I don't think it'll be a matter of months. My guess is late October. The increase in journal entries by Prospekt was clearly meant to generate hype and it's a bad PR manager they've got if his idea of building anticipation is to get people excited then make them wait 10 weeks; I also seriously doubt that Prospekt can keep posting interesting news at this rate. I'd expect a release date by the 10th October, myself - maybe a little later than that.

The album will NOT be called Prospekt. The name did initially have relevance to the album, but not anymore. It's a pseudonym, if you will, of the person who writes the studio journals.

 

p.s The album was never schedule for 2007, so has not been pushed back.

They're kind of playing with us a bit - first "Prospekt" said in early September (the entry is gone now?) that we shouldn't expect too much of an album with that "expect concise, short record", now he's saying it's going to be their best ever.

I don't really mind, but I think the new album won't be released before the New Year. As someone from here put it, they're perfectionists, they'll do it all once again, maybe include a song, etc.

Anyway, it's better to wait for new Prospekt entries than to be here with no news at all..it's a great introspective way through that website I think

 

How does 'short and concise' and 'best ever' negate themselves? Some of the best albums ever are shorter (Either by time or by track number). Short and concise does not a middling album make!

 

I mean... look at 'Parachutes'. Nine tracks (Don't Panic and Parachutes being brief tracks along with the "tenth" track Life is for Living) and it's one of the greatest albums released in the last ten years. Certainly one of the best debut albums ever.

I'm not really expecting any album to come out this year. If it does, great! but I don't really believe there's going to be a release this year. The Prospek guy writes I don't know too highly of them (Not that it's bad but I don't know. His entries just kinda annoy me). I also think it's a studio tech person like Angie said.

I think they'll release the album in march or maybe may of the next year... and well... since all the stuff that prospekt wrote... I really hope it will be the best album...

I agree. Coldplay mixes way too much and as time passes they seem to take longer for an album to be released. I just really hope Im wrong. :(

Ok, now we know it's not going to be called Prospekt & the album's out in 2008.

Not surprised, but I think it's going to be worth waiting for..it's only a few more months so it's not that bad.

I never wanted to put an impression that a short and concise record would sound bad. It could sound great, but you could feel the tension as Prospekt wrote it.

The Prospekt guy was obviously not in a great mood, but the next time he went on saying it's going to be their best ever. I don't mind if it's 8 songs long, as long as it's quality. And I think this could be their best record yet...

I thought I heard a new song at a restaurant tonight, I havent listened to any coldplay in months though. Came on here tonight and am very happy to hear that a new album is done, looking forward to it!!

I think it is exciting to know the album is close to being finished...but as it has been mentioned that doesn't mean it is "done."

 

I do remember when Speed of Sound was premiered on Steve Lamacq's show and how excited I was to hear it (even though SOS ended up being one of my least favorites on X&Y).

 

I can't wait for that "rush" again! :)
