🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion

Featured Replies

Well, after a first listen (skipping the singles we were already heard), and after a second listen of some songs, I have some controversies with this album. I'm gonna make my review and I don't know if I'm gonna be too critic, but I'm just gonna say what I think, just my thoughts:

Overall, almost all the songs sound quite generic.

- I like the cinematic sound of Moon Music, Neon Forest/Angel Song and One World. Good opener, good one on the block of the middle which is the spinal column of the whole album and good closer (except the last hidden minute and a half).

- feelslikeimfallinginlove is better than Higher Power and My Universe, or at least at the same level.

- We Pray should have been on Everyday Life album. I don't think it fits in here, just like All My Love, Good Feelings and feelslikeimfallinginlove, that should have been on other albums.

- Good Feelings and Aeterna are Coldplay out of the comfort zone. Good Feelings feels fresh and is very catchy and Aeterna sounds like if you could go crazy on the dancefloor, although I've been out of the dancefloors for years. Anyways, I don't understand why the song changes absolutely around minute 3:00, it has no sense at all and it ruins the song.

- Jupiter and All My Love could be the most similar songs to classic Coldplay, but just could have been. They feel more like substitutes. And not Oldplay.

- I like I Am A Mountain. And I don't think it is too short. To all the people that say that the lyrics are too repetitive: fall asleep, sleep satisfied, sleep crucified.

- The hidden track or whatever it is at the end of One World makes me cringe, it is disturbing and it also ruins the song.

- Neon Forest/Angel Song is definetely my favourite song on this album. Goosebumps with this one. It is the only one that really touched me and made me cry the two times I listened to it. The first half is apotheosic and it serves as a explosion to what comes next. The second half is really sweet, and I don't understand why some say they haven't made a good slow/sad song in years, because this is. Those lyrics are completely touching, also a good complementary lyrics to the ones of the first half, and I think that is a message to all of us that we should keep present for the rest of our lives (never better said):

"To all, all of us
No, don't give up
Storms pass, love lasts
It all goes by so fast

[Outro: Maya Angelou]
There is an African American song, 19th century
Which, um, is so pretty, it said
"When it looked like the sun wasn't gonna shine anymore
God put a rainbow in the clouds
God put a rainbow in the clouds"
And I've had so many rainbows in my clouds
I had a lot of clouds, but I have had so many rainbows
So many rainbows
So many rainbows"

All this said, I would like they stop using so many samples here and there.

Did a quick mix of iAAM, with Chris and the piano from the acoustic version and G+J+W from the album mix. It feels more Viva-ish to me this way.  Coldplay - I am a Mountain (classicplay mix).

And now they've released the Full Moon Edition, which has ten bonus tracks including A Wave.

Interestingly this version gives you the choice between MP3, WAV and FLAC. All of them are the same price, so there is literally no reason to go for anything other than FLAC.

If anyone from Coldplay reads this, please stop releasing new versions of Moon Music.

It’s available also in digital stores, Spotify, Apple Music etc.

so it’s not only Coldplay store exclusive

Just got the notification on Spotify?!?! I'm excited!!

Need some time to process the Full Moon Version,

but,

COLDPLAY HAVE RELEASED A WAVE!!!!!

I don't see A Wave on it. I have The Karate Kid?

No wait, I lie, I see it.

I wonder if they'll release a full version with the voice memos, the live tracks and the Blue Moons bonus tracks?

What I don't understand is why the physical releases are only available in the US, and why the digital version is double the price in the UK. I really don't like this release strategy, it's screaming 'milking the fanbase' to me.

For some reason I held off buying the album. Now I'm glad I didn't - I'm hoping the Full Moon version gets a physical release.

Also,  I love how they call it Full Moon.

You're not ready for the karate kid

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we get new material, but this new trend is one of my least favorite in the industry.

Still… wow. Why did they leave The Karate Kid off???

Man in the Moon should have been on the record.

Still can’t believe they put Orange as a hidden track to close the record… and then released A Wave as a bonus track a few days later.

Parlophone most likely wants them to score a #1 in both sides of the Atlantic, the UK is a given but the US is difficult, so the band are pulling all the guns.

Nice and surprising move, well done.

"The Karate Kid" is a very nice tune. "Angelsong" is adorable, "Man in the moon" makes me remember MX. "A wave" is what we were expecting, but I would have paid for it to have a longer duration.

The fact that Shine On remains unreleased even after this is baffling.

They must have something planned with it, surely.

Ok, fine. I take back what I said about the boys not being able to do a good slow song. Soooo much better than All My Love (sorry, I really dislike this song).

Karate Kid and Man in The Moon has so much Elton John vibes. I have this feeling in the album at some parts too. I think Moon Music got in a place that most of us are pleased with it.

Sorry to change the subject, but did anyone who bought the Tour Edition actually get the WAV files they were promised?

Why wasn't Man in the Moon on the album it's fucking fantastic
