Football League chairman Greg Clarke admits ownership of clubs is a puzzle after Dispatches' revelations

Greg Clarke, the Football League chairman, admits cash constraints at his organisation mean they cannot know for sure who owns their member clubs.

Clarke was speaking in response to an investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme, which showed a Bangkok-based investment group, the London Nominees Football Fund, offering undercover reporters the chance to buy Sheffield United. The show also suggested the company had offered the chance to purchase more than one club, in contravention of Football Association rules.

“We are an alliance of 72 clubs who largely lose money,” Clarke said. “We don’t have hundreds of thousands to get to the bottom of these complicated organisation structures.”

Asked whether he was confident he knew the identity of the owners of every club in the League, Clarke replied: “No, I’m not. There’s a process that lets the League know who the owners are. Who the owners of the owners are is more difficult.”

Sheffield United confirmed that they had met Joe Sim as a potential buyer, but told Dispatches they would have carried out due diligence checks before proceeding.

The Football Fund denied that they, or anyone associated with them, would breach or offer to breach FA or Football League regulations.

Bolton playing in Houston tonight. Temp should be right around the 100F mark so they might all kill over or burst into flames. :p

The new Fantasy Premier League is up ready for the new season. It's powered by EA Sports this year, so the layout and all has changed again.

Looks like you have to manually add your private leagues now that its taken over by EA Sports.

If you're the originator of the original league, you can restart it this year. I don't know who admined the league last year.

Barca is playing on Saturday :D i can't wait

And Barça is playing against my team, SC Internacional, next Tuesday, at 16:15 PM GMT. It'll be a great match, and I hope we manage to beat you for the third time!

but today Barca won't have good players, so i guess it would be more like Barca B is playing :D anyway,it's only friendly matches until the 8th of August ;)

Friendlies, the chance to try out the fringe players to see if they are good enough to make the bench in proper games.

As you may know, River Plate was relegated last season after losing the promotion playoffs (La Promoción) to Belgrano. But River will not play the second tier next season.

The Argentinan Football Association voted for a change in next season's football pyramid. The first and the second tiers will be merged, making a competition with 40 teams.

:stunned: I'm disappointed. I hate Ribe and I was happy when they were relegated :(
