Hey guys,

Before Coldplay came on the stage they were playing some very good background music that sounded like bloc party instrumentals.

Does anyone know the songs they were playing

Thank you

it's from the Tycho - Awake album

It's Montana by Tycho

I was pretty surprised at the relatively short setlist and how the songs didn't flow into one another but I keep forgetting that this was sort of a "trial gig". Always in my head probably wasn't played in full. Anyhow, great set and new songs sounded great! I liked the Midnight performance a lot!! I have a good feeling that they will perform at the ACL fest this year!!!

I couldn't find any messages about this, but i really liked the performance af Atlas. Although there weere some mistakes, it was so pure. No backing track, just clean (like fix you). Jonny's guitar parts were incredible too, (a shame on the end his guitar sounded way to low). On all I really liked it.

Q. Hey all-knowing Oracle!

I saw this picture of a note containing the line up of songs the guys performed in SXSX from the official facebook and instagram page. I am just curious, was it handwritten by any of our dear guys? And who decides which song to play during gigs? Cheers from the Philippines!

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

The band and Phil came up with which songs to perform and yes, the setlist was hand-written by Chris.

I, for one, am completely amazed at the negative reaction to the new songs premiered last night. I was switching between the stream and Twitter, and the immediate reception was overwhelmingly positive. Both songs, but especially Always In My Head were very reminiscent of their older material, and I fell in love on both first listens. To come here and see so many people disliking them honestly surprised me.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion obviously, and I respect that. But, it seems silly to me that after asking for ages and ages for 'old Coldplay' to come back, and we get that, people still complain. I don't get it, but that's the fun in all this. We're getting to experience a new album/era, and this is just a natural stage of the process.

I agree completely! I really do not understand why people complain when they've got what they wanted all along. I love that the "old" Coldplay emerges now and then in their new stuff (like the second half of Magic), but I also love that they dare try new things and experiment with new sounds that wouldn't be Coldplay-esque otherwise. I was completely blown away with Midnight, for example, mainly because I love that kind of music and well, Coldplay makes everything a little bit better no matter what they do.

I actually think the most annoying thing about the show was that it was way too short. I sat there in my bed in Sweden watching the show really flippin' early in the morning and just said out loud: "That's it?! 45 minutes?" Went up at 4 AM, got back to bed at 5 AM. I guess I expected a longer concert from a band that's released five albums and one on the way, but iTunes probably had limited time for each band, like they had at the Where The Action Is festival in 2011.

Regarding the songs... well, I like them. I loved Always In My Head from the beginning, partly because of the beat and the guitar sound. Another's Arms was a little bit cheesy for me, but it has grown on me since. The cheesyness of the lyrics probably made me miss my ex-boyfriend which isn't that good so I was annoyed by that especially at four in the morning. I loved that they played Midnight in the end. I was so cynical before they played it, like "OK, they've played all their famous songs, which one will be the last" and then they played a new song (an amazing one) which really lightened me up. Got back to bed very satisfied after that.

I just re watched the concert on iTunes and they took out the part where Chris talks about the missing Malaysia plane before Fix You. Why is that cut out?
