Sanderson's done a top job with the last 3 books after Jordan (rigby) died- 14 in all with the last out in jan13. First 6 are good then it gets pretty complex & stodgy then speeds up again as the end nighs... Heard good things about the George martin series. Just never quite got round to starting them. Imke Posted June 29, 2012 Share Posted June 29, 2012 Well, I'm almost through with the first book, but the first chapters already felt like a copy of LOTR (black riders chasing a group of people out of their beloved and kind of isolated home, uhm okay) so I was quite demotivated. It got a bit better, but atm I don't feel like reading any more books from the series. I might give it another go when I finished all of the Ice and Fire books. I'm currently reading A Dance with Dragons. I got a copy in English (cof because they're a lot cheaper, even if you have to get them shipped cof), but I recently heard a whole chapter is missing from the Brazilian edition, which was released a couple of days ago. I probably would've finished all five books by now if I wasn't waiting for my friend. :shame: Once I'm really into a book, I can read 100 pages or more per day. I hope to start A Storm of Swords soon. I heard they're splitting that book into two seasons and I hope they'll stay a bit closer to the book than in season 2. Raymond Feist - crydee.com. At first I was appalled at the explicit scenes coming every now and then but then I remembered it's pretty much the same way with the book. Some characters were not quite to my liking, I mean, I imagined them differently, but that's just something you have to cope with. For example, Tyrion isn't as unprepossessing as Martin describes him. That actually came as a relief, I don't think I could bear so much ugliness as Martin presented in the books :lol: Oh, A Feast for Crows to be added to my summer list, yes. Thank you, added :D Oh, and may I just say that in spite of my reading Jane Eyre again, I like far more "Wuthering Heights" and "Tenant of the Wildfell Hall" ( I know it's the other sisters' :P ) so I am looking forward to seeing if Villette is better too. (I'm in your sig :o) I love the show, I just wasn't quite happy about some changes in season 2. I feel like season 1 was extremely close to the books and I don't really understand most of the changes in season 2. For me the episodes that George R. R. Martin has written himself were still the best, e.g. the battle of Blackwater Bay. :heart: The third book will be split in two seasons though, so I hope for even more detail. It's because I've read "A Clash of Kings" about two years ago and don't precisely remember details so it's difficult to compare the two and second, there are still few episodes left that I need to see, when I find time.
