November 21, 201015 yr They've got fangirls nao. D: Btw, I'm totally fine with Funeral and Neon Bible. And yeah, The Suburbs isn't good.
November 21, 201015 yr The Suburbs is amazing. Just because it's more popular than the previous ones, doesn't mean it's worse.

Don't listen to that faaaeg Lexa, I don't really care about their popularity or what kinda fans they have (And to be honest I don't know what she's talking about how they've suddenly became obnoxiously famous) but first and foremost the album sucks to me. I like about 3 songs.
November 21, 201015 yr The Suburbs is amazing. Just because it's more popular than the previous ones, doesn't mean it's worse. When the hell did I say that it's bad cos it has fangirls all over it? I dislike it, it isn't as good as the previous two. I dislike it, the music isn't as good. You just needed a shit reason to defend them and point out indirectly how much you love them.
November 22, 201015 yr It's definitely not as good as Funeral... I strongly doubt the band could ever top that album, but I still enjoy the new album quite a bit.

November 22, 201015 yr To be fair you kind of implied that you don't like arcade fire much now because of fangirls. I didn't. I said I don't like The Suburbs, then added that they've got annoying fangirls now. The fact that they've got fangirls doesn't make me dislike the album, just the fangirls.
November 22, 201015 yr Haha I guess we all emerged from the woodwork to vent our opinions again. I'll leave it at one last thing: parts of that album make me feel genuinely ill from time to time (Eg the timing in Modern Man). :blank: OK I'm done for a few months, seeya in '11 folks! Happy Hannukkah and a merry new year!
November 24, 201015 yr Found this in the local paper, sorry if its already been posted Arcade Fire's Win Butler: I don't envy Barack Obama's job right now Win Butler, 30, is the American singer/songwriter with indie band Arcade Fire, also featuring his wife Regine and brother William. They’ve released three albums, including The Suburbs. They performed concerts for Obama’s election campaign and fund-raisers for Haiti Are you a product of the suburbs? My brother and I grew up in suburban Houston, which is about as suburban as it gets. I didn’t realise how much I wanted to get out until I was gone. It’s like music – you can’t like music if you’ve never heard about it before. Until you’ve seen something of the world, it’s hard to know what it’s like where you live. What are your memories of Houston at that time? I was there from five until 15 or 16. My brother and I had the typical relationship when we were young – we’d fight a lot. I went away to boarding school when I was 15. I’d come home in summer and all of a sudden it was a lot harder to relate to my friends from the woodlands. Increasingly, I realised my brother and I had everything in common – the same music, the same upbringing. We got a lot closer. We’d play music. I’d write songs and he would play along with me. Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown was at your school. Is that a source of pride or shame? One of my best friends had him as an English teacher. He came to my English class and did a thing on how to write potboilers. I remember he said: ‘The first thing for writing a good story is starting with an exotic location.’ Does having your wife and brother in the band lead to arguments? Argument and tension are the lifeblood of a band. If you can’t tell each other things suck, you can’t be in a band together. It’s a sign of healthiness. Your wife’s family is from Haiti. What are your thoughts on what’s happening there? A lot of the money promised to Haiti after the earthquake never made it. The US and Canada each promised a billion dollars to Haiti, which is all frozen because everyone’s worried about the economy. The cholera outbreak is a direct result of the fact people are living in tents in really close quarters and the sanitation and infrastructure hasn’t been repaired. We can’t pretend what’s happening there isn’t related to us. Is there a lot more that needs to be done? Yes. Only 30 per cent of the rubble has been cleared. If one hundredth of what’s happening in Haiti happened in the UK, it would be the biggest global outcry in the history of the world. The main thing right now is getting governments to release the money they promised. It’s pretty shameful it’s just sitting there. You supported Obama’s campaign. How do you think he’s doing? I definitely don’t envy his job right now. He’s been able to get a lot of things through that are maybe a little more subtle. The main thing for me is a lot of the people working on Haiti policy are competent – that was definitely not the case under Bush. Are you worried about a swing to the right? It always happens. It’s kind of like worrying about the weather. Most of the really far-right Tea Party candidates lost this last election. The Obama election showed, if anything, the country as a whole is more moderate than it was eight years ago. Three albums in, do you have an idea of where you want to go next? The best thing we ever did was take a big chunk of time off before this record and just connect to life. Great music always comes out of that, because if you’re only in hotel rooms, you don’t have much to write about. Do you plan to take another break at some point? We’re actually doing that a bit in the middle of this touring cycle. We’re going to be taking some time and trying to smell the roses. We’re planning a trip to Haiti this winter. I’m looking forward to that, rather than touring through the whole winter. We’re going to try and actually get creative again. The Suburbs (Mercury) is out now. Arcade Fire tour Britain from December 1 to 12, including London’s O2 Arena on December 1 and 2. November 24, 201015 yr I didn't even know Win and Regine were married, boooo . Anyway, good article!
November 25, 201015 yr ARCADE FIRE - GIANT STEPS "In a lot of ways, The Libertines have to behave more like a married couple than us." - Win Butler It was the year Arcade Fire jumped from art-rock's awkward squad to global arena-fillers. Q joined them for the journey...spending three momths with them from August to October 2010. We talk about intial fears their third album might have arrived "dead in the water" to dealing with the growing pains and creative differences that occur on their current trajectory towards becoming the biggest band on the planet and how they feel about that unsought honour. I wish I could get that magazine here :bomb:
November 26, 201015 yr Seeing them in a few hours ! I'm SO EXCITED !!!!! Btw, I was wondering, do they usually play Deep Blue?
November 26, 201015 yr They played it live for the first time at the show I went to in Montreal. I don't think it is as regular as other Suburbs songs.
