Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow plan public show of affection

 

 

At last, some good news for the planet. Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are not splitting up, despite almost everyone else in the world outside their living room claiming this is the case. This is great news because it means there is little chance of waking up next to either of them after a drunken night out, as they'll be sitting in and weaving their own yoghurt together.

 

The couple are planning to appear together on the red carpet at the upcoming Grammy awards, smiles frozen in place and clenching each other's hands determinedly, to show that everything is well in their world (except their ghostly pallor), each whispering to the other to look cheerful lest they give the game away.

 

Maybe their relationship really is fine. Despite rarely being pictured out together Gwyneth has reportedly been faithfully attending Coldplay's shows at the 02 arena every single night, and if sitting through one of those tedium-fests night after night isn't love then I don't know what is. Chris even takes every opportunity to signal his love towards Gwyneth during the songs, perhaps mouthing little love snippets such as 'Bit cold in here, isn't it?' and 'Fancy some soup when we wrap this up tonight? I love cream of tomato, me!'

 

Oddly though the band have been performing the song 'Green Eyes', a love song which Chris 'retired' after meeting Gwyneth as she doesn't have green eyes. Gwyneth probably hasn't noticed this as like everyone else she falls asleep as soon as they've done 'Yellow'. Even Gwyneth's mother Blythe Danner (which sounds like an indolent porn star's name) spoke out to Fox News and said the couple were fine, there was nothing to see here and you should all move along.

Not normally a word used in connection with the dour pair, but they will reportedly be spending the Christmas period patching things up between them and recapturing the spark which made them one of the most interesting couples on the planet, once again nattering away about bicycle repair kits and their favourite knitwear like there's no tomorrow. I think they're kinda stuck regarding the Grammys. If they DO walk down the carpet together, people will say "Oh, it's just an attempt to cover up marriage troubles, they never walk down carpets together"... But if they DON'T, the media will be like "OMGZ DIVORCE!!111!!11" :rolleyes:

Camera coy couple Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are plotting a rare photo opportunity together following fresh speculation about their marriage.

 

The Coldplay star and his Hollywood wife are reportedly planning to break their irritating pact of being photographed separately at all times to put on a defiant show of unity on the red carpets at the Grammy Awards on February 8. The publicity plan coincides with a fresh denial from Martin who insists his marriage is not in tatters. 'I'm trying to think of when the last bit of bad news was' said the singer. 'Well there hasn't been anything for a while. I'm supposed to be getting divorced but those things aren't happening so don't really count as bad news.'

 

Martin's fight back comes after his Coldplay lads were nominated for a staggering seven gongs at the event. Even his own mother-in-law, actress Blythe Danner, has stepped forward to defend her daughter's marriage and the absence of public sightings.

 

'They don't take pictures together if they can avoid it. It's a strategy. They don't want the pandemonium', said Danner.

 

Earlier this month the spotlight was again cast on the aloof couple after Gwyneth spent time partying in Miami keeping a watchful eye on good chum Madonna's friend, Alex Rodriguez. But Paltrow, 36, has been keen to show she is the ever supportive spouse, attending all of Coldplay's recent shows at London's 02 Arena.

 

And while Gwyn may have been proud of her man's performances, Martin says he is unhappy at his band's stage shows. The down beat 31-year-old told Radio One: 'I would give them a 3 out of 10, that's good for me!'

I never believed the rumors of them splitting up and I think it would be good if they do this. But this reminds me of a dream I had on saturday where Gwyneth Paltrow was at my house talking to me and my brothers and all of a sudden she started to say how everything in her life she failed at and started naming things and then she said her marriage and then I started shaking her saying NOOO you and chris are NOT getting a divorce!!!! HE LOVES YOU!! You guys are perfect for each other and stuff like that. And then I was like listen to his lyrics!! "Oh love don't let me go" He wants you! He wants you to fight for him! LISTEN TO HIM! LISTEN TO HIS LYRICS!! And so then she went to her house and went up to Chris and was like I'm going to fight for you and he was like that's all i wanted to know or something like that and then he was like let's go for a walk!! And they went on a walk and let the paps take pictures of them and silenced everybody!!

And then i woke up very confused.

