What do you think the sortof possibilities that could lead to Kenny's sacking? Like, is winning the Carling Cup enough nomatter what happens now? I wouldn't have thought so, the FA Cup or even making the final might be good enough, but you need to stick in 7th place, and with 5 losses out of 6 theres now a few times looking to change that.

I think the FA Cup Semi Final could be huge, if they go out, and their league form hasn't improved or gotten worse, it's never a surprise to see a manager go at a time like that. Though its kindof hard to see King Kenny get sacked, but he could jump before being pushed, an official resignation of sorts.

Half time 0-0 Stock vs City, Stoke probably deserve the lead, tense though.

Winning the fa cup should definitely be enough. Anything less and it's anyone's guess. The carling cup might save him. Something must change in the summer. I would love us to sign Rossi and Marin but i doubt they'd wanna be anywhere near liverpool the way things are.

1-0 Stoke! Peter Crouch has just scored one of the best goals you'll ever see.

No, seriously.

People are saying that it was better than Coates' in midweek. Was it?

Ends 1-1, City 3 points off United now.

Coates was a great bit of technique to hit it out of the sky with a slicing bicycle kick, but this was better, he tee'd it up for himself with a little tap of his foot, and without the ball touching the ground he then smashed a volley looping over Hart from absolutely nowhere. It's gonna be shown during football reels for years, one of them.

This might be a long post Reilly but please don't be scared off by it.

Winning the league cup is not enough clearly. Winning the FA Cup and League Cup definitely because I live as a Liverpool fan to see my team win trophies. Not celebrate coming 4th in the Premier League. We can try again next year.

For me Kenny should not be sacked. The players have to take a large amount of responsibility. What Kenny could be criticised for is the buying of players like Downing and Henderson who are doing fuck all. Games are passing Henderson by with like it's going out of fashion. He is making no contribution to the attacking play, no contribution to the defence. I've stuck by him this season saying he will come good because as a Liverpool fan the progress of Lucas taught me to give players time. But even with that lesson I'm not so sure about Henderson now. By the day I increasingly believe he was bought by an English press overhyping yet another decent but not top class English player. The buys in the summer bar Bellamy have not come off. They still can but my god they are testing our patience now.

But no Kenny shouldn't be sacked. If it was anyone else there'd be louder calls for him to be sacked that's for sure. He will be there at the start of next season but in a far more difficult position than he or we envisaged. With each loss this Liverpool team are doing well to scare off any hot talents out there who we could possibly have bought before Christmas.

And Daryl - piss off about your 15-20 years out of date manager theory. When Liverpool thrashed Man City last April 3-0 at Anfield you wouldn't have said that and no one would have. It would have been criminal not to have given Kenny a contract based on our form from the second half of last season.

Other than Kenny I only wanted one other person to be manager for Liverpool this time last year. And that was Andre Villas Boas. What he did at Porto was outstanding in the league and in the Europa League. The style of football he got them playing was exemplary. He went to Chelsea and he got stuffed and shafted. Yes partly he tried changing things to quickly but his philosophy at Chelsea was the right thing. Ease out the old gaurd i.e Lampard and co and bring in proper flair players for attractive football like Mata.

And do you know what - despite the failure at Chelsea my view still remains the same. The only person I would want as Liverpool manager other than Kenny would be Andre Villas Boas.

Spurs will win the FA cup ! They might get a bye into the next round

Managers that have been out of the game and come back after some time and failed..

Sir Graham Taylor

Gerrard Holier

Kevin keagan

George graham

these are ones just of the top of my head...

About Kennys contract, merit given... but normally teams do well when they get a new manager.

I remember pearce doing well in his 1st 10 games.. or so, then it was a disaster..

Kenny had 5 months of excellent form - not just 10 games. And those few months well exceeded the progress (if any) by the managers you listed in their "comebacks". In fact only Keegan at Newcastle after the direness of Allardyce showed progress until he resigned. You do make a good point though about managers coming in and changing things radically from previous barren spells like as you said Pearce and Roeder at Newcastle.

KD shouldnt be sacked. He knows what he's doing and next season our league form will turn around. We just need one or two more quality players who can finish and unlock defences. As for AVB, I thought he was starting something special at Chelsea. He had the right idea but in the end, very few people helped him. Lampard and Abramovich in particular. I would love to see him as our manager one day. If it doesnt work out with KK then he would be the perfect replacement.

