May 29, 201214 yr I think the opposite of Daryl (naturally) that Hazard's opportunities at City would have been few and far between, its already tough enough for a young developing player to break into that team but they'll probably buy at least one more midfielder this summer. If he had a few average performances for City he'd find himself sewn to the bench or worse. He'll be given a chance at Chelsea, they'll pick him regularly and see it through. I do wonder if he'll suit the Premier League, he'll have to adapt, the players are of a much higher quality and he won't find it as easy to dance around them (Which is mainly what he does) like he did all last season.
May 29, 201214 yr So it looks like it's a choice between Martinez and Rodgers for the Liverpool job. We may have wanted other candidates to fill the role (AVB for me!) but it seems a choice is there now. Tough to say which one I want. I think I'd prefer Martinez over Rodgers. I do think Martinez has done an excellent job at Wigan and without him they'd probably have been playing Championship football, even though Steve Bruce took them to 11th in the table back in 2009. Don't believe Bruce would have been able to keep that up and like all of Bruce's teams they'd become stagnant and rotten and fall back just like he did with Birmingham and then Sunderland. Martinez has defied the odds at Wigan while playing a good brand of football while not having what isn't exactly the best squad of players available. He seems well liked and may have a few tricks up his sleeve tactically (something Hodgson didn't have and in all fairness Kenny lacked as well) which can only be of benefit to Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers - amazed by how his Swansea team played this season especially against Liverpool. The way his side cooly and calmy controlled the draw result at Anfield back in November was indeed impressive as was the last game of the season victory over us at the Liberty Stadium. His philosophy of possession is simple yet effective and his team were outstanding in possession stats. To strangle and frustrate the opposition by constantly keeping hold of the ball was a large part of Swansea's success last season. However Liverpool weren't too bad in possession either and that got us nowhere last season so there is a question mark over that. Like Martinez he'd be well liked by the players and I think he would be able to get his ideas across easily. Remember watching MOTD 3 and was very impressed with what he said here from 3 minutes on. There's some real decent young talent at Liverpool today (thanks to Rafa's reforming of the youth setup - take note Man City) so a lot of emphasis must be placed on developing the likes of Jack Robinson, Raheem Sterling, Conor Coady and Adam Morgan into the first team, particularly the first two so they understand each other and develop a "6th sense". Gerrard and Owen had an unbelievable understanding together only hampered by Owen's injury record and his eventual departure from the club in 2004 (I'd buy Owen back into the club right now as a player/coach - perhaps he could teach a few in that team how to finish!) Too many teams these days don't take account of the fact that the greatest teams are made up of a core like this. That's why teams in Spain (including Spain themselves) are so good. That's why Xavi and Iniesta are such a formidable pair because they've spent so long together that they really understand them. I hope the new manager can in someway incorporate two or three players into the first team together. Be it Martinez or Rodgers Liverpool must stick with him and back him through the rough patches. This has to be a long term appointment. I certainly will look forward to what they have to offer and will back them 110%.

I think he has great potential to succeed and will back him to the tilt. Champions League football is the main aim it seems at Liverpool these days. Can we get into the Champions League next season? It's going to be extremely tough. I don't expect it in all honesty but I do expect progression from last season, which goes without saying really. I'm really very excited and eager to see what lies ahead for Liverpool FC under Brendan Rodgers.
