Hello all! I was wondering the science of tuning guitar strings...Like, on parachutes coldplay tunes down a lot to make chords easier to play hence: high speed, yellow, shiver. It's like chris tunes down his strings to play the bass strings with his thumb. I was wonder what's the easiest way to find the right now tuning to make chords easier to play. I'm very new to the guitar so sorry if this is a super noobie question lol. Thanks, Joe

I want to get a similar sound to the guitar in that song, it's just so amazing. I have a fender jazzmaster, a yamaha spx90, alesis midiverb, marshal reverb im just wondering what other pedals i would need to get to acheive this sound. A Delay and some overdrive of some sort. any help would be appreciated

i hate starting new threads, especially about non-coldplay issues but this song is great. It's played at the end of the movie "two lovers" with gwyneth paltrow and joaquin phoenix....I was wondering if any of you guitar tab pros could figure out this tab or could find it somewhere on the internet. Hey I'm trying to learn what if on piano, I learnt 90% of it in around a day, but I just cant figure out the ending.. I have noticed piano covers on youtube either skip it out completely or do a simplified version... well I want to do it properly Can anyone help me with the ending, from 4:22 to the end? Hi guys, Big fan of CP and Johnny! I've read the "Instrument Room" threads a bit and everyone is either asking for what Johnny is using as far as guitars, effects and his setup, but I need something more detailed. Does anyone have the effects setups, meaning do you know how much gain, delay, reverb etc. he uses? I'm particularly interested in the Viva La Vida era - Chinese Sleep Chant distortion, Violet Hill, the Death and all his Friends solo and the Lovers in Japan intro (the "lush chorus" as I believe Johnny put it himself) If anyone could help with this, I would greatly appreciate it!

As some of you guys know, I've had troubles with tuning for my strings always snap, so to prevent or reduce this from happening, I just tune with a capo at the first fret. So far it works for me, but I was wondering if there's anything wrong in doing this.
