I think the cover is pretty good. Damon's voice is really good and he maintained a low tune throughout which kept the feel of the original song and yet made it sound different, but maybe not a totally 'Gorillaz-style'. The glockenspiel (I hope I got the term right) used instead is quite a good change too. The whole change of instruments to keyboards etc, I like it.

So yea, I shall attempt to put everything together now from my Gorillaz show :lol: its not half as exciting as some of your experiences seeing as some of you met people from Gorillaz but I'll do my best :laugh3: Anyways, I got into VIP, which was pretty much like a VIP Lounge area, a fancy bar and eating area with alot of rich, snobby people from what I saw :lol: definately not the likelihood of any of Gorillaz turning up in there. I had a standing ticket so I went through and saw a bit of Little Dragon supporting before Gorillaz came on, she sounded pretty good and I may have to look into one of their albums now, did anyone else see them? I'm not sure who they had as support elsewhere on the tour....

 

The visuals for the show were so amazing! Obviously I'd seen them before on TV from live performances that they had done, but its just seeing that screen in front of you and in the atmosphere of the venue and with the music. When I first started listening to Gorillaz for me it was all about Damon and his talent, but seriously, I appreciate Jamie so much more than I used to, just all those different visuals, bring so much to the show, and allows the animated characters to still be part of the show, and people can see this large, instant imagery, no matter where they are in the venue. Damon seemed so happy! But never did I feel like the show was all about him, it seemed so, equal and neutral, if you see what I mean, even though its essentially his music, the show seemed to be more about a whole experience and idea, and giving that to the audience, rather than showcasing himself and having a group of people behind him. It seemed very much about a collective of people. Damon though, darting about the stage, and talking to the audience so so much, and I would like to think he was extra happy too, not just because of Gorillaz, but because he was home and he could see his family :nice:

 

I personally cannot see Damon giving up Gorillaz anytime soon, he seems so in his element and loving every moment of it, what does anyone else think? My highlights, well pretty much every song was a highlight for me seeing as I'm a keeno fan :lol: but especially Kids With Guns, Dirty Harry, Feel Good Inc, Clint Eastwood, Demon Days. But there is too many really! I have never really loved Dirty Harry as a song but I really loved that live, the more popular songs were more enjoyable because the crowd got into it more, it is a tad annoying that they played amazing album tracks that not everyone would have known or loved but there you go, not everyone listens to albums religiously I suppose! I loved the fact that Daley came on :laugh3: the song got a good reception so hopefully it will do well. I really hate how the show went so fast, seriously it felt like 1 hour not 2 hours. Damon talked about how people cannot imagine how much organisation goes into putting them shows together, you could just tell how proud he is of the whole project :nice: and apart from the fact that I'm rather short and tall people got in the way sometimes, it was really amazing and I want to go again :wacky:

Yes, everything you just said here!!! You can tell Damon wants the audience to appreciate everyone else on stage too! I love when he introduces Paul and Mick before Plastic Beach I think, god. Another reason I feel like why he loves Gorillaz so much. Not as much pressure is put on him as it was when in Blur, being front and center all the time as the front man.

Totally, he was so happy on stage. You can this is what drives him to keep making music this way. The collaboration and bouncing creative ideas around with other amazing musicians. It's honestly so sad when I go on the Blur forums and people are still complaining about Damon doing Gorillaz instead of releasing new Blur material. I mean yes, honestly I love Blur the most and it means more to me, but if this is what is making him happy at the moment then please just fuck right on off selfish fans.

 

I love that they definitely played a full 2 hours! Gorillaz shows, you really get your monies worth and all the legends you get to see. DEFINITELY!

Well I met Damon in Cambridge, Mick & Paul in a pub next to the venue in Portsmouth (that was even more intimate!) before the gig had started and I was like '':stunned: HI!'', and Jeff walked through the regular entrance but noone recognised him and I said ''have a good gig!'' to him and he said ''Cheers buddy''

Just finished watching these videos from their recent Radio 1 Live Lounge session and frankly, i'm in awe. I absolutely LOVE this acoustic version of Doncamatic (that guy Daley's voice is amazing :stunned:) and Crystalised is simply hypnotic. :stunned: And On Melancholy Hill is just beautiful. :wacky: Actually, if anyone could rip decent mp3s of these i'd be eternally grateful.
