man, they're so humble, I LOVE THEM!!!

Chris even said "THANK YOU" to Edward Norton & Liv Tyler! Never head a band doing that before!!!

yep i always believe what they say. they are good guys with pressure and problems its like an oral exam when you study all night and when the exam come you begin to stutter.

That was one thing I kept in mind while watching it, and one of the reasons I never bother to buy concert DVDs. When you're there in person, it doesn't matter how much they suck, your excitement plus that of the hundreds or thousands of people around you is what makes it amazing. Was it just me, of did they have Chris' vocals up WAY too high? I could barely hear the rest of the band, and it made his problems stand out.

Awesome icon btw.

Yeah, but award shows in particular have a long history of making vocals sound pitchy-er than they actually are because the person mixing them is not used to working with that band or person. And yes they do very often mix the lead singer in too loud like they did tonight. I saw them at the Juno awards a couple of years ago, and Chris's voice sounded one way in person and another way on tv. Even worse, Broken Social Scene were heavenly live at the same show and sounded like complete and total crap on tv because the sound guy wouldn't mix all the different vocals together- or even bring in many of the instruments- you wouldn't even have known Feist was singing and yet she was supposed to have been blended in equally. The next year everyone who blogged about rehersals commented about how Nelly Furtado seems to have perfect pitch live and how great she sounded, and then they even managed to make her sound pitchy that night. So I don't trust award shows in particular to ever get it right. Concert recordings and DVDs are often quite good imho because the person who normally mixes that band is involved- I'm actually a bit of a live bootleg junkie.

As for the avatar, thanks, though I can't take credit for it. I forget where I found it, but it is great, isn't it. Two of my favorite things collided. :nice:

Just watched it. I thought the performance was great. His voice seemed fine to me.....

He has a right to be nervous: MTV is all about rap and that fall out boy bullshit. :dozey: Which is why I was suprised they chose to sing VLV and not Violet Hill. Half of the people in the audience were probably like, "Who is this???"

Actually, on the red carpet thing before the show a lot of people were saying that they were looking forward to Coldplay's performance.

i was excited to see coldplay's first appearance for VIVA and I love their look, I love how will had the two drums and the bell, Guy and Johnny and Will all singing the oh oh oh's sounded GREAT! Chris' voice seemed like he was a nervous wreck. I dunno if he was or that since he is out of practice, singing live or what. I don't know. But the overall performance by the band as a whole was really good. No magic ball :(

Oh yeah, i saw that. Me and my friend totally freaked when we saw them on the carpet. :D

I just hope they aren't beating themselves up over this one performance, it's MTV. :dozey: [sorry, hate MTV with a passion] I know they probably are because they really want to impress everyone with this new album but don't worry, you guys. I loved it. :nice:

yeah, music's in a terrible state if ppl think the pussycat dolls were better.

i still can't get over how bad the pussycat dolls were. they literally put me in a bad mood for making me watch that.

My boyfriend stated that Adam Sandler's little song thing was better than Chris' vocals during their performance.

I honestly don't understand this.

The vocals in the first verse weren't the best I've ever heard but were far from the worst.

Everything past "ever wanna be king?" was perfect.

I honestly thought it was a good performance!

twas good...chris' voice was a little edgy...didn't like the confettie

You might think im terrible, but i was praying Nicole from PCD would fall off that rising pedastal thingy. :P

They diffently were NOT better than CP, i don't care how much i like their new single. Whores. :P

My bro and I thought it kind of funny how in the introduction she referred to coldplays hits like "shiver" and not clocks. Funny because shiver is probably the least known and least known coldplay single.

haha, don't exaggerate, CP is not some obscure indie band.

In Iowa they are...

GET ME OUT OF HERE!!! WHO CARES IF I WAS BORN HERE!! EVERYONE IN TOWN LIKES EITHER HANNA MONTANA OR COUNTRY!!! HEEELLLLLPPPP MMEEEEEE!!!

Guy and Johnny and Will all singing the oh oh oh's sounded GREAT! :(

Am I the only one who seriously doubts they were actually singing this part ?

haha Your post made me think of this : "I learned something while on the road. State Shapes: The easier it is draw, the harder it is to live in them. So if you live in a regular polygon, then get the hell out! You gotta move to a squiggly area.Culture is attracted to squiggles. " Demetri Martin

I noticed that too! The least known and the best in my opinion :)

Will did hes thing better than the rest

Will did an awesome job although he looked pissed off.

I thought it was an all right performance. Chris did sound a bit shaky. I would have been too if a piece of confetti tried to choke me too. lol! :P

I honestly don't understand this.

Completely agree. It's like Chris got over his nerves at about that point.

I find that usually Coldplay needs to get in the groove of doing these songs live on a big stage. First time I herd Speed of Sound live on SNL it sounded bloody brutal.
