Anyone else annoyed -____-

we hear christmas lights a few times a year and then this happens... f%@# alan patridge

Yes I have to say I was a bit annoyed too. He should have came out once Coldplay had finished playing Christmas Lights.

Alan Partridge was very rude

I can see the whole point of the joke was that he interrupted them during one of their own Christmas songs - and it worked very well for that.

But to ruin Christmas Lights at only the third or fourth (?) time it's been played live ever is absolutely scandalous in my opinion - no doubt if they'd played it all it would have been the highlight of the whole night :(

I was superrrr annoyed don't ever interrupt coldplay and really dont say that the song s*cks! And chris looked very annoyed as well.

Yeah, it would've been great to hear the full song again but it was clearly a scripted interruption judging the mini sketch that followed with Alan Cartridge/Steve Coogan and Chris. If anything, I'm confused as to why Coldplay agreed to it. Did the guys go and finish Christmas Lights or move onto another song after this?

I actually don't think it was scripted, just look at Chris' facial expression, he's like: ''wtf?'' (at 2:29) and he actually really looks annoyed at some points I think.

No, they didn't go on to finish the song - I and others around me were really quite disappointed about it :( People were actually booing. Steve Coogan was not a popular man at all! I was especially dissapointed because the guys didn't play it the previous night at the o2 and I was pretty certain they'd play it for the Under 1 roof show since it was a Christmassy charity affair. It would have been the highlight of the evening for me to hear it in full having not been able to go to the one of the Crisis Xmas gigs last year. The worst part was everyone thought Chris would go back to the piano after the little sketch but instead the lights dimmed and then they went straight into playing ETIAW. Which still ended the show on a high but I couldn't understand why they didn't finish it :( I did not appreciate him slagging off the band or the song. It was all in good humour though and Chris seemed amused.

It must have been scripted to a degree because Chris and Steve had obviously planned to do the duet of Little Drummer Boy together as part of the encore - it will have been on the set list no doubt. And the banter they had was deliberately funny - Chris's f-f*** you got a great reaction from the crowd, everyone cheered him loudly  But I get why people think it wasn't planned - I was very close to the stage and when Steve first came out and Chris stopped singing he did look genuinely suprised and p'd off - he made me believe that he had no idea Alan was coming on. Maybe he wasn't expecting him to come on until after the song finished...? If that was the case Steve Coogan's a right pr*ck  Otherwise, all credit to Chris's acting ability :P

Wow, Chris really looks like he wants to punch him in the face. You can tell by the boy's reactions (Guy laughing, Johnny still playing... and of course Chris' nastiest look ever!) that this wasn't planned at all, even though the little sketch was.

The interruption was planned. It was 100% planned. They were reading off an autocue. Chris was acting, they were all acting, it was supposed to look like Alan Partridge had interrupted them, that was the point of the joke.

Yes it was slightly disappointing, but we got a great version of Little Drummer Boy out of it.

Of course it was, you think Coldplay's team and security would just let someone (famous or not) walk on stage and interrupt the band whilst they were playing?

Alan Partridge is a character played by Steve Coogan, and the Alan Partridge character is built around always sticking his foot in his mouth and pissing people off. The original setlist had Christmas Lights after Little Drummer Boy, but it was purposely changed so they could do the interruption. The autocue had the entire dialogue, including the part about Christmas Lights being a morose song for Christmas.

It's so rare to hear Christmas Lights. So rare that it's like a showstopper.

Chris may think "WTF" :stunned: because he gives a forced laugh.

I think it is direspectful to the band and to the audience.

I'll trust you then if you were there and read the autocue, but if Coogan's Partridge is supposed to piss people off, why not doing the exact thing that would work, without telling them, to get an honest reaction? Being such a guest, I think it wouldn't be too hard for him to interrupt them if he really wanted to.

Chris deserves an Oscar. Over DiCaprio. We knew he was a funny actor, but here he looks really annoyed and struggling to keep his smile. And Guy's laugh looked totally spontaneous - discrete as he is, I didn't thought he'd laugh like that at something planned.

That was brilliant!!! I got a good vid of it too!

I agree. I was thinking the same thing.

Chris doesn't seems to be amused. And, as you mentionned it Lu'kaa, if it was planed Chris deserves an Oscar because his surprised face is very well simulated. :stunned:

As for Guy I agree too.

Maybe he came on early. Christmas Lights is essentially a song of two halves, maybe he misjudged it.

I didn't like the interruption, not even the dialogue afterwards:confused:

but Chris singing little drummer boy was incredibly sweet.... I already love the song & Chris added more love & passion to it..:angel:

I think that version will stick for the next weeks:heart:

I was so annoyed when I saw the video...Christmas Lights :(

What a fuckin douchebag. :whatever:

Fuck u sir. Fuck u and ur fuckin toupee. :phu:

:D

I know it's scripted, but still, not cool.

Cock piss Partridge!

Alan Partridge is probably the funniest character ever created in British tv comedy! One of my all time favourite shows is I'm Alan Partridge. It was brilliant watching him and Chris trading off!

LOL, did Chris say "Fuck you" @5:00. xD

I love him. :D
