I don't get why we are comparing them in the first place. They're their own bands. In no way are they going to be exact copies of each other.

Arrogant is not the right word. It's just a discussion that has been done a lot of times before. Without result.

 

^Yes, they copy Joe Satriani, they steal from Kraftwerk, Travis, U2, Arcade Fire, Muse and Elbow (they said it themselves!), and most of all, they are just Peter Allen under a different name.

I have kind of a hatred for Radiohead. Not because of them in particular actually. It is because I am a huge Coldplay fan and everyone tells me "Oh you should listen to Radiohead, they are better and Coldplay is exactly like them" or they say "You like Coldplay? You would love Radiohead!". I have listened to Radiohead because of this, and I just don't dig it. It's not bad, but it is nothing spectacular to me and I feel Coldplay is better. I do not find Radioheads music something that I like, but since everyone tells me I should, I have kind of a loathing for them...

Kind of a couple of songs from everywhere. Like I said. If I had discovered them on my own, or a friend mentioned them I would be more open to it.....but it keeps getting shoved at me and people are saying "HERE LIKE THIS NOW BECAUSE YOU LIKE COLDPLAY". and I really am put off by that.

I just dnt like radiohead cuz they seem like jerks :P

oh well I guess I have one by them n one by thom yorke. But dnt listen to them often.

I of course love coldplay but I wont compare both bands since I haven't heard enough of radiohead. And anyway I would be biased and think coldplay is better so it wouldn't be a fair comparison :P

People feel the need to compare their favorite bands with other bands in order to make them seem worse or "OMG SO ALIKE, my favourite band is good". It's fun though, they only stick to the regular "I like this one more but the other has a few good songs" comment which makes the thread/topic boring.

 

Either way, maybe you could see a small resemblace in their earlier work (talking about both bands) but Coldplay has gone to a place completely opposite to Radiohead's path, comparing them now is like comparing Gaga with U2 or any other weird comparison.

 

I'd say listen to Coldplay if you're all such "great fans" and don't mind what you read on the web/youtube/other forums saying how much Coldplay is a rip off Radiohead or Muse, or U2 or any other popular band often compared with them.

I do like Radiohead, some songs are really good like No Surprises, High & Dry, Creep, You, Coke Babies, Karma Police and Just.

 

I don't like them that much because I think some of their music is just.......weird. And I don't know how they are as people, I always see Thom Yorke kinda high and I don't really like his weird dances :P

 

And I agree with you, there's no point on comparing them, I don't see any similitude between these bands. Maybe in some tiny aspect, but not really.

Radiohead is on another League. I mean, radiohead is BETTER, but i like coldplay more. By now. Both are my favorite bands right now xD

You'd be a fool to sight Coldplay as more talented than Radiohead. I like Coldplay, they're pretty good, but not on Radiohead's level.
