So far Swansea are on their way to the Premier League

Reading 0-2 Swansea (30 mins)

So odds on the Swans being next season's EPL "whipping boys", then?

The Trophy cabinet isn't completly bare this year at Inter now, Sneijder and Eto'o were great although overall I thought Palermo played better.

3-0 now

disaster for Reading!

I think you're Reading far too much into it!:P

So it has happened, a Welsh team is in the English Premier-League, now renamed to the England & Wales Premier League (EWPL) ;)

For one season only, though.

Scholes officially retires, end of a great career.

incredible career

ONE CLUB :D

675 games (4th highest for Man Utd)

150 goals (9th highest for Man Utd)

10 EPL titles

3 FA Cups

2 Champions Leagues

3rd most booked played in EPL history

Outright most booked played in Champions League history

66 games and 14 goals for England.

Scholes officially retires, end of a great career.

It was inevitable. Only Giggs left from that all-conquering youth squad now.;)

So Paul Scholes has retired. A truly truly BRILLIANT player. A great ambassador and an example for every young footballer out there.

Some crackers he has scored in his career (sorry about the music). Can't say a bad word about him...even though he did play for Manchester United!

All-conquering in more ways than one

Ryan Giggs, breaking young girls hearts since 1991

We'll miss him. Love you, Scholes.

I'm going to miss him! And I'm a Liverpool fan!

Allardyce promises promotion after West Ham confirm Big Sam as new manager

Sam Allardyce has set his sights on a quick return to the Premier League after being confirmed as the new manager of West Ham.

The former Bolton, Newcastle and Blackburn boss has agreed a two-year contract at Upton Park.

Allardyce said: 'It is an honour to be the new manager of West Ham United. It is a fantastic club with a great tradition and loyal supporters who deserve to be in the Premier League.

'I can't wait to begin pre-season training as I am determined to get this club back where it belongs.

'I wouldn't have taken this job if I didn't think we could bounce straight back into the Premier League. More than that, I wouldn't have contemplated the job if I didn't think there was the opportunity to build something substantial at West Ham.'

Sportsmail exclusively revealed Hammers co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan's move for Allardyce on Saturday morning.

His advisors spent Tuesday thrashing out terms over the move to Upton Park, which includes a substantial bonus for promotion.

Allardyce added: ''There is a core of very talented young players at the club who've come up through the youth system, have West Ham in their blood and who I know I can build a successful team around.

'That's what I'm looking forward to, managing a club that wins more games than it loses and competing at the top of the table. We need to create a winning mentality and give the fans a team they can be proud to watch.

'I know there will be West Ham fans asking whether I'm going to abandon the style of play that's been the club's heritage over the years. All I'll say is it will be a tale of home and away.

'At Upton Park we'll attempt to play the kind of passing game the fans want. We will aim to continue in the same way on our travels but we'll also be tough, hard to beat and utterly resilient.'

Allardyce's appointment brings to an end the club's two-week search for a new manager after Avram Grant was sacked following relegation to the Championship.

Martin O'Neill, Alex McLeish, Neil Warnock and Dave Jones were all serious contenders for the role.

Friends reunited: Neil McDonald will be named as Allardyce's No 2 at Upton Park

Allardyce has been out of work since his shock sacking by Blackburn last December.

The Hammers' new boss has confirmed he will bring his former Ewood Park No 2 Neil McDonald with him to East London.

Allardyce admits he is unlikely to be able to prevent an exodus of the club's best players.

Goalkeeper Robert Green, striker Carlton Cole and player of the year Scott Parker are all expected to quit Upton Park over the summer.

'That's probably going to be the case for financial reasons,' Allardyce told talkSPORT. 'When a club is relegated it's a massive loss of revenue and you have to adjust.

'But for me, whatever happens, the basis is there of a very good squad and some good young players.'

On the future of England midfielder Parker, he added: "I don't know yet, we'll have to wait and see. From a distance it looks very difficult, but there is no indication of any bids for Scott yet.'

^Poor West Ham. Just when their fans thought it couldn't get any worse!

Weren't they supposed to be the team of "pure football"? Well now they're going to be playing pure sh*t football!:P

Hahaha West Ham.

They've got to the stage where they have to take the icky medicine which helps them. Eventually they'll outgrow it and get rid, and that will be a special day. He's a decent manager for any struggling club, as long as it's not yours!

Let's see how long they put up with the dross he makes his teams produce in order to keep his heart rate down.

I hope Hughes fails with all my heart and soul...

I hope Hughes fails with all my heart and soul...

Why do you want him to fail?

Hmmm just seen he's left Fulham. Seems a bit of a weak one by Hughes that. I understand that he could possibly be going to Villa or maybe he's left for personal reason who knows but if it isn't for those reasons then it's clear that if he doesn't have the stomach to manage Fulham then he won't have the stomach to manage anyone.

Having Sam Allardyce as manager is a perilous situation for any club. It's just like Blackburn. Think Blackburn are a great side to have in the Premier League, but sorry to say this when he was Blackburn manager I wanted to see them fail so they could get rid of them. Like Blackburn I have so much respect for West Ham and didn't want to see them get relegated this year but with him as manager I don't know if I want to see them back in the Premier League. At least he's not in the Premier League. I just hope Tony Pulis joins him. Yes he may play effective football but for the development of youth and as an example you don't want to be watching teams that are managed by those two men.

As Brian Clough said 'If God had wanted us to play football in the sky, he'd have put grass up there'.

You know there is Euro 2012 qualifiers on tomorrow?

I don't remember as little coverage from the English press towards an England international match, let alone an important qualifying match.

It seems that Aston Villa dont want Hughes after all !

John Terry wants him at Chelsea though. Sparky's wife must be a looker.
