I'm confused... are people saying they don't understand those lyrics?

The fish don't have anywhere to go... they're all gonna get shot... they can't dodge all of your bullets because they can't escape. It's "simple" because you know you're get all of them. (Unless of course, you shoot through the barrel and it busts open and they spill everywhere. But even then, they'd all die anyway of suffocation. Simple.)

"Where she kindly fed me shrimp and aubergine."

:freak::angry: Jesus Christ, what the hell was he thinking?? Those lyrics ruined the effing song :veryangry2:

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

No you got the wrong end of the stick.

That lyric is so painfully obvious that it inspires no thought at all, its another example of Chris playing around with a catchphrase: 'Like shooting fish in a barrel'. He's trying to be cryptic and thought provoking, but it's just incredibly transparent and vague.

One thing that pissed me off was that when i was young i thought Chris was a magical wizard of poetry and lyrics.

At that point i knew what yellow was eactly about.

Til in one interview he said he has no fucking idea what it is about.

So.. he just likes yellow girls with skin and bones..

YOU read my mind! I couldn't explain because I can't explain very well the things and less explain in english :laugh3:.

and also just because you don't understand the lyrics doesn't mean they are the worst.

I mean, I love that phrase of prospekt's march.

Not quite... he likes the Yellow Pages and girls with skin and bones.

Can't really think, but in recent songs, some of the Lost! and 42 lyrics are kind of cheesy, but as a whole, I think they have fairly interesting lyrics compared to many bands.

^Ah, right :laugh3:

Seriously all of these hate pages are bumming me out :uhoh:

I've seen far more negative threads in my time here. This is not only comparatively tame, but it's taking an objective look at an aspect of their music.

After all, we get a gazillion "Favorite Lyrics" threads, right? Why can't we have one for the least favorite?

And yeah, my dislike for that Prospekt's March lyric is due to the fact that it attempts to twist a common catchphrase but comes off as really cheesy in the end.

By that comment i mean the ¨Do you hate Chris Martin¨thread, created by the same person.

But i´ll just leave it at that. :dozey:

what r u guys sayin!, the lyrics to CP songs mean different things to us all,we interpret the lyrics on our own emotional level, they dont necessarily need to make sense when just spoken but listening to them and putting them into the context of the whole song they fit perfectly, CP dont just 'fill' gaps when writing their amazing albums, jeezo u should b ashamed for even thinking half this crap, call yourself fans?

I think the Yellow lyrics are the worst but if anyone know how to speak arabic, try to translate it-it'll become very funny!!!:P

Some people interpret things on the emotional level of "gee that lyric sure is shit" though.

"Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

This! :shifty:

Wow, this discussion takes me 3 years back to the time where I were in high school.

At the litterature classes there were, according to me, 4 types of students:

1.) students, who didn't make their homeworks and didn't understood poems,

2.) students, who didn't make their homeworks, but tried to understand poems,

3.) students, who did make their homeworks, but was pulling out hair from their

head, because they simply didn't understood the poems,

4.) students, who did make their homeworks and had a great analyze and

discussion to it.

When we entered the litterature classes, then there were complitely different

sights to the poems, whether they liked them, hated them or were blank...

and I find it brilliant. I think we can say that it happens in this discussion thread

too.. ;) We might not agree here, but it is good to see a discussion of opinions and views.

Personally I adore Coldplay's lyrics and still find them magical, some may say

childish at points, but I think that makes them brilliant and interesting ;)

When there are a phrase I don't understand or find nonfitable to the song,

then I try to analyse the phrase, and I might understand it better..

They use a lot of symbols... :)
