  4. Live8 organisers have vowed to track down hoaxers who tricked charities into paying $95,000 (£50,000) to advertise at the star-studded London concert. Several British charities were contacted by a firm offering them fake 30 second commercials on the giant TV screens at the Hyde Park gig on 2 July (05). But Live8 organisers are determined to punish the those seeking to illegally capitalise on the buzz surrounding the huge showbiz event. Spokesperson Bernard Doherty says, "We haven't even got a deal in place for anyone to supply the big screens yet. It's outrageous that somebody would try to pass themselves off as Live 8. We will get to the bottom of this and come dow…

I went to see a mate play at King Alfred's Pub, Southampton, the other night and this band were performing too. They sounded a bit like Oasis/Stones Roses/Manics... basically indie. Yet they say their influences are The Kinks, Rolling Stones, Doors :/ But they're worth checking out! http://www.thekiks.co.uk/index.htm

This could be interesting, I also heard that Brad Pitt wants to play Jeff. A script currently making the rounds in Hollywood could further ignite interest in a pair of musicians, father and son, whose posthumous reputations have remained durable. Writer-producer Train Houston has secured the rights to "Dream Brother: The Lives & Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley," Entertainment Weekly music critic David Browne's 2001 book about the singer/songwriters, and has penned a screenplay on their eerily entwined lives. Tim Buckley, whose style ranged from accessible folk-pop to ethereal jazz-rock and lubricious funk, recorded nine studio albums from 1966-74 and penned su…

Saw Stabilo last night. Great group from Vancouver, BC. Hard to describe their sound. They're playing Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal this week and the western provinces in July. http://www.stabilomusic.com/ Low Millions' singer/songwriter is the son of Leonard Cohen. They've been described as a Maroon 5-ish type of band. They're touring Canada and the States at the moment. http://www.lowmillions.com/ http://www.adamcohen.com/

  14. Embrace? U2? Muse? No wonder you morons like Coldplay's insipid, half-hearted drivel. You have absolutely no clue about music. Congratulations on being the most laidback music fans on the Internet, if only because no one else is prepared to tolerate quite as much bland generic indie elevator wank as you guys do. Kudos. It's people like you that allow atrocities like X&Y to be perpetrated, and ensure that not only do mediocre bands get away with making some dull music, they actually get paid for it. Good hustle, champs.

  15. Radiohead break silence over new album Radiohead have broken the silence over their new album. Thom Yorke has told nme.com sessions for their new album remind him of working on "Kid A". The band recently regrouped to start rehearsing and recording new songs for the follow-up to 2003's "Hail To The Thief". The album, not due until next year, will be the band's seventh. Thom said that early sessions had seen the band changing the way they work, reminding him of the change between 1997 LP "OK Computer" and "Kid A". He said: "It's going well. It's a bit like "Kid A" - we're going through a period of change. But that's good. We'll get there". eeeee. i thought they wer…

Hey guys... I'm a singer/songwriter who's heavily inspired by Coldplay... and right now I'm working on simple live demos of my songs before I head into the studio with a string quartet and a piano player to record my first record. Since I am inspired by Coldplay... I'd really like to know what Coldplay fans think of the songs... before they dry and it's too late for me to change them. So if you have the time - I'd appreciate any feedback... http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg Bombs and Guns - I wrote this song a few nights ago... it's a love song about using those weapons for celebrating love... not war. I think it's the most Coldplay-ish song I have. …

  20. She's the woman who wrote Brandy's "Should I Go" and "I Tried," which both sample Coldplay. She's a Coldplay fan as well. I talked online to a girl who knows Walter Milsap and his sister. Well, here's a some info on Candice. Candice is a 25-year-old from Arkansas and her husband Walter Milsap is from Memphis, TN. Her album is expected to come out later this year on Walter's label Conjunctions. They're not sure what the distributor for the label will be. Also, they're not going to show any photos of Candice until the release of her first single. But I did get a description of her. She's a caramel-skinned, a little thick and a little chesty. The name GG stands for "…
