Did I ever tell you about the time I went to Chris Martin's house?

Anybody can do whatever they want as long as they don't break any laws. The fact that many of us would not go that far (going to Chris's house, rang the bell, etc.) does not mean that what this girl did has to be strongly condemned.

I understand that the boys privacy has to be respected but after all they are aware that they are famous and it is absolutely NORMAL that a crazy fan appears at your front door or someone approaches in a restaurant just to say hello.

In my humble opinion, I think many are making a big deal of this.

Totally agree with you. And yeah I'm sorry I'm trying not to make a big deal of this, I'm just really disappointed that the people of the forum (not everyone of course) acted this way. :(

I think those 2 situations you mentioned are quite different though. A restaurant is somewhat of a public place, you're surrounded by people, strangers, therefore they're aware that there's always a risk that someone will notice them and say hello, whereas their home is definitely 100% private, which means they shouldn't have to worry about a fan approaching them here.

I don't want to be a nervous nelly, but you guys should google "Rebecca Schaeffer."

^well that's... creepy :|

I don't even get the link, this girl wasn't stalking him for 3 years...

And she WASN'T A PSYCHO :|

Okay.... I guess I give up. The OP is never coming back and I don't see the point of continuing to talk about this but whatever. :(

stop posting in this thread for fucks sake

you have all made me feel like shit just for trying to give him the letter

thank you

goodbye

and most importantly

fuck off

xx

You know, maybe I am in the minority here, but think about if Chris came down to greet her and sign a few things? Would we all be reacting this way? It's something to think about.

It's not something to think about because he doesn't. He doesn't do that with anyone going to the house.

While I feel some may have gone too far in their criticism, if you feel like shit I hope you are reflective enough to realise that this may be in fact because you are now aware that what you did (if you did, indeed, do it) was a bit inappropriate, instead of trying to play the victim and blame everyone else. There is no shame in owning that you did something wrong, I myself have said many things in my more avid fan days that were probably inappropriate and learned from it. At the very least I hope you have learned from this thread.

Whoa, I actually posted something like that in the face of a flippant remark? Guess I'm just reminded a tad of my old self here

I don't see the harm in discussing this issue.

I think as long as posters aren't being rude or offensive, all posts should be allowed.

The closure of this thread was a relevant point of discussion and we've talked about closing threads in the past. When did this become a new rule?

It isn't a rule, it was a request. The entire thread was taken over by the discussion if the thread should be closed or not and it wasn't adding anything.

there were far worse off topics in other threads that didn't add anything to the thread itself and yet comments were not deleted

The discussion, I think, was essential and could provide inspiration for a new rule regarding the closure of threads
