Why would we need an instrumental version of this song? No offense to the guys but its hardly the most complex song structure they've come up with, and I cant really see myself listening to it with no vocals....really hope that doesn't make the EP.

Shiver????!!!! Holy Crap!!! I cant begin to express how happy I would be if that song would stay in the setlist. When was the last time they played that?? One of my goals in life is to hear that live before I die as its one of my all time favorites, come on boys make it happen.

Well if you do a search on youtube theres an audio. I've heard it there a few times.

I'm pretty sure I have a copy of that. I keep all the singles I have collected from bands in a big old trunk with a tv on top of it though, so its hard to check. Sometimes I don't remember what I actually found a copy of vs. just found audio of.

Eh I don't like Lovers In Japan at all. I was hoping for 42 but to answer your question I think Lover will be the next single. I just don't see them trying to float 42, its not exactly radio friendly. bummer.

Sadly I agree. I was just now watching an old performance of talk and the same thing hit me. With all the these costumes and such, its lost its personal touch. Sad.

For an official video it's...meh. If your going to bother doing a live video than commit and show Chris's worst dance moves in full. As it is there were too many close ups, not enough wide shots. But cheers to them for using a live cut of the song! Maybe they too have realized that its better that way than on the album.

I can see the resemblance in that photo, but I get where your coming from when you say you don't. I don't have a crush on Chris so I don't nit pick if theres even the slightest resemblance I'll generally acknowledge it. But I've had people compare people I did have a crush on to someone else, and I am never pleased. And I'm a little tipsy tonight so heres hoping this post makes sense.

~My sister couldn't stand them back when I bought Parachutes, but by the time I bought AROBTTH she got on board. ~ My brother held out that they were boring until I bought X&Y, suddenly he couldn't stop listening to it, and within a few months he was listening to all three albums. He now is constantly either listening to Coldplay or trying to play their music himself on the piano. You can hear him screeching the lyrics to the scientist off key through the house. ~My Father is a mild sorta fan. He has a handful of songs on his ipod from each album except Viva, which he thinks only has one good song. And hes tagged along to a few shows. ~My mother is weird. At first she contended she couldn't stand them. Shes now through constant exposure to their music admitted their talented but not her thing, and sometimes says odd things like "Gwyneth did good" lol.

Its funny but it would have been funnier if they had studied their characteristics a bit more.

I liked it. I probably wouldn't like an album full of those types of songs, but as people mentioned above its just a little free give away, so I'm enjoying it.

I agree with much of your sentiment. The album did not give me chills. Though I have been listening to a few of the tracks on the new album quite frequently (violet hill, and Viva La Vida primarily). For me it lacks that special something as well. Much of what I really enjoyed about previous albums is absent and I don't believe this new style A) was executed that well, and B) reflects the best their capable of. Much of the album for me doesn't even rival past b-sides for the band so its a little frustrating. My biggest pet peeves, overuse of synthesizer in songs, like Lovers in Japan. Burying of Chris's vocal or flat out absence of it. And the lyrical substance or again absence of lyrics in much of the album. And finally the album lacks coherency, like they weren't sure what direction to go so they went every direction, the result is a lack of flow when listening. The change in direction also sounds a little forced in areas. I realize full well that some of the above mentioned were intentional on their part, which doesn't make me feel any better about it. Again I love Viva and Violet, but with those two aside the album was a bit of a disappointment. I'm just going to have to wait and see where they go from here.

I think I'm going to try not to listen to any of these recordings. It might be nice to have a handful of new songs I've never heard in December. We shall see if my will power is really that strong when the youtube recording is staring me in the face though.

I hope its true, but I've seen a few cases with these online stores where for some reason they have an early date listed that just keeps "getting pushed back" while every other store lists the expected date. But you never know...

I agree whole heartedly. This song is amazing live, and feels more as if builds and goes somewhere, with a stronger drum section and more guitar work. Unfortunately as far as the album goes I much prefer the acoustic version.
