IQ Mag: Coldplay Return to US in 2009!!
I hope its summer not spring. My classes would not be accommodating for a spring tour...

Eno Sessions (new album)
More personal lyrics again, longer songs, more jonny input, there was not enough guitar on viva. And as others have mentioned an album that flows together. Every song on viva was different and short, leaving you never actually comfortable, it felt unfinished at times and disjointed. So yeah those are the biggest requests I have.

My hatred for Satriani grows with every passing day...

Why Viva La Vida wasn't as good as AROBTTH
Honestly as a whole Viva just feels colder and disconnected for a coldplay album. It has nothing to do with my disliking experimentation because personally I feel this is the most generic record they've produced to date. It might be different for them but its a sound I hear frequently everywhere else. And a step back from the creative and expansive pictures they used to paint with their songs. In listening to their other records I always felt a connection and an intimacy with the lyrics that is missing here. It just doesn't feel heartfelt anymore, I can almost hear him willing himself to sound "different" but writing is about whats in your heart, and if you have to reach too far, it just isn't going to seem genuine anymore. Its one thing to say your not going to put yourself in a box creatively but its another thing to restrict yourself from anything that might come naturally out of a fear that the all powerful critic machine might disapprove. Is that not just another box of a different shape?

Does it make you mad when....
My dad is one of those fans lol. And while sometimes I'm irritated by it I wouldn't say it ever makes me mad. I've been a fan since parachutes, and I've seen a lot of fans come and go some who were more fanatical than me by far tell me they don't like them anymore. So I guess for me if your enjoying the music thats a good thing no matter how bad your overall taste might be. In the meantime I'm trying to sneak more than the 5 tracks of coldplay my father currently owns onto his ipod.

What do you think?
I put down good. It falls short of the great mark though. As much from the Viva Sessions do in my opinion.

Coldplay in Time Magazine's Year in Review: "It's still uncool" to like Coldplay
In my case Coldplay is far from the most uncool band in my collection. I don't really care what people say, I never have. I've always liked things that annoyed people (see my avatar, easily one of the most uncool bands on the plant but I love them and they are the most awesome people ever). Part of what makes me special. And honestly how uncool can a band that sells that many albums be? People love coldplay but for some reason utterly beyond me they find listening to a band with an other than "rock star" persona to be embarrassing. I on the contrary find it easier to relate to them since their not trashing hotel rooms. I couldn't be happier to proclaim that I love coldplay!!

Chris on Sunday Night Project
Somebody find that video! lol

Where Were You When You First Heard "Violet Hill"?
The morning they released to their web site. I was running out the door with my sister for classes and downloaded it and went to the car. My sister had no idea they were releasing it yet, so when the ambient sound started I told her it was a new Travis tune...but then Chris's voice kicked in she started to scream. And we both listened to it on repeat the whole way to school. To this day I think its one of the best tracks on that album. And I have to admit it rather ruined my concentration in class that morning lol.

The Hardest Part thoughts
I don't know, I think its better than most stuff on Viva..:::hides::: but I did thoroughly enjoy the guitar version of this song they played in SanJose. It was just fantastic.

Postcards From Far Away project | Previous pre-delivery discussion (thread closed)
After much debate I've decided to send one. I know I better get on it, I'm going to buy one later today. This is just too cool of an idea to pass on. Kudos to everyone who thought it up.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Poor Guy. This thing really sucks.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
I agree that the public statement is enough. They are keeping it very above board, and by giving it so little public attention reinforce the fact they feel the case has no merit. Well played coldplay, or at least well played extremely expensive legal team lol.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Wow that lyric always rubbed me the wrong way, good to know it wasn't actually Chris's.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Look no matter how the court finds Chris really doesn't have to be concerned about it, as he knows he didn't plagiarize. The man is always the first to admit an influence, borrowed riff etc, why would he have tried to lie this time...?..The answer is he wouldn't have, plain and simple. Its a coincidence and nothing more, I don't think theres enough there for Joe to win anyway. But like I said either way I'm sure Chris's conscience is clear. Lets just hope the courts are fair this time.

Coldplay Still Looking to do 2009 Album
I'm going to agree with you there. I really didn't care for Eno's influence on the latest album and was hoping for a change up on the new material. On another note I think 2009 is rather ambitious for a man/band to release a new LP when on average they've taken at least 2 years between albums in the past. There not even giving themselves a full year to work on it as they have tour dates well into this spring. And didn't Chris always say in the past there needed to be space between the albums so they could go home and remember what its like to be normal before writing again. He needs to get over this fear of aging, he's only 31 for crap sake.

Gah! They ALMOST Did It!
Its beautiful, and I agree it should have been much longer. If they really want to make shorter albums or EP's in this case I would rather they give us less songs that had a longer running time. A short song here and there has its place, but these self imposed time constraints are starting to interfere with the overall quality of the songs when they seem to feel that EVERY song must be that way. It sounds unfinished.

Prospekt's March / 42
I know what your talking about and agree completely. It seems he's so desperate to be different lately he's forgotten that if it sounds good, it sounds good period. Everything doesn't have to be weird or unexpected or "different" whatever that means. A good melody never goes out of style, the songs that are going to stand the test of time or going to be their simple and beautifully executed songs, not their most edgy material...watch.

Coldplay Article in new Rolling Stone today! (Dec 1st)
3 things I didn't like hearing in the article. 1) The costumes aren't going anywhere next year....boo bring the old clothes back. 2) Michael Stipe telling Chris not to change it up....I always enjoyed that, it can get boring the same all the time. 3) They plan to work with Eno again. I didn't like the first collaboration, and I thought Chris said he wanted the next record to sound different again, with the same team?...
