I have never, ever watched the Jonas Lovers' cover of Fix You, and I never, ever hope to. Every time someone posts that clip, I scroll past immediately.

 

On-topic: I'm actually not that crazy about Coldplay's cover of Billie Jean, but I will second all the thoughts about it being a tribute of respect rather than trying to rework it into a fancy new style. That's why it's only a live performance.

As others have said: One, fans of artists always complain about covers. Two, this is meant to be a TRIBUTE, not something better than the original or anything like that.

They did an awesome cover with only 3 guitars !

Moreover how can you hate it when so many people sing along to this hommage Coldplay made ?

I mean at the Parc des Princes for instance it was enormous you couldn't even hear Chris singing the refrain .

It's a shame they can't just see it as the lovely tribute that it, is regardless of whether you like their style or not. It's not like they are trying to do it better than Michael Jackson - it's just a nice gesture to someone they admired. It's not a big deal so I don't see why people get their knickers in a twist about it :confused:

Well Chris does constantly flub up the lyrics to Billie Jean. If you're aware of the proper lyrics, it can be a bit irritating because you want to sing the proper lyrics, and Chris goes and sing something completely different. So I can see why they wouldn't be fond of it, but i just find it cute

how about, like for ex. mj covered a coldplay song, of course some of us may not appreciate it either. pft.

see, i'm the biggest fan of them all, i've loved michael since i was a little kid, and i think coldplay doing billie jean at their shows is amazing. it's not about whose version is better, it's about them paying respect to the man. thumbs up. i know everyone was singing their hearts out to billie jean at wembley. it says a lot.

but now the Jonas Brotthers doing Fix you, is just horrible! but see i feel like a hypocrite they are probably paying a tribute to coldplay too and may be a nice gesture too. yet i absolutely hate that.

 

but i guess theres a huge difference, coldplay is a very talented band worthy of doing a good tribute. the jonas brothers is 3 lame brothers who were made famous by some tweens watching disney channel. BIG difference then.

 

anyways everytime i hear Billie Jean instead of thinking of MJ now i think about coldplay. =)

Well, it's not like the cover was meant to be insanely great or anything.

I'm a big MJ fan. Since I was 4, Ive been dancing to his songs on cassettes. My friends listened to Britney Spears. I adored the dance and music of MJ. When he died, I was stunned. I didn't cry. I just refused to believe it.

 

It was at the Carson show, when CP did Billie Jean that I finally cried. I found their cover beautiful. Chris' voice was emotional and beautiful as always and meshed well with the song. If it made ME cry(I barely cry), then it was a great cover.

 

When people cover CP, I always get pissed so I guess I understand MJ fans..but whatever. It 's a great cover

No they didn't do the best covers, but I think that their version of 2000 miles is beautiful, and I love their Billie Jean cover as well :nice:

My father is no MJ fan but he also does not like the CP-version of Billie Jean because Chris' singing would be not good enough, however he does not like Coldplay :rolleyes:.

 

I don't think that their version of Billie Jean is too bad, ok some notes are really too high for Chris - that's the problem, he should sing it a few notes lower....
