed me throughout making it hard to appreciate anything else. The instrumental from about 2:20 to 3:00 was the best part.

8. Woahhhh there, where'd that O Fortuna remix come from?! Very sudden, very upbeat and a good power song, much too short. Awesome to the 10th power.

9. Nice African drum beat alongside a modern synth-sound in this one. Unlike others, this woman's voice highlighted the song nicely in two short sections as opposed to killing it with overuse. Nothing like what I listen to normally, but I still enjoyed it immensely.

10. I know this voice. I know that I know this voice, but I can't place it. I also know that as soon as you say who this is I'll hit myself on the forehead. Regardless, I love this kind of cheesy music and, despite the cliche lyrics (la la la la la la la life is wonderful) I loved this song and will listen to it ad nauseum. Thank you!

11. JAMMO JAMMO! FINICULI, FINICULA! :laugh3: I LOVE this song, its so much fun! Opera is not really my thing, but really, who doesn't love singing along to this one? I'm used to Pavarotti alone (with choir), but this version is great as well.

12. Great cover. Only thing I could have done without was the drums near the very end, but thats just me nitpicking. Beautiful and calming any way you spin it and a great way to end the mix.

I made it :) I'm glad you didn't slaughter me with words.

1. Enya - Aldebaran (Enya, 1987/The Celts, 1992)

It's in Irish Gaelic

lyric

Codladh fada,

Codladh domhain.

Éirigh! Amharc síos

Aldebaran.

Siúil liom tríd an réalta dearg.

Deireadh, deireadh an turas.

Réaltóg, réaltóg dearg.

translation

Long sleep,

Deep sleep.

Rise! Look down

Aldebaran.

Walk with me through the red star.

The end, end of the journey.

Star, red star.

2. Padi - Sang Penghibur (Tak Hanya Diam, 2007)

This one is Indonesian. I put it here in case you didn't like the first song :P

lyric

Sang Penghibur

setiap perkataan yang menjatuhkan

tak lagi ku dengar dengan sungguh

juga tutur kata yang mencela

tak lagi ku cerna dalam jiwa

aku bukanlah seorang yang mengerti

tentang kelihaian membaca hati

ku hanya pemimpi kecil yang berangan

tuk merubah nasibnya…

oh... bukankah ku pernah melihat bintang

senyum menghiasi sang malam

yang berkilau bagai permata

menghibur yang lelah jiwanya

yang sedih hatinya

yang lelah jiwanya

yang sedih hatinya

ku gerakkan langkah kaki

di mana tempat akan bertumbuh

ku layangkan jauh mata memadang

tuk melanjutkan mimpi yang terputus

masih ku coba mengejar rinduku

meski peluh membasahi tangan

lelah penat tak menghalangiku

menemukan bahagia

oh... bukankah ku pernah melihat bintang

senyum menghiasi sang malam

yang berkilau bagai permata

menghibur yang lelah jiwanya

yang sedih hatinya

yang lelah jiwanya

yang sedih hatinya

yang lelah jiwanya

oh... bukankah ku bisa melihat bintang

senyum menghiasi sang malam

yang berkilau bagai permata

menghibur yang lelah jiwanya

bukankah hidup ada perhentian

tak harus kencang terus berlari

ku helakan nafas panjang

tuk siap berlari kembali

berlari kembali

melangkahkan kaki

menuju cahaya

bagai bintang yang bersinar

menghibur yang lelah jiwanya

bagai bintang yang berpijar

menghibur yang sedih hatinya

The Entertainer

every disparaging word

I don't really hear them anymore

also deprecating remarks

my soul no longer digest them

I'm not a person who understands

about the ability to read hearts

I'm just a little dreamer who fantasise

to change his fate

Oh... haven't I seen the stars

a smile that adorns the night

that gleams like a jewel

to comfort those with weary souls

those with sorrowful hearts

those with weary souls

those with sorrowful hearts

I start my stride

at the place to grow

I set my eyes to gaze afar

to carry on the abandoned dream

still I try to pursue my longing

though sweat soaks my hand

weariness and tiredness doesn't impede me

from finding happiness

Oh... haven't I seen the stars

a smile that adorns the night

that gleams like a jewel

to comfort those with weary souls

those with sorrowful hearts

those with weary souls

those with sorrowful hearts

those with weary soul

Oh... haven't I seen the stars

a smile that adorns the night

that gleams like a jewel

to comfort those with weary souls

isn't there pauses in life

no need to sprint all the way

I let out a long sigh

to prepare to run again

to run again

to make a step

towards the light

like a star that shines

to comfort those with weary souls

like a star that glows

to comfort those with sorrowful hearts

3. Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2004)

from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind soundtrack. This one in case you feel left out by 2 foreign songs

lyric

Change your heart

Look around you

Change your heart

It will astound you

I need your lovin'

Like the sunshine

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Change your heart

Look around you

Change your heart

Will astound you

I need your lovin'

Like the sunshine

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

I need your lovin'

Like the sunshine

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

Everybody's gotta learn sometime

4. Tori Amos - Jamaica Inn (The Beekeeper, 2005)

I like the lyric too.

lyric

Can you patch my jeans Peggy Ann?

