Arcade Fire

I've no idea what that is all about, but I'm excited. I hope it's a live release.

Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

I'd be happy if each track was every member of the band having a belching contest.

The single is City With No Children. Shame given it's one of my least favourites off the record.

I highly doubt the album will be of new original studio material. Probably a live album or something.

the manager said they don't have a realease planned :uhoh:

I've been really really into them recently

especially Neon Bible om nom nom~

I can smell an Australian tour soon!

:bomb:

So are there lots of ppl here seeing them during the summer at festivals etc? :wacky: and anyone luuuucky enough to be going to the Chicago concert with The National? :freak:
I am. And I will be battling for the second show tickets in about 1 1/2 hours.

^so. jealous.

Put on your dancing shoes Mike because we are on the Dance Floor for both nights!

I had to miss The National when they came to Houston because The LCD Soundsystem were playing the same night so I am looking forward to getting to see them.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! You guys are gonna have a great time! :awesome:

If you may recall, I had to unfortunately sell my tickets for their L.A. show in October because of a schedule conflict, so fortunately I'll have another chance with Coachella. Obviously that won't be as intimate, and the other awesome bands I want to see that day will probably mean I won't be too close to the stage for Arcade Fire, but I hear festivals are a fantastic way to see them. (and people still rave over their past Coachella sets)

ah sooooo jealous I can't even read this post again  no but really I bet it'll be so amazing no matter whatever conditions you see them in! and dude Coachella this year (well every year more like haha) is so freaking amazing, you're gonna have a great time! :wacky: Are you going on all days?

Yeah, they changed the ticket policy last year so you can only buy a full 3-day pass, so I couldn't go to just one day even if I wanted to. :P

As it stands, it's not 100% that I'm going since I'm currently trying to sort out lodging, but once that gets done (hopefully soon), I'm buying my pass.

Oh and if I get the money loaned from my dad then I might go to the Benicàssim festival in Spain in July which also has Arcade Fire! Just hoping that it works out cos that festival already has an amazing lineup and it's only headliners now :freak:

Ooh, hope that works out!

So I've had Arcade Fire's discography for a long time now. Finally got around to listening to it all.

Not sure if it's related or not that I came like 9 times in the past few of hours.

^your overflowing penis has probably nothing to do with AF's music.

:anxious:

Rumors are there will be an expanded edition of the Suburbs with the DVD in it and maybe a few more songs.

^Thats alright because I only ended up buying the vinyl version and never got around the the CD. But really, it's a rip off for most other fans, unless they make it available separate.

i really am dying of jealousy here over those Chicago shows

maybe they'll both play Osheaga this summer

If they play Osheaga again I'll go.

It's interesting, about a month ago an Aussie radio station held a poll which resulted in The Suburbs being listeners' #1 album for 2010. Today the top 100 songs, again voted by listeners, was counted down and although AF had 3 songs in the countdown, they were all in the lower half of the songs (The Suburbs at #58, Ready to Start at #63 and Modern Man at #83).

my theory always has been. having a lot of great songs on the same album can be a bad thing in these polls. cos instead having all the fans vote for the one song you have that same group of fans voting for a number of songs in turn giving each song fewer votes.

and to get really picky haha. the two polls are quite different. one is run by richard kingsmill and voted on predominantly by people who listen to his show every night sunday. so about 15 000 or so people. the hottest 100 countdown attracted 155 000 votes this year. predominantly people who listen to the station once or twice a week.

while we're talking AF and hottest 100. before this countdown they had only ever had 1 song ever in the hottest 100. which is incredible considering how popular they are. The Suburbs at #58 is the best they've ever done.
