very good news. So we will have the comic books and the film. Not an EP, but it is a nice treat. I really hope that the film comes with a tour diary.

his best friend Rex can't quite support.

And we finally get a mention of the mysterious Rex. :surprised:

Well, Feb 2013 seems like plenty of time to release an EP as well :D

Yeah I'm wondering whether I'm going to like this or not. I'll give it a shot.

Same here

But I kinda liked all the mystery in this era, and I'm afraid it'll all go away with the comic...:\ You know, like they say they don't like explaining their songs because they want everyone to have their own interpretation, and meaning..

But still I really want to have a look at it :wideeyed:

And the fact that Phil is apparently an important part of the project makes me want to see the result even more :awesome:

I hope I'll be able to order the issues (I won't have internet between August 3rd and August 26th :worried2: )

i don't think the comic would change anything. even though it is coming from an "official" source, i would still consider it only one possible interpretation of the story/world.

I have my story played out in my head when listening to the album, and I am very open, and excited to finding out the adventures they have come up with:cool:

Oh this is getting me so excited! But then after we read the whole thing, there may not be space for interpretation of the songs except how they fit with the comic... The mystery is lost, as Coeurli said.

^Sure, it's only one way to interpret it

Still, it kinda gets in the way...

But the comic itself will open up many different interpretations, like any other form of art. ;) At least for me it will. :)

as i like to say, there is always fan fiction.

if you don't like the comic's story, change it and make it your own. :P

Not a news piece from coldplay.com, but can't find the relevant thread - sorry! Has anyone seen the new-look recordings section? Go to it, click on lyrics for one of them, and enjoy! I like the redesign, quite efficient :)

I noticed that earlier. It's a lot nicer!

From what Mark Osborne said in the interview, I think it won't be extremely direct.

It's just that we already know a lot about the background story and inspiration from what Chris has told, not to mention our own interpretations about the album.

I doubt the comic could completely change the view of the album, anyway.

Yeah I agree. The songs aren't going to be explicitly explained, but instead it's more of a story, I think, that go along with the songs.

It's just so exciting that we'll have so much to look forward to! The coldplay film and now this! Yay, this will help me get through until I see them in concerr again :D

Hmmmm man I really don't like that drawing style... well it's just one image, let's see how this will turn out

whoa. I have no idea how I feel about this yet. I think I'll let it sit for a while...

I THINK I like the idea, although I'll never look to it as an "explanation for the songs" or something. To me, the songs mean what they mean because of how I've interpreted them personally, not because of a comic book...

To me, the songs mean what they mean because of how I've interpreted them personally, not because of a comic book...

and that shouldn't change for you. It's the same with any piece of art- the author/creator has their meaning behind the work and the audience views the piece according to how they interpret it, not the author's interpretation.

I'm mega excited for this :D

something else then the comic:

how long has the recordings section been this cool?

^A few weeks already I think

the lyrics part of it, to be precisely

I'm really looking forward to it. I can understand those that don't want to lose a certain interpretation of a song in their head, and if I thought it would ruin something for me in that regard, I'd probably steer clear of the comic. BUT I'm excited for it, especially because Chris and Phil have been working on it for so long (it couldn't be bad just for that alone ;)), and it will be an interesting glimpse into their minds when it comes to the album.