Just a little stitch to mend the hole he has torn, if you can.

Maybe I got too set in my ways.

He says she reminds him of me when we first met in those early days.

The sexiest thing is trust, I wake up to find the pirates have come.

Tying up along your coast, how was I to know the pirates have come?

Between Rebecca’s, beneath your firmaments,

I have worshipped in the Jamaica Inn, in the Jamaica Inn.

With the gales my little boat was tossed.

How was I to know that you’d sent her with a lantern to bring me in?

“Are you positive this is a friend?”

The captain grimaced, “Those are cliffs of rock ahead if I’m not mistaken.”

The sexiest thing is trust, I wake up to find the pirates have come.

Tying up along your coast, how was I to know the pirates have come?

Between Rebecca’s, beneath your firmaments, I have worshipped.

The sexiest thing is trust, I wake up to find the pirates have come.

Tying up along your coast, how was I to know the pirates have come?

Between Rebecca’s, beneath your firmaments,

I have worshipped in the Jamaica Inn, in the Jamaica Inn…

5. Moby - Extreme Ways (18, 2002)

from Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum soundtrack.

lyric

Extreme ways are back again

Extreme places I didn't know

I broke everything new again

Everything that I'd owned

I threw it out the windows, came along

Extreme ways I know move apart

The colors of my sea

Perfect color me

Extreme ways that that help me

Help me out at night

Extreme places I had gone

But never seen any light

Dirty basements, dirty noise

Dirty places coming through

Extreme worlds alone

Did you ever like it planned

I would stand in line for this

There's always room in life for this

Oh baby, oh baby

Then it fell apart, fell apart

Oh baby, oh baby

Then it fell apart, it fell apart

Oh baby, oh baby

Then it fell apart, it fell apart

Oh baby, oh baby

Like it always does, always does

Extreme songs that told me

They helped me down every night

I didn't have much to say

I didn't get above the light

I closed my eyes and closed myself

And closed my world and never opened

Up to anything

That could get me along

I had to close down everything

I had to close down my mind

Too many things to cover me

Too much can make me blind

I've seen so much in so many places

So many heartaches, so many faces

So many dirty things

You couldn't believe

I would stand in line for this

It's always good in life for this

Oh baby, oh baby

Then it fell apart, fell apart

Oh baby, oh baby

Then it fell apart, it fell apart

Oh baby, oh baby

Then it fell apart, it fell apart

Oh baby, oh baby

Like it always does, always does

6. Amy Winehouse - Some Unholy War (Down Tempo) (Back to Black Deluxe Edition, 2007)

The greatest lyricist ever!!!

lyric

If my man was fighting

Some unholy war

I would be behind him

Straight shook up beside him

With strength he didn't know

It's you I'm fighting for

He can't lose with me in tow

I refuse to let him go

At his side and drunk on pride

We wait for the blow

We put it in writing

But who you writing for

Just us on kitchen floor

Justice done,

Reciting my stomach standing still

Like you're reading my will

He still stands in spite of what his scars say

I'll battle till this bitter finale

Just me, my dignity and this guitar case

Yes my man is fighting some unholy war

And I will stand beside you

Who you fighting for

B - I would have died too

I'd of liked to

If my man was fighting

Some unholy war

If my man was fighting

7. Swan Lee - Tomorrow Never Dies (Enter, 2001)

A song originally made for the Tomorrow Never Dies movie, but ended up for Hitman game. I thought you will like it, but I was wrong :\

lyric

Stars in the night is all I see

And the gloomy moon is beaming out for me

Shining in the starlight of my eye

As I fly away I'm whispering bye-bye

Chorus

I'm just another kind of girl

And I'm leaving for another kind of world

Shiny sky above inviting me

Don't be sorry 'cause

Tomorrow never dies

Floating on a flyaway tonight

And I'm sweeping through the skies in speedy fly

Leaving all the dreariness behind

To another space another time

Chorus

8. Enigma - Camera Obscura (The Screen Behind The Mirror, 1999)

I'm sure this wouldn't be everyone's pick of the day :P

lyric

In reverse mode

Cause we are the fighters

Just fighting for our rights

Stand up, join us, modern crusaders alive

We have the power...

We're not submissive, we're not aggressive

But they think...

Stand up, join us, modern crusaders alive

We have the power...

Sors salutis

et virtutis

michi nunc contraria

Hac in hora

sine nora

cordum pulsum tangite;

quod per sortem

sternit fortem,

mecum omnes plangite!

translation

Fate, in health

and virtue,

is against me

So at this hour

without delay

pluck the vibrating strings;

since Fate

strikes down the strong man,

everyone weep with me!

