Norwegian Government Bombing and Shooting (77 Dead)

Are there not enough posts here espousing condolences and emotional wailing for you? Sorry I didn't contribute my own.

Do you think those kids who got shot on that island were sitting there thinking about this emoticon as they were bleeding out:

Are you like trying to be an asshole? As Megalomania pointed out, they also weren't thinking of fucking 43.6% GDP either. If you want to debate the topic then fine (Though generally I've mainly seen you expressing opinions that seemed to make others think WTF and slowly back away)

even though some feel that directly after the incident is too soon to discuss the nitty gritty and we're still in a 'mourning period' but I wouldn't go as far as that, what I don't get is the enjoyment you get in that post mocking those who are trying to console others.

THIS. I don't think it's necessary or directly relevant to the topic.

You guys are totally right, I don't know what I was thinking!

I should have just been a blubbering bag of emotion from the start!

I support the police 100%! Question nothing!

Also, if you go back and read my posts you'll see I was the one who linked to the guy's name and information first. I've contributed more relevant information here than you have.

EDIT:

I won't post in this thread anymore, I've said my piece.

You could at least have some compassion for members here who know people that were injured/killed. It doesn't take that to show some sympathy.

And this was never a question of "hmm, should we support the police or not?" this thread was for news of a tragedy. Not a thread for conspiracy theories.

And this thread was also never a competition to see "who can copy the most relevant news articles first!!!"

Or were they FURIOUS at their government (the very thing they were worshiping at the camp - the Labor Party)? WHY aren't the police here? HOW did this man get a gun, when I'm not allowed to have one to DEFEND myself?

I don't really know how to respond to this.

I've tried writing something for the past 20 minutes ..

that hurt.

I don't feel the need to contribute "relevant" information on here. The question is have you ever lived in Norway and do you know enough about Norway to start making a political debate out of this awful event? Political point scoring over issues like these is insensitive.

Holy crap Saffire, what's your problem?

It's nice that the death toll at least decreased, are there still people missing? I hope those people are at least alive. :l

I've just went through the whole thread and you are unbelievable, I shouldn't be surprised really, you're always illogical and impossible to listen to. What's worse is, also like in other situations, you never stick around to back up the total bullshit you spew- you never see it through. And what a surprise here you are leaving this thread because you've "said your piece", absolute coward.

Highlights: My sig, insisting you weren't joking about it, also going on to say you have a 'Nostramadus-aura' (I mean jesus christ), or the part were you basically said the victims were thinking about their government and their strong economy in the middle of being shot, and also just earlier when someone said you can debate or whatever but their entire point was that it wasn't necessary to mock people who are emotional about this, and you take this as advice that you should be a blubbering mess of emotion?

To be fair there isn't much of a choice you have but to jump ship, you're way too awkward and stubborn. Instead of doing the reasonable thing, stepping back and realising you are being a bit of a ****, not because you're debating the issue but actually making fun of people who are understandably emotional over the situation, and not even apologising but to get all sarcastic and writing about how we expect you to support the police 100% and to be a blubbering bag of emotion, you're totally fucked in the head (And I knew you'd be happy about the economy suffering in that other thread you massive freak).

A thread could be about vacuum cleaners and you'd somehow twist it into more police corruption.

//I've had some time to breathe now//

We aren't mad at the police, and we aren't mad at the government. We aren't going to give this man who did these terrible things what he wants, which is hate and anger. If one man can show so much hate, imagine how much love we can show.

I've been trying to keep calm and collected all day but reading that really crushed me from the inside, I still hear my heart in my ears and my skin has been burned by tears once again. One of my friend saved a life and had someone die in his arms, another one is still missing. All the others are safe, and I've talked to them. Not once did they say anything about being mad and furious, no one I have talked to has said anything about it. I just.. you don't even know how much what you said hurt.

I could write so much more, so much, but I won't.

and yes crests, people are still missing.

Reilly :dazzled:

I feel so awful that there's nothing I can do to help. :c

Okay I won't go quite that far, but there is a general consensus here as of late.

Saffire: if you post in this thread again, please be more respectful of the other members here, especially considering those that are personally involved in the situation.