This might be a long post Reilly but please don't be scared off by it..........

(No particular part I needed to quote)

I agree he shouldn't be sacked, but I tend to not think managers should be sacked generally, I think they never get enough time. You may have seen my rantings on AVB's decisions this season but I at least felt he deserved until the end of the season, I mean it's not as if Chelsea were 9th at the time, it wasn't a total disaster.

And Kenny well, I think regardless of what happens he should at least be given a run in at the start of next season and see if the players can perform for him. I mean you can say what you want about a select few players not performing but really, how many points have Liverpool thrown away this season? They've been incredibly unlucky at times, but for whatever reason they are like the opposite of Man United, they can play football all day long but they can't score and they don't close games out. After a while we can't just keep saying it's luck, they have played mainly well as a unit this season (Though I agree some of the signings have been useless- and no doubt they've had some truly shocking performances I am aware) and so many times they've come away with nothing when they should've got 1 or 3 points more.

At some point the players performances need to be judged on what the manager is doing to inspire them, the same way a manager in any workplace is judged on the performance of their employees.

I do still agree that he deserves more time, at least until next Christmas unless the start of next season is dreadful, but my post was about how much time he'll be given by the owners, and what needs to be required in order for them not to sack him. So for example a League Cup win, and FA Cup final may please the fans but it might not mean much to the owners, but winning both most definitely would.

We just need one or two more quality players who can finish and unlock defences.

That's it, like I was saying you've been so close to getting extra points in a lot of matches this season, you're missing like a Mata or David Silva. Do I think you'd be way up the top of the league if you had that sort of quality this season? No, but all those points you missed out on, probably wedged into the top 5, not struggling to hold onto 7th.

They still havent given Aquilani a proper chance. He is exactly the type of player we need but Benitez, Hodgson and now Kenny have all overlooked him and sent him out on loan. It's the same with Joe Cole. He has played well with Lille this season. If we can bring them both back in the summer and give them both a chance instead of playing Henderson out of position and letting Charlie Adam get away with some shocking performances. Jay Spearing has been great but he isnt a Lucas who we desparately need back.

dont you get a place in the ropey league if you win the league cup anymore ?

Peter Crouch has just scored one of the best goals you'll ever see.

No, seriously.

saw people on facebook going on about it and I thought "crouch? naww..."

just saw it. dayum.

Good thing I didn't then, as a reply like that would've made you look pretty stupid.

They're showing the Glasgow derby on FSC. Celtic down to 9 men ten minutes into the 2nd half.

Newcastle are serious contenders for the Champions League now. Cisse, Ba, Ben Arfa, Gutierrez, Cabaye and Tiote all are world class. People might have criticised Alan Pardew's appointment but he has donne brilliantly.

Newcastle 3-0 against West Brom after just over a half hour. ^Yeah Ben Arfa in particular is really coming into his own, he's scored 1 and set up 2 for Cisse, and not many people would've called Gutierrez world class before this season but they do now, I've always thought he was quality, its just suddenly now his work rate and fitness is twice what it used to be.

Presuming we've won this (Almost half time now) then we're level with Chelsea for 5th, behind on goal difference, and 5 behind Spurs for 4th. I mean it's a big ask to get us into CL, we would need a strong run, and for Chelseas momentum to slip, and for Spurs or Arsenal to really have a disastrous end to the season, I can't see either of them falling lower then 4th, so I don't quite see us as serious contenders for a few games yet.

Does anyone have a clear explanation as to how the Europa league placings work? Something the commentator said really confused me, or if anyone has a link.

^Nevermind about Europa league explanation, I asked the google man and found out near instantly, d'oh.

Just had another look at Ben Arfa's goal, excellent. West Brom have been a total mess to be fair, it's been easy.

I think we qualified for the Europa League by winning the Carling Cup although we have to begin in the very firsst round. The same as what Fulham and Stoke have had to do this year. Next season is going to be very looooong...

If liverpool have already qualified for the Ropey Leauge , maybe we should not be so quick to be super critical of KD. As he could be expermenting for next season, and keeping his strongest XI for the FA cup semis.

Yeah maybe we shouldn't.
