Chris Martin's Worst Lyrics

Featured Replies

I agree, plus the way Roadie talked about it gave me too much expectations.

Princess Of China's lyrics aren't so great too: "I could have been a princess, you'd be a king Could have had a castle and worn a ring But no o-o-o-oh you let me go o-o-o-oh-oh"

This.

The song is great live, but it's dull on the album.

And the way Chris sings Can we pour some water on.. It's so..Ugh.

not possible to criticize things private, and not need drawings.

X&Y..."I wanna love you but I don't know if I can" really?

This.

You know, you should try playing the song backwards with some audio program. MUCH better I tell you

Lory, I think you have misunderstood what I just said.. ;)

"And the hardest part was letting go not taking part. You really broke my heart." oh god :|

  • 2 weeks later...

The whole PoC, every line.

And what can I say about CB? I like just the We'll be glowing in the dark line, the rest made me think "Seriously Chris?"...in particular Be a cartoon heart...wtf are you saying?!

"And the hardest part was letting go not taking part. You really broke my heart." oh god :|

Really? That line really breaks MY heart [well...it's X&Y so ♥]...maybe you never lived something like that :laugh3:

I love Coldplay AND Chris Martin, but he's got to work on the lyrics a bit. For example, I consider "X&Y" their best work. But some of the lyrics make me go: . Why? Because I have to hear "if you never try then you'll never know" on almost every track. I skip to "What If", I get: "How can you know if you don't even try?". I skip to "Fix You", I get: "But if you never try you'll never know". I skip to "Speed of Sound", I get: "If you never try then you'll never know". So surely you can see my point. "If you never try, you'll never know" is the worst Coldplay lyric ever.

Probably because there is something behind that album...a story?...a very sad one form my point of view...

For me is one of the best lyric ever :laugh3: :D

It's every time the same thing...I think that it's all about the meaning that someone gives to the lyrics but it's actually strange to see how much people doesn't like what you love

Come on I love the lyrics of Charlie Brown, the "cartoon heart" is not that great but the rest is amazing.

Back to "the worst" topic, I just don't get Strawberry Siwng... like it doesn't make any sense, but I love the sound of it so I just forget about it

Come on I love the lyrics of Charlie Brown, the "cartoon heart" is not that great but the rest is amazing.

I don't know, I don't get the meaning of the song...I can't image Chris taking a car downtown where the lost boys meet :laugh3: C'mon he is married, he has children, what is this teenager [on LSD] song? It disturbs me that I'm only 21 years old...yes, I know, I'm old inside :laugh3:

you can not steal the key to the story but more build another story . not know if Charlie Brown is same to Moses or two boys with Lukas.

all albums up to half of the album Viva La Vida and not MX Album. the lyrics are all part of Chris Martin has written songs for his ex - and his wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their children for a commercial . the songs are written in the actual moment of real life.

after you have Escapist lyrics that starts a new relationship, a new story. inspiration is not same. half a dream and reality. but stay in the imagination. even is alternative real wall web .

just look at the referance of two songs in MX. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall & Don't let it Break Your Heart is another sound affairs.

I feel only the last album MX and one part of Viva La Vida. because the symmetry is not another woman who inspired :\

Well this is the album that fans hate the most. and it is the only Coldplay album. and the only love song for my part. I like this only car here. but who did not wait ?

yes so true comments !

Lukas"

They call him Lukas,

Climbing the stairs to talk to you,

Coming to tell his story,

Every single one of which is true,

Hello Lukas,

I'm pleased to meet you, now how you do?

So they go driving,

Up to the river like lovers do,

You smell like the summer,

Maybe the summer just smells of you,

One day i'm gonna be a famous writer,

Some look like love in the afternoon,

It was all Lukas could say,

Maybe one day we could run away,

Run away,

[Chorus x2]

ooh ooh ooh ooh,

I thought you'd never ask

Now here comes Lukas,

He'd done everything you wanted to,

It's 20 years later,

Come back to do what he promised to,

He'd come back to make her happy,

But these things don't always wait for you,

And poor Lukas was late,

For when he got back she've been married a day,

Gone away...

[Chorus x2]

ooh ooh ooh ooh,

I thought you'd never ask,

And Lukas would say,

For a million lonely people,

Another lonely day,

For a million hearts that open,

A million break,

And the world's just a fallen angel

In my wake,

High up in heaven you can hear them say,

Looking for Lukas

He'is always running away,

ooh ooh ooh ooh,

ooh ooh ooh ooh,

ooh ooh ooh ooh,

ooh ooh ooh ooh

I'm sitting in the car reading "Roadie - My life on the road with Coldplay" when I come across this on page 185

...when Guy politely asked of him (Chris) one morning 'So, "tears stream down your face, and AAAAH". What's that all about, then?'

Chris and Guy had their fights quite recently back then, according to the book.

Exactly. And, if you follow a band/artist this closely, it happens quite frequently. For example: Sting uses the lyric "It's a big enough umbrella, but it's always me that ends up getting wet" in MANY songs, and actually that lyric spans over The Police and his solo stuff, as well as multiple albums.

I love all of the lyrics used in Coldplays songs because they all have meaning and sound good in the actual songs :D

lyrics Englishman In New York this is a song about fame it's cool in New York and is not the same as on life in amerika by Rammstein cover by Coldplay

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCUJ2Zzt-D8]amerika coldplay rammstein cover - YouTube[/ame]

off thread

I not like New York so much modern . I'm sorry but I am say thanks to america.

the godmother of my father was American and my father saved by her given penicillins because it does not exist in Europe in 1950 when he was born. and become his godmother.

but me I'm not a girl American

I think every song everyone can interpret in their own way private.

But for my part Chris has written in the inspiration of the moment of his real life.

Shiver to impress this girl Emma this song and clips In my Place and Scientist even Moses was inspired by Gwyneth because written in 2002-2005 .

after you have new version clip helped by fan : Chris want married a monster big Yeti female

Chris is become criticized by society celebrity he leaves his beautiful wife Gwyneth for a Yeti .

OMG problem of plagiarism and copyright for images stolen now. then this is not a parody to run behind a monster Yeti female much more inspired Chris passionate much less to a mood scientist you know in the clip.

So to see the reaction of people :shocked2:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxQwtl_giK4]"YETI" ? A Bad Lip Reading of Coldplay - YouTube[/ame]

i want this song!!!

Did you do something similar to what the OP said with "Kicked Your Monkey"? My husband and I noticed that any time we hear the original song, it seems to sound so similar in nature to your version that we tend to hear your version instead... but it still fits just right somehow.

Don't you just hate it when your yeti girlfriend lies to you when she's actually a wookie .

This actually makes a bit of sense if you think about it...

PLASMA COCONUT WAFFLE AHHHH

How do you decide what to sing when the camera is not on his face?

The lyrics in this actually make as much sense as most Coldplay songs...

Sounds better than any Coldplay song I've heard before :p

Ok, so this has been driving me crazy. When you see him running after the yeti, I assume that's not in the real video, but Chris Martin looks like himself. MINDFUCK

What is the music that plays after Coldplay during the other video selection?

i am soo there with you dude ;D much better, which is insane

  • 10 months later...

An I the only one who doesn't really get the lyrics to Rainy Day? I mean, the whole 'I love it when you come over to my house' just makes the song seem really childish.

Also, (from the same song) 'I spent the night with the Queen of Spain'......This makes no sense at all....

The "Queen of Spain" is Gwyneth imo.

I like to think that all the lyrics have a great meaning and sometimes we are not able to understand them. Chris is a genius.

I can see that his lyrics have some historical context because he studied that. Not all of us are so into history subject haha
