I think I've excluded the world "sellout" from my vocabulary :|

^Why?

What do you think of this song?

I kinda like it and I hate myself for that. :embarrassed:

I like Mick's part, and I like J.Lo's ass.

Mick Jagger, que cazzo?!

I hate Mick's recent work....like the Superheavy and this song, where is the Rolling Stones soul?!

I really dislike that song (but I have to admit that the synth line is not that bad) and Mick's part is awful.

But he's almost 70 now and he has already given a lot to music so you can't pretend he still can write masterpieces

Poverty stricken Mick Jagger selling out for the fortunes he'll make with Will.I.Am. Makes sense.

Coldplay?

When artists do something that they really like and it happens to be commercially viable, I don't consider them sellouts.

I'm pretty damn sure they're enjoying themselves on stage, so they're not doing it just for the money.

And more than anything else, I admire artist who constantly change and reinvent themselves and their music.

Even if the change is sometimes for the worse, it's still better than sticking to a formula, like Nickelback.

I don't think you got my point, you really think Mick Jagger needs money?

That song is horrible by the by, and I haven't heard anyone genuinely use the term 'sell out' in about a decade, weird kid.

I'm not sure about Mr. Jagger's motives, maybe he also did it cos he liked it. He's always been a pervy mofo. But it is a very wtf colab.

It's not unlikely that he did it just for the money. This is the most popular crap today (LMFAO, Guetta, etc).

He hasn't done anything since 2005 and A Bigger Bang Tour really, and we all know that rockstars don't have a cheap lifestyle.

He's pretty damn wealthy, I'd say.

His personal fortune was estimated in 2010, at £190 million.

So yeah... The only explanation then is - he likes the song. :|

Anyway, it doesn't matter, I don't care about it anymore. But it was a little bit shocking.

And it's even worse than Moves Like Jagger.

PS I changed the name of the thread cos it was too sensationalistic. :D

And I started it more because of my frustration with what's happening to music than for the song itself.

Bit of advice, never use the term 'sellout' as its outdated because it always makes you look stupid. Case in point.

Thank you for enlightening me. I live under a rock in Western Sahara and I can still hear the term occasionally. But what do you mean by outdated?

Is it useless because popular music's been shit for the last decade or so (except for Coldplay of course :dazzled:) or is the term kinda retro per se?

Silly Mick Jagger is silly.

Yes, that about sums it up. :D Case closed.

I just haven't heard anyone use the term 'sell out' in years. I mean even when I was a young child/teen getting into music I always thought it was a silly phrase, you can never truely know the intentions of someone (Whether they are changing direction or just want money) so its a pointless, bitter process of writing them off as a 'sell out' without really knowing, and there's no reason to really think about it.

Reilly you're a sellout

If you really think Coldplay is the only good popular music out there today, you must have limited music taste/exposure. There's plenty of good artists out there if you look for them. (IDK, maybe you meant "mainstream" instead of "popular," but even then, your statement is pretty outrageous.)

LOL, u really think I r serious? :D (But I do consider them the best act of the last decade.)

The thing is, pop(ular)/mainstream music is everywhere, it's on radio, TV, they play it on parties... You can't escape it, and you can't always choose not to listen to it. So I do care about what's happening to it. There was a time when it used to be bearable or really good and today, with the internet ruining the music industry, I have a feeling that everyone stopped caring. They're making these idiotic songs that I could make using some program. And I feel pretty good with generalising because 90% of those pop songstresses' songs sound pretty much the same. Or DJs with their electropop crap...

I feel like an idiot when I go to a party and don't consider this an EPIC song...