9. Schiller and Sarah Brightman - The Smile (Schiller: Leben, 2003/Sarah Brightman: The Harem Tour, 2003)

and this one too

lyric

There is a smile

A smile upon your face

I wonder why

Why you're full of grace

There was a time

My feeling was replaced

I wanna hide

Hide in your embrace...

10. Jason Mraz - Life is Wonderful (Mr. A-Z, 2005)

I thought you would know it

lyric

It takes a crane to build a crane

It takes two floors to make a storie

It takes an egg to make a hen

It takes a hen to make an egg

There is no end to what I'm saying

It takes a thought to make a word

And it takes some words to make an action

And it takes some work to make it work

It takes some good to make it hurt

It takes some bad for satisfaction

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle

Ah la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la

It takes a night to make it done

And it takes a day to make you young brother

And it takes some old to make you young

It takes some cold to know the sun

It takes the one to have the other

And it takes no time to fall in love

But it takes you years to know what love is

And it takes some fears to make you trust

It takes those tears to make it rust

It takes the dust to have it polished

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la

It takes some silence to make sound

And it takes a lost before you found it

And it takes a road to go nowhere

It takes a toll to show you care

It takes a hole to see a mountain

Ah la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la life goes full circle

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la life is meaningful

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la life is meaningful

Ah la la la la la la life is full of

Ah la la la la la life is so full of love

Ah la la la la la life is wonderful

Ah la la la la la la life is meaningful

Ah la la la la la life is full of

Ah la la la la la life is so full of love

11. Luciano Pavarotti and Aqua - Funiculì, Funiculà (Luciano Pavarotti And Friends For Cambodia And Tibet, 2000)

I have a strange taste, I know... It's in Neapolitan. This is a last minute addition, it explains why this one was placed rather poorly :P

lyric

Aieressera, oì nanninè, me ne sagliette,

tu saie addò tu saie addò

Addò 'stu core 'ngrato cchiù dispietto farme nun pò!

Addò lo fuoco coce, ma si fuie

te lassa sta!

E nun te corre appriesso, nun te struie, 'ncielo a guardà!...

Jammo, jammo 'ncoppa, jammo jà,

funiculì, funiculà!

Nè... jammo da la terra a la montagna! no passo nc'è!

Se vede Francia, Proceta e la Spagna...

Io veco a tte!

Tirato co la fune, ditto 'nfatto,

'ncielo se va..

Se va comm' 'à lu viento a l'intrasatto, guè, saglie sà!

Jammo, jammo 'ncoppa, jammo jà,

funiculì, funiculà!

Se n' 'è sagliuta, oì nè, se n' 'è sagliuta la capa già!

È gghiuta, pò è turnata, pò è venuta...

sta sempe ccà!

La capa vota, vota, attuorno, attuorno,

attuorno a tte!

Sto core canta sempe

nu taluorno

Sposammo, oì nè!

Jammo, jammo 'ncoppa, jammo jà,

funiculì, funiculà!

translation

Yesterday evening, my love, I went up,

do you know where?

Where this ungrateful heart cannot spite me any more!

Where the fire burns, but if you flee

it lets you be!

And it doesn't chase you, it doesn't burn you, to see the sky!...

Let's go together, let's go there,

funicular downhill, funicular uphill!

Let's go from the ground to the mountain, my love! Without walking!

You can see France, Procida and Spain...

and I see you!

Pulled by a rope, no sooner said than done,

we go to the skies..

We go like the wind all of a sudden, go up, go up!

Let's go together, let's go there,

funicular downhill, funicular uphill!

We've climbed it, my love, we've already climbed to the top!

It has gone, then returned, then come back...

It is still here!

The empty empty summit, around, around,

around you!

This heart still sings

and is not petulant

Let's be married, my love!

Let's go together, let's go there,

funicular downhill, funicular uphill!

12. k.d.lang - Golden Slumbers/The End (Happy Feet, 2006)

from "Happy Feet" soundtrack. This is the first song I chose and I instantly know where to put it. At the end!

lyric

Once there was a way to get back homeward

Once there was a way to get back home

Sleep pretty darling do not cry

And I will sing a lullabye

Golden slumbers fill your eyes

Smiles await you when you rise

Sleep pretty darling do not cry

And I will sing a lullabye

Once there was a way to get back homeward

Once there was a way to get back home

Sleep pretty darling don't you cry

I'll sing a lullabye

And in the end

The love you take

Is equal to the love

You make

Golden slumbers fill your eyes

Smiles await you when you rise

Sleep pretty darling do not cry

I will sing a lullabye

I've received mine now. Thanks Kite (Dave is it?) and thanks mystery mixmaker.

I'm d/loading right now. Will give it a few good listens and review it in a day or two. I don't want to rush it... want to do it justice. :D

btw, to whoever made this - love the tracknames
