Featured Replies

You just got home to Southampton? OMG go to bed! It's nearly 4AM!!!

Yeah, crazy right?

well, we got off the boat at 10pm but a bunch of us went back to where the stage was rigged up and watched the band film the video for about two hours. then I had to catch my train at 1am, so really, it's not so bad, but I AM tired! ha.

i think they make a mistake with timing.

Imagine them announcing that there is a new christmas single coming out next Wednesday and that they were going to be a part of the video . Plus that they were hearing it first. Personally i think people on that boat would have come much more excited.

And then the next day , maybe doing a proper announcment of the song , saying what it is and when it's released .

Yeah, but I think they had to hide the true purpose of it (hence saying there would be a few surprises) due to media exposure etc.

I just think we don't know all the behind-the-scenes stuff in order to make this happen, and everyone who went should have gone without expectations no matter what they said in the initial announcement.

The experience of being able to participate in something coldplay-related in the flesh would be enough for me, no matter what it was!

Very honest in my opinion, I thank-you for expressing it the way you did for all of us who waited on the boards for some kind of updates. I don't agree with the fact you had to pay for drinks, that's crazy. I think the short notice, and from your description it wasn't thought out very well. There was 100 people, I don't understand why a goody bag couldn't have been given out for each, I mean when the band is at the Beehive and the many visitors lately, they seem very generous giving things to people.

I am glad everyone is in the Coldplay vid, I mean years from now, saying "Yeah, I was in a Coldplay Video" can be a good conversation starter.:)

Many thanks MartinFan :) I haven't read back on most of the posts since mine because perhaps I'm being criticised for being negative, and I don't have time for that (seeing as I should be in bed!) but I'm just trying to give one point of view.

I'll give up now and just email Coldplay HQ and give links to my feedback, I don't have much more to say...

It was so nice to meet the guys from there, they were lovely (as always). But I could go hang around the studio areas for a few days and probably meet all the band, get stuff signed, have a chat (maybe) - all far, far more than we got for much more effort (for most people) on this boat trip.

Would they rather we go hanging around the studios...guess so, I'm afraid to say, although it's not my thing. I just wanted to meet Miller again, Matt and Phil, ask them questions (as promised) and listen and sing to Coldplay all night with my friends (on the soundsystem would have been fine, no real band needed!).

The fact we had to pay for drinks is absolutely outrageous in my book. Not everyone drank, and we only had one or two each. I had two drinks which cost me almost £8. I've spent at least eight hours this week trying to organise people to hook up with others with spare tickets, and helping international visitors make arrangements, so I've basically been helping organise Coldplay's extras for them. Others have run themselves into the ground to make this work for Coldplay HQ.

Never again for me.

Gutted.

Off to bed now but looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, it'll be great!!

I'm in university guys, so I can't really go and read all 129 of these pages.

SO WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!! :D

Poop, I should have gone to the rest of the shoot! Oh well, awesome night. Again, great meeting some of you! G'night!

wow, just finished catching up with the thread.

all I can say is that I hope that the Coldplay HQ people don't come checking here! They were trying to give us a thank you, and the majority (I'm not saying all) of us behaved badly :uhoh: on the thread we all (including me) freaked out about the non-disclosure agreements before we heard the full story, and now people who went are posting negative stuff :embarrassed:

although I don't blame the disappointed people in the least- that's how my brain operates too, so I probably would've been joining in the negative posts if I'd gone! it sucks when things don't live up to your imagination :\

Totally agree with AnnaElisabeth

I REALLY like the new song.It starts slowly, just piano then picks up with guitars and stuff then ends with just Chris on the piano. Hearing it for the first time with a 100 Coldplay fans looking at London from the Thames was amazing.

Plus, filming was fun. Joking around

Oh my god, I can't wait to hear it. AAAAAHHHH. :bomb:

Just to clear everything up about us not being able to tell anything:

Yes we had to sign those agreements.

Then they told us we could just tell everyone, it didn't matter.

Then we couldn't, because they realized we signed those agreements.

Then we could, because the record company decided it and because the news about the new single was released through Coldplay.com anyway yesterday. We just can't reveal details about where it is being filmed, for obvious reasons.

So, the "Matt/Miller/Phil Q&A" was just a cover-up story to get 100 Coldplay fans on a boat (although Debs told us it was originally supposed to happen as well, but they were needed at the set; Phil is going to be in the video as well by the way). I'm really happy and grateful I got to be a part of it and I understand the people that are sad they couldn't. I would be too. But at least some of their biggest fans are in a Coldplay video and almost everyone can recognize someone they know and love while watching the video.

