Yeah, talking about Chris and the fact he chose to be a star.....in this case if a fan meets his favourite star and ask for a pic or an autograph it is normal and part of the "play".... but it's completely different from a paparazzo who spies him or his family to take a pic and earn money from that... :inquisitive:

This is an interesting topic. I like finding new stuff about the band, and while reading such stories, I find out bits about their private life. All in good fun, as long as there's a line. I wouldn't like it if people were passing by my house every day only because I live there.

It's okay to talk about stories the boys, or somebody close to them, have posted.

And anyway, none of us know them personally. We can dedicate a lot of our time to find out snippets about them. But that's not the same as truly knowing somebody, or having somebody as a friend.

Knowing stuff like what Chris ate for lunch can be fun, but is it really necessary?

I understand, and would probably feel the same in situations like having a chance to meet a Coldplay member.

I think everybody can follow common sense... and learn from their own, or other people's, mistakes.

double post

I think that the best thing to do is to use good judgment.

Think about what you are going to say or post before you do it. If things come up in conversation, I don't think it really matters, as long you treat the band members/their families with respect.

Respect is key. So is intention.

Definitely don't talk about the kids. Idk if you can stop all the sickos out there who want to fuck Chris' belly hair or whatever, but nobody here should talk about the kids.

Very well said, Perrine. :D

Thanks :cheesy:

I think you're exaggerating a bit Sara :nice:

Do you think it would bother Chris if we say that Moses is a cute boy ? They're not sacred still !

They might just be saying that because the article is down, but good for him!

General thoughts? It's a public fansite. If the members of the band wish to put in a request that we don't discuss these things, they would do so. However, they have not. Therefore, all those sorts of things are "allowed" to talk about here.

No matter how much you state it's wrong to talk about their kids or talk about wanting to fuck Chris' belly hair or whatever they will keep doing so because it's a public fansite. Unless you actually introduce RULES to stop it happening, the people talking about it won't care how hard you kermitflail, 'but it's WRONG!!1!!1!einz'

Posting about their kids and pics of their homes is wrong but I do enjoy finding about bits of info about them. Not for stalking purposes or anything..

I dont believe the people who say they have no interest in their personal lives.I think most fans do have an interest. You cant just talk about their instruments and the music all the time.

Once your made a name for yourself your owned by the public

i don't agree with people saying being in a band justifies the scrutiny they receive. i think most people must recognize that Chris gets the attention he does because of his wife. coldplay are my favorite band and are obviously incredibly famous, but there are bigger people out there, and you don't hear nearly as much.

i don't think it's right for fans to get into their personal lives. i know some people get...well like one fellow said...attached to the band members in an infatuated type of way. you can't really stop someone's infatuation, but i would say most of the people must realize that to outsiders and members of the band, they're like Mel from Flight of the Concords - a little bit scary.

taking too much interest in lives outside your own usually doesn't lead to much personal happiness. maybe i shouldn't get into this as i'm not a psychiatrist or anything. personally i just think we should leave people to themselves.

i realize there are jon and kate's in the real world, so some people would be fine parading their kids about, but most people are not this way - celebrities and otherwise. children should be left alone.

as for chris and the band. well i think they can deal with loads of individuals having infatuations. it's just the...walking past the house thing or following or whatever, where it gets weird.

go and see them where they work, that's fine. it's just a fan being a fan. but when they're not on the job, we should leave them be.

I absolutely agree with everything Lore wrote.

Im a Coldplay fan. Not Jonny's, Guy's, Will's or Chris's fan. I think that stalking their wives and children is sick. Posting their pics and stuff. I think that Gwyneth's thread should not even be in Coldplay section. She is an actress not a Coldplay member. And those people who go around London or wherever and finding their houses is just not ok. I think their privacy should be respected. And about The Bakary I think that one of the reasons that they moved from there is that fans probably come there almost every day. It was private place, sure everyone wants to know if their doing some new music but people went there and waited for them and took pics. Im sure they were polite and nice, but I think they should have place where no fans would come lurking. :D

And this is my opinion dont judge me or anything. Im not talking about anyone Im just saying what I think. Its a free world.

So what did you actually post? If it was just saying "Happy Birthday" I don't really see the problem.

I think i would be freaking freaked out if i have a kid and a stranger has a thread about my kid's birthday.

However, personally i think that we all should think twice before posting something here that could invade privacy. think how we would like it if others did that to us.

forgive my hypocrisy. :)

Ok. I guess everybody has their different opinion about this but I don't think we need to divide the board. Maybe its better if we just use our common sense in determining whether we have crossed the line? I'm sure everyone here has moral values and know what should be private or not. Voice out your feelings, if you want to go "f*ck Chris or Guy or Jonny or Will", if you want to greet their kids or their wives a happy birthday (I'm sure they'll still appreciate it though its kinda freaky), if you want to know what underwear Guy wears or what deodorant Chris uses I guess that's fine, but lay off the private stuff people!

One time this got really out of hand, some of us tried to contain the situation (IRT Guy's ex wife and his daughter) that their private pictures got posted when someone got a hold of the ex wife's personal blog, someone even reasoned out that she isn't supposed to post their private pictures in there cos nothing is private in the internet, that she should've thought about it before doing it but Hell these guys are human too, they have all the freedom to post just like you and I have. Its one thing to look at the pictures and another to post them. What would you feel if one day someone tried to copy your pictures and posted them on some other site??? It can happen!!!

And this issue about Chris and Kate making out, seriously people, these media are just trying to get you, if you start feeding on their gossip, they'll be happier. So do the Coldplay boys a favour, stop making these media happy! If you feel that this issue is right, then what is important to you, Chris cheating or listening to Chris' music which I know inspired you? When you get to see Chris, will you ask him what deodorant is he using or will you ask him what plans does he have for their upcoming album? If you are really a fan and you love them, then there's respect coming with it.

@ Ioshi:thumbsup: great post....

Of course if meeting Chris, I`d ask about such things as a new album!

(if I want to know Chris`s deodorant brand, I`ll just ask JONNY:wink3:)

I agree that it's kind of pointless to debate this as it's never going to reach an agreed conclusion and I'm not sure it's actually helping anything.

It sounds like most people have a pretty good idea what is an acceptable level of interest in the boy's lives and what is not so as Sparkle says, let people use their common sense. If anything really inappropriate comes up then that's what the moderators are here for. Having a go at each other directly about what people post just creates hostility and makes it unpleasant. Lets leave it up to the moderators to moderate!

If you really feel strongly about not wanting to know about their personal lives then stay away from threads you know are likely to contain that kind of info e.g. the Gwyneth thread, threads dedicated to each band member. There are plenty of purely music related threads for people who are genuinely only interested in music/live music related info.

Maybe this thread would be better moved to the section that deals with the running of the board, rather than here? It seems to fit in better with that category.

Thanks :cheesy:

No, I mean Moses is adorable and saying so is fine, but talking about the kids' birthdays and stuff sort of creeps me out. They're just kids...

As I said, that's actually happened on here, so there are certain people who should be paying attention to this.;)

Sure I agree :nice:

Though this year there was this party for him, and many of the guests were celebs, so it inevitably has been posted on here

We can always...

but I hope we do more than just that.

True. Making it a "celeb" birthday party wasn't a good idea IMO, because that opened the "floodgates of attention".
