Random Coldplay thoughts...

Featured Replies

i was just watching spaced on DVD when i noticed a certain yellow poster in the background:

cap001ve0.png

i made the :freak: face when i saw the first band listed. and my mind exploded when i saw what other bands were on that flyer: muse? elbow? badly drawn boy? doves? :stunned:

this episode of spaced is from 2001, before coldplay really were anybody! if only simon pegg knew he would become best friends with the lead singer of that first little-known band on the list and become godfather to his children!

  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

Yesterday I went to a music shop to ask them about Prospekt's March, and when I got there they played Lost! And then when I got to the desk Viva La Vida Album was there :D. Those two things really made me smile!

My friends who went with me of course thought it was weird. And he thought it was even more weird that I had to wait in the store until the song was finished!

^Haha, some people... They just don't understand.

Nice story. :D I would have smiled like an idiot myself.

Haha, I know! People just don't know what love is, do they?

Btw, I would have definitly done the same, if I was at the salon :P! I'm sure they would have kicked me out or something !

^^

My mom and friends think I'm odd only because my idiot smile when I hear a Coldplay song on the street

aww daniel, i love your new avi :D. i can't wait for snow and christmas!

and i definitely do that too. we went to a restaurant on my birthday, and the first song that came on the radio when i was there was VLV :wacky:

Chelsea I think Chris and Simon were already friends at this point...which is why he probably put the poster up :D

Thanks for the cap :nice:

you think they were friends back in 2000 and 2001? definitely could be, but i thought they met through gwyneth, who was already friends with him, and gwyneth and chris didn't even meet until 2002, right? or am i completely off?

wiki says i'm wrong, though. who knows? :P

I think Wiki is off. They were friends waaaay before Chris was with Gwyneth. I've heard Simon tell the story a few times cos the poor guy always gets asked about Chris :dozey:

They met in 2000, Chris went up to Simon at a gig and started saying how much he loved Big Train and they've been friends ever since. Simon played harmonica on Don't Panic at the V2001 festival :D

Thanks chelsea  Yay! Christmas time is so soon!

oh dude. i was totally off! that was in 2001?! i thought that was like, late 2002 or something, and i totally thought they met through gwyneth somehow :dunce:. i remember that video, though, haven't seen it in ages.

anyway, still cool to see that poster in spaced :D

Well Chris, Jonny and Simon did an OXFAM gig with Noel Gallagher in late 2002, but he'd played harmonica at V2001 before that too :D

Definitely cool though. Gotta love Spaced :D Did you buy the Region 2 version of Spaced when it came out there? :idea2:

nah, actually, some very nice coldplayer gave it to me when i was in england  :P

i have to watch it on my computer to unlock the region, but it's totally worth it :D

My computer only allows me to change the region code 5 times before it's set for good. It's such a pain in the ass, since I got this awesome limited edition numbered version of Concert for Bangladesh when I worked at Apple Records. When I got home, I was so excited to watch it, and alas- wrong region code! :bigcry:

Anyway, my random Coldplay thought of the day is: How awesome are Coldplay that they drop butterfly confetti on stage and in their video when some musicians are singing about pimps, etc.? Can you imagine sending a video with butterflies to MTV these days? :P

(I'm not criticizing other music, just saying...)

you can download programs that enable you to watch DVDs from any region. i use AnyDVD :D

and that's definitely true about music and videos these days. thank god for bands like coldplay for keeping up the posterity and integrity :nice:

Really?! Well this changes everything! :P I've been waiting almost a whole year to watch that damn DVD...

Yeah, I was just imagining some music video marathon on VH1 (which doesn't happen at all anymore with all of those crappy shows), and between all of those gross videos... butterflies? :nice: I respect the band a lot for that. It must take guts.

Other random thought: What does it mean that a lot of Coldplayers immediately gravitated towards the PM song that Chris called their "only safety net"- LIT2?

that it was definitely one of the ones chris was talking about when he said there are two songs everyone needs to hear before they die . that's what i think, anyway :D

where did chris call it a safety net? i guess he might mean that just because it's poppy and could be a major hit even if their "new direction" didn't catch on. but it did, so he's got nothing to worry about.

I went to a few bars in a city yesterday and a friend of mine parked the car in the garage.

When we went to the elevator (since we had to park waaaaaay high) VLV was playing in the garage.

I was like: omg :O Ans I just stood there and listened to it. My friends laughed their asses off :p

Btw.. that video is so cute :o

1. LOL so funny how the music is backtracked, especially the backing vocals. You can even hear the piano lol.

2. HOLY SHIT! Jonny's "playing" a strat! when the heck did he get a strat!?!?

the other day i was at a resturaunt and i heard dont panic :)

How is Coldplay's fifth album going to beat Viva?

Same way the Joshua Tree beat The Unforgettable Fire, with pure music godliness!

I was just listening to the preview of "Rainy Day", and my brother walked by and said: "Is that one of the preview songs for Coldplay's new album? It's good... not excellent, but pretty good."