Yep, they're damn if they do or damn if they don't walk down the red carpet together. If they do walk together then people are going to say that they are trying to make it seem that their marriage is all good just like Madonna and Guy. When things were being said about them that is what they did and look what happened a few months later...divorce. But, if they don't then the media will still say their marriage is on the rocks. It's a no-win situation for them.

 

IMO, I think they should not give in to the media by walking the red carpet together so that they can be photographed together. They made the agreement of not doing those things and they should stick to it. If they give in to the media then the media wins and the media should never win by forcing folks to do something that they don't want to do. As long as they know that their marriage is fine then that is all that matters. It doesn't matter what the media or anyone else want. If they're happy then screw the rest.

It's a rather small chance, but perhaps they want to... who knows :confused: we haven't even gotten a source for these reports yet

i guess we'll just see what happens when it happens, but i'm quite surprised that they're planning to do it together, if what that article says is true. even though they're going to get shit either way for it, i feel like they'd get less shit for just doing it together, but what do i know?

Who said that they have to be there? Just because one is nominated does not mean that they have to attend. Though many celebrities attend award shows, just as many celebrities avoid award shows even if they are nominated.

 

The interesting thing is that the category Gwyneth is nominated in is going to be announce before the show is even aired on TV and while some are still arriving at the show. So, it would be interesting to see if she attends to see if she wins and then comes out early enough to walk the red carpet.

I'm not convinced they are in trouble either, but yes, parading on the red carpet would seem way too contrived.

If they really want people to believe they are ok, how about wearing a wedding ring again. Or Chris could for once - instead of constantly gushing about every woman around (girls aloud the 'ultimate form of life'??, telling Chris Moyles he just dreamt of Rosario Dawson) - make a flattering comment about Gwyneth. Doesn't have to be a 5 minute rant .....

And didn't he say when he was asked yesterday how the family was, something like 'they are fine .. I think'.

In another interview just before one of the UK shows a few days back he was supposed to describe his immediate surroundings. He said 'grey and bleak' or something like that. And when asked where he was exacly he joked 'in my bedroom'. Hmmm.

Anyways, if things were that bad, why would Gwyneth show up at his shows again and again :-)

The ring thing does puzzle me I must admit.

 

That's not to say I think it's an indication of the state of their marriage and I know a ring is just a ring yada yada. But he wore them for almost 5 years and then suddenly just stopped.

 

I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for it, my guess is that he wants people to forget he's married, to stop asking etc...but he he seems so reluctant to even acknowledge her existence anymore, like you said always talking about other girls and giving vague answers to an innocent question like "how's the family?"

 

As I said I don't think this is an indication of the state of their marriage, I know he's insanely private, but there's a limit I think and at some point this year he's become more paranoid than ever, and I think it's this desire to be as private as possible that has spurred on these relentless rumours.

My thoughts on this are that Chris is actually borderline rude lately in interviews, and I honestly think that is they were to appear in public, it would not create a pandemonium as Blythe Danner recently said, I actually think it would normalise the pair of them. Chris is (please don't shout at me anyone for saying this) a normalish bloke when compared to the status of Gwyneth, and I really think that her profile might be affected by being seen with the unstarlike Chris. Don;t get me wrong, I love coldplay, think he is great as are all members of this fantastic group, but I can't help but hink that Gwyneth might go down from A List to... don't know, another list??? He is such a nice guy, that I actually speculate it is her insistence that they never appear publicly together rather than his, and firmly believe that if they were to just see each other nornally - like sting and trudy tyler for example, then they would just be the 'normal couple'. They are already caricatured as a bit dull. It's not as if they both have the bling quality that David and Victoria Beckham play up to. If anything, poor Chris might take the shine off the very polished and Madonnaesque Gwynnie!!

... I didn't explain why I thought he was being rude in interview. When asked on XFM Manchester if he ever gets insecure and to differentiate between the Chris on stage and the Chris at home, he was really rude and offish with the interviewer. The interviewer incidentally was an ex member of the inspiral carpets, from Manchester and a really nice guy. Chris said, 'well i'm not the person to comment about that person'. Clearly saying don't ask me anything about me!!! I just thought it was really rude because the interviewer was such a nice bloke, and because he was so personable, Chris came across as arrogant and rude and a little snobbish to be honest. So, a new strategy would be, for Chris and Gwyn to appear in public together, become normal again, admit that there is a homelife, be honest and perhaps Gwyneth should stop dressing up for the cameras and courting all the attention.
