Good morning. We're pleased to announce the 24 November release of a new concert film and live album, Ghost Stories Live 2014, on DVD/CD, Blu-ray/CD and digital formats. The release is available to pre-order viathe Coldplay Store and iTunes now. Anyone pre-ordering the audio album from iTunes will receive Ink (Live) and an alternate live video of Always In My Head immediately.

Filmed by Grammy-nominated director Paul Dugdale, the Ghost Stories Live 2014 film documents the band’s unique performance of the Ghost Stories album to a small handful of fans in March 2014, two months prior to the album’s release. Shot in a custom-built amphitheatre at Sony Studios, Los Angeles, the ground-breaking production sets the band’s performance against stunning 360-degree and overhead imagery.

Said Chris: “The Ghost Stories show at Sony Studios was a very special moment for our band. The magic theatre built by our incredible crew with the 360 screens was literally a dream come true. And it was the first time anyone outside of our studio had heard the new songs. This film is basically our original vision for the Ghost Stories album.”

Parts of the performance were first broadcast in May 2014 as a Coldplay TV Special by major broadcasters around the world, including NBC in the US and Sky Arts in the UK (where the film has already been nominated for Best Live Coverage at this year’s UK Music Video Awards). But Ghost Stories Live 2014 is the first time that the performance has been sequenced as originally conceived: a visual representation of the Ghost Stories album.

The release also contains an exclusive Ghost Stories live album, with audio recorded at the band’s rapturously-received shows in London, Sydney, Paris, Cologne, New York and Los Angeles between April and July 2014.

The package is completed by eight music videos from the Ghost Stories era, including two never-before-seen films for B-sides All Your Friends and Ghost Story plus the exclusive Extended Director’s Cut of the Magic video (with a brand new cameo from Peter Fonda).

Ghost Stories Live 2014 is Coldplay’s first DVD / Blu-ray release since the Grammy-nominated Live 2012 concert film.

It's a little weird the mix of things that are coming up in the whole package, but I'm excited for the Live Album, seems like the LeftRightLeftRightLeft album, short and mixed. Besides I would like to see the videos for Ghost Story and All Your Friends. The film is great, but it was released in the past.

Anywhere to get this for Australia? Yes I know you can get it through Coldplay but it becomes like $56 once shipping is added and that is bloody ridiculous for one bluray which was already on TV.

Hopefully it is on Amazon or Sanity or something so its a bit cheaper.

Not very impressed with this set... Why remove the non-GS songs from the special? Why not add the GS bonus tracks to the CD as well? I will probably buy this at some point though - it's still Coldplay and still good, after all! ;)

Not yet, but there probably will be soon enough. This is just a regular release like GS and Live 2012 was, so it'll definitely be out in shops/online retailers etc.

Of course give it time and I'm sure you can buy it from JbHiFi they generally are quite supportive to Coldplay. I find Sanity wayyyyy too expensive personally.

And yes it's not up on our iTunes Store yet either, give it a week I'd say

Does anyone know if the 'alternative take' means another kind of music video or if the song will be different?

In the TV Special the video of "Always in my Head" was filmed without an audience and with Chris floating around above the stage. And "Oceans" was filmed outside on a pier. I guess on the DVD version you can also see the live version as it was performed in front of the audience.

awww :) just in time for christmas ;) want to see the videos for ghost story and all your friends look like! don't think there will be any footage of the band for some reason though.

edit: also the extended magic video! looks like in color.
