December 27, 200916 yr Well completely unimaginative and "impersonal" then. I've got all the socks and shower-gel I could ever need and am more than capable of getting that sort of stuff any day of the week.;) At least the scarf I got was something I would never have got around to buying, unlike socks and shower-gel. Would've appreciated if you'd admitted to me that you were wrong for saying gifts are 'pointless'.
December 27, 200916 yr One of the few things I like about Christmas is that its an opportunity to remind people you still think about them, with a card and a gift. Absolutely, and imho it doesn't matter how trivial the present, it's definitely the thought that counts :) I asked for socks this year, and I got them (nice ones too!) I was glad.

December 27, 200916 yr I got a shit load of socks this year. They are all very cool too. I hate plain boring socks.
December 27, 200916 yr Whooo. I love socks that have seperate toes on them. :P Socks are the most boring present imaginable. Classic example of buying a present "just for the sake of it". You might as well not bother at all.:dozey: Uh, IMO you're wrong for two reasons. First of all, I'm pretty damn sure the 'motivational workbook' I got from my sister last year is the most boring present imaginable. Second of all, just because you don't like the present doesn't mean that the person didn't put any thought or effort buying it. :\
December 27, 200916 yr Whooo. I love socks that have seperate toes on them. :P Those socks are different, as they are at least very distinctive and "decorative".;) Uh, IMO you're wrong for two reasons. First of all, I'm pretty damn sure the 'motivational workbook' I got from my sister last year is the most boring present imaginable. Second of all, just because you don't like the present doesn't mean that the person didn't put any thought or effort buying it. :\ If it's an "unsuitable" present, clearly the person who bought it doesn't know you well enough and shouldn't be wasting their time and money.;)
December 27, 200916 yr I did not get any socks but I would have liked some stripped socks though Stripped? You mean with a layer removed?
December 27, 200916 yr Those socks are different, as they are at least very distinctive and "decorative".;) so you can't give socks to people who don't like colorful, "decorative" stuff?
December 27, 200916 yr I got some socks with different black and white patterns on them :disappointed: But I must say, they're really comfortable :smug: :shy:
December 27, 200916 yr Socks are actually not an extremely bad gift. I go through socks really quickly, and they get holes in them, and holey socks are really not cool at all.
December 27, 200916 yr LOL this thread is a win. I definitely got socks for Christmas and every person I've talked to so far received socks too. Mine were standard length, brown, green, gray. Very boring lol.
December 27, 200916 yr Plus, there's the concept of AWESOME socks, which many people do not consider: warm socks with awesome patterns that are really comfy hippy socks stripy socks toe-socks socks that look like shoes et cetera.
December 27, 200916 yr Last night it was really cold when I was trying to sleep and I was thinking about how some nice warm and fuzzy socks would have made a great gift and helped me fall asleep.
December 27, 200916 yr Toe socks are awesome awesome awesome, just a pain to put on. lol agreed... those socks that look like shoes are pretty cool :wacky:
December 27, 200916 yr Well I got purple and white/brown, purple, and gold Puma socks, and they don't feel that soft. But they are long. Then I got "Dream Soles" socks. Anyway, they are all white with a different color around the ankle. I would say they are rather soft.
December 27, 200916 yr i got slipper boots. That's the closest thing to socks i got. i got that too! I'm wearing them right now. :)
December 27, 200916 yr my cat was originally going to be called socks because it looked like he was wearing white socks w/ his fur. but no names ever stuck so he doesn't really have a name :P