Well I won't post to debate with anyone anymore, but I'll say that I'm keenly aware my views are unpopular. What I'm criticizing here aren't the Norwegian people, just the lax response by the government. Immediately following 9/11, I likely would have been quite offended if someone were criticizing George Bush or the CIA for failing to see that possibility and preparing for it.

The question is have you ever lived in Norway and do you know enough about Norway to start making a political debate out of this awful event?

I've never been to Norway, but I've got a good friend who lives there (Josh can attest to this), and I hosted his family for a week while they were here on vacation in the US last summer. But this isn't really relevant, except to show that I'm not some right wing gun nut who's mad at the Labor party. ;) Open borders are a wonderful thing.

If you're not interested in what I have to say just ignore my posts.

I feel like I should write something. I probably shouldn't have written earlier, didn't really get what I meant to say out. I'll try again tomorrow...

Bless you Ainsley for feeling the way you do about the man responsible for all the hurt; you are truly noble and aware of the higher path.

Please be well, I sense your pain, and want you to be comforted here. I know how it feels to loose someone close like that.

There are moments others will not understand, they haven't a sense of how close this is to you and your countrymen, but I understand, we understand.

Ainsley let me say from the bottom of my heart that I am very sorry if my posts hurt your feelings. I regret saying those things now.

I've only very jaded following my own country's reaction to terrorism, and I love Norway (and the Scandinavian countries in general) - so I was (am) scared at what this event would mean for your future liberties.

I wholeheartedly agree

Thank you, and I am so sorry for you loss.

Death is such a terrible thing

Thank you, it means a lot hearing that. I'm feeling better today, but maybe that's because the sun is out. The dark really brings out the terrible things in me. But I know you didn't mean to hurt me or anyone intentionally, at least I think you didn't. I understand that you think it's bad how slow the police were and stuff, but I just wanted you to know that none of us are angry about it. Love is stronger than hate. We weren't prepared for this to happen, not the bomb, and ESPECIALLY not the shooting at Utøya. This is the worst thing to happen to Norway since the second world war.

But yes, thank you.

it was yesterday when I came of the boat and my mum putted back the radio on I first heard about this.

was horrible to hear and had to think about all the Coldplayers from Norway that they were dead or missing

I'm so happy to see you guys stil live but I'm sad to see that your friend are missing or injured

I wish I could something for you guys

Tomorrow = on Wednesday 27.7.11, the Copenhagen Catedral holds a memorial service at 2pm - it is for the official Denmark headed by our Queen Margrethe and Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen. The latter will deliver a speech. The Norwegian Ambassador will also be present, and he will speak as well. The general public is welcome as well. I consider going to the service (provided there are still seats available) to show my sympathy for Norway and the Norwegian population in these troubled times. The general public was recommended to arrive at 12 = at noon.

The memorial service is broadcast on Danish television.

This is a real tragedy. I'm sorry for everyone, who's lost someone in this gruesomeness. I can't even find the right words to express my sympahty.

And I hope that bastard will be in prison for the rest of his life, 21 years isn't enough at all. I'd condemn him for life at minimum.

^The maximum sentence in Norway is 21 years, but you can be put in "forvaring" indefinitely which the killer most certainly will.

The police have announced the names of 13 more people today.

My friend didn't make it. He was shot.

Deep down I knew he was gone, but when it's finally confirmed and announced it becomes so much more real. I feel kind of numb right now, but I know that tonight it will hit me hard. The night always torments me.

I read so many bad things that happen in the world every day, and it makes me so sad, but at the same time it's distant. I've never experienced this before though. It's so difficult. But something good came out of this, love. lots of love. It brought Norway together even more and we will not be destroyed by this one man. It sounds bad saying that something good came out of this, but I need to try and think positive right now.

Anyway, thanks for all the kind words you've all given to us in Norway. it means a lot.

I'm incredibly sad to hear that. I, as well as several of my friends who I had told this to, were praying your friend had made it. I can only imagine how you feel.

My condolences to his family and friends.

And Ainsley, I give you a lot of credit for finding the good of the situation. I know I could never see that in a time like this.