Okay, that clears a lot up, thank you! we got bitchy (and I'm including me here, don't worry) because we thought they were spilling LP5 news to you, etc, and the rest of us at home wouldn't be able to hear about it.

now it's clear that we all jumped to conclusions on this thread :\

I thought it was SO good. Chris' voice is really dynamic in this one - it goes low like in Yes in some parts, high like in Fix You in others, and really loud near the end where things come together. As people have said, I wish they had better speakers, but the style of the song really reminded me of LiT 2 in terms of it's uplifting sound, but with more organic instrumentation. It's soaring, that's for sure.

again- CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR IT. eeeeeek!

@Osaka Sun

^ Oh Lordy....you probably just need to go back about 4 pages....

Ok, so the Video was shot, but will the video be a shot of the boat from the banks of the Thames of the Coldplayers releasing the balloons, or will there be up close shots of the Coldplayers releasing the balloons, cause if it's a shot from the bank of the Thames, I could tell people in my living room, "Hey, run that back, did ya see me, I was in a Coldplay Video.":P

Maybe, they had everyone sign the forms, so if the Video becomes a huge money making success, the Coldplayers wouldn't be able to get a Lawyer and come after some of the profits, saying "Hey I was in that video, and wasn't paid for it." (My disclosure)= NOT SAYING OUR COLDPLAYERS WOULD SINK THIS LOW, just the management/record company might have thought this.

The forms were probably just permission for their image to be used in media......release forms , right?

I had chat to Dianne tonight...the 3 of us are SO doing all the California shows together next time....,

Happy Thanksgiving, by the way !x

We spoke to Phil at the set of the stage at about midnight and he said that he was fully intending to do the Q&A but because he was asked to appear in the video, he was unable to get from the shore to the boat.

so PLEASE, stop complaining, it wasn't all a complete rouse to get us into the video.

they WERE intending to do it, but it was out of their hands.

It sounds like there's drama going down here. I'll post my full account tomorrow when it's all written. But I would like to say that even if I didn't go to the film set afterwards and watch the entire video being shot and meet the whole band (and talked at Simon Pegg) and Phil, I would STILL say that this was entirely worth it for me just to be a part of something I care about, and I don't regret a single thing. To each their own, but I feel like you've got to be at least somewhat excited to be part of a video like this. So many people all over the world would have given their left foot to be here to just be in the video, and I don't know, I feel like putting what we got to do down is just kind of...insensitive, in some ways.

But today has been the best day of my life, and I think it will be for a long time. After the boat was over a bunch of us went to the film set and watched the whole thing, and three of us, who stuck it out to the very end, met the whole band at 3AM. I have ridiculous stories to tell about how I came about meeting Chris and what we talked about, but I'll leave that til later. I can't even go into the emotions I'm feeling right now.

Just sounds like it wasnt thought through very well then, doesn't it......it was all too rushed and too last minute, maybe.

This is exciting!

Can't wait for tomorrow! :D

Cant wait to hear all the details tomorrow...hurry up and go to sleep and wake up......I need deets!

Chelsea!!!! I tweeted you but my tweets keep disappearing, so here you go:

@acrossunvrs is it true?!?! you met the boys?!?! so so so so so so happy for you, Chelsea, you deserve it :D

seriously, super happy for you, and glad you're happy too :)

Just sounds like it wasnt thought through very well then, doesn't it......it was all too rushed and too last minute, maybe.

Perhaps, but I think some people's expectations were FARRRRRRRRRRR too high,

or not high enough.

WE WERE IN A GOD DAMN COLDPLAY MUSIC VIDEO.

and people are complaining because they didn't get to see phil?

It's just bugging me, tonight was just about the best night ever for a coldplay fan!

wow, just finished catching up with the thread.

Exactly. I understand people want to post their opinions, but I hope in doing so they don't ruin any future opportunities for the rest of us! They didn't have to do anything to be honest, and I don't want them to perceive us as being ungrateful for what we got.

Never again for me.

More room for me if it happens again then!

Agreed!

Perfect example of the logistics involved and how people will start complaining without knowing the whole story!

Which goes to show, how incredibly un-organized this was. I think people "Hoped" there would be a meet and greet with the band, but to cancel the Q&A that everyone was expecting cause Phil was stuck in a video shoot, in my opinion is a poor excuse, he should have been jet skied out to the boat if he was running late.;)

I guess different people have different expectations and interpret things differently. What pleases one, may not satisfy another.....:P

Well I'd say a last minute plan is better than no plan at all, wouldn't you? ;)

More room for me if it happens again then!

Amen to that!

Phil on a jet ski in the ball freezing Thames...LOL....but Im with you. It sounds like a shambles.
