I almost agree with you, in the sense that Ghost Stories imho shouldn't be considered as part of the second trilogy because it's a Chris solo album at 99% in terms of concept and musical taste. AHFOD will be the last part of the second trilogy and I hope it will have more in common with Viva rather than MX

I think that some people is just missing the point. All I really want from CP is that they make great music, nothing else. The fact they're good guys is secondary and imho the artistic influences of 2003 Chris were far far far far far *continues eternally* better than the ones of the Chris of today. What music has to give is basically emotions, technical and lyrical skills, originality and versatility, and I think it's fair to say that during this years CP music of today doesn't reach the high levels of quality of the past. imho this is all because they moved into a too poppish direction and created a comfort zone in which they remain too often. In fact their best songs of the last years can be considered "weird" experimentation or attributable to their back catalogue sonorities. The only question I make to you all is this: do you think it's better the Chris who collaborated with Richard Ashcroft and Micheal Stipe or the one who makes feat. with Jay-Z and Rihanna? p.s. I sincerely miss the Coldplay who wanted to be the best band of the world and that wanted to make "the masterpiece" that would have given them to music history. Now they only want to be on the top of the charts
