Oh wow, that's interesting. So that means that Charlie Brown might be up for the third or fourth single.

Ugh, went to barnes and noble today.... no luck :/ I didn't even find the old issue.

Its tomorrow then.

Martin will not forecast what the future might hold for Coldplay. "I always feel like each record is our last, but at the moment I'm in the stage where I really mean it," he says. "I just can't imagine how we would do another one, because we've thrown everything [into this one]. When it's finished, which hopefully should be pretty soon-it has to be pretty soon-we won't have been able to put more work into it, which I guess is the only thing we can really do."

It's an album destined to be filled with emotive, ambitious soundscapes that while true to the band's sound also furiously pushes limits and strives to convey big themes-all this in a marketplace dominated by singles. "Mylo Xyloto" is a concept album at its core.

So before they said this was a concept album....which insinuates that this is the direction that you want to go.

Concept art is the art that is the general idea of what you want, but you will draw more to finally complete it.

How can you have a concept album, and end on that? You cant say that you want to head in this direction and then not go anywhere!

maybe im crazy though.

we've never had a massive success at radio - I would say moderate success at radio

Are they kidding me? Come on, Yellow, In My Place, Clocks, Fix You, Talk, The Hardest Part, Violet Hill, Viva La Vida are songs that have been played on the radio millions of times. Everybody knows these songs. At least there's one off every record people know, as long they haven't moved to Mars.

I just can't stand how In My Place is overplayed

Thank you so much for putting the interview here! I loved reading it!

anyone know if it's out now??

my friend works at B and N. she said it wasn't out yet...

We all know that's the way Chris talks: "we're not very good" "we have no hit singles" "we don't know if we're going to carry on much longer". We can't really take most things he says seriously. I don't even know how much I trust the report that MX is a concept album...I think they said the same thing about VLV, and it wasn't really.

The album?? No. It's out Oct. 25 (in America).

Lol no, the magazine.

The Hardest Part? The only time I remember that being played was on Tom Morton's BBC Radio Scotland show about 5 years back!

"The honest answer is, I want anyone who spends money on us to be really pleased with their purchase," he says. "If you want to speak purely? How I really feel is, we don't make it for us. We don't make it to sell millions, we don't make it to answer critics. We make it so that if you're in a store and you buy our record, or a ticket - like a good sandwich - you go, 'That's good!' That's all it is. And I look to my heroes on both record and live and I think that the people I like the most are the people that are really working for their audience. Bruce [springsteen] being the No. 1 example. I don't really like the whole, 'We're just doing this and if you like it, great.' I don't subscribe to that."

The best fucking quote I've read from Chris Martin. Thank god he has said it rather than being a pretentious **** and saying 'well we're really in it for ourselves and if the fans don't get it then fuck them because they're a bunch of plebs. We only make music to satisfy the hip critics.'

.

Exactly my thoughts when I read it!!!

It really was played as often as the other ones in Germany! Even now they may play it more often than Yellow and Fix You here.

Anyway, I'm quite sure the vast majority of the songs I've mentioned have been played numerous times on the radio in most Western countries.

...and I still do not understand the strong-dislikeness of X&Y. I prefer it over Viva La Vida, because of how heartfelt almost every song is. Chris and the guys gave it his all from Square One to Til Kingdom Come.

I love X&Y  I mean i think that I love that album because i feel nostalgic or something but i love every single song.

But i feel the same way for Viva La Vida.
