July 13, 201214 yr Ok it was harsh saying that Man City won't even make the footnotes in history but I have to say I am disappointed that City had to out do Chelsea from a few years ago. It's a form of success that just breeds yet more cancerous traits within football of people believing you have to have money to succeed and that there is no such thing as long term projects in the game any more. I don't see why much respect should be paid to a team that had fabulous supporters but now feel a sense of entitlement on whoever they feel and wherever they go just because of some tacky rich Sheikh. If ever there was a bastardised form of success that's the way to do it. But would I want my team to go that way? In all honesty if you offered me Sheikh Mansour's money right now I don't think I could take it. I love the hope and expectancy of being a Liverpool fan even when prospects can be dire. It's a situation that could see Celtic dominate for the next decade. I said WAY back in February that this could turn out like Fiorentina and it did (who's escalation sped up following the match fixing scandal in 2006). Rangers won't be back for 3 years at least and even then will find themselves well behind Celtic once they get back. Hearts are probably in the best place to occupy the slot vacated by Rangers as the second team of Scotland now. I hope not though and I hope we see more of the strange goings on at that club. I'd prefer Dundee United to be there.

Now we have much better tactical work and passing players instead of the more direct Barton or Nolan, I'm not saying Carroll definitely can't play this form of football but let's be honest he has hardly proved it yet, despite improvement in form towards the end of last season. I don't think he has great instincts or movements with that type of football, his instinct last season was any time Gerrard gets the ball in nearly any position then run towards the penalty spot, I don't think we need to play like that, players like Cabaye and Ben Arfa avoid whipping the ball up the pitch (Not that there's anything wrong with long-ball play to an extent, but it doesn't deliver consistent results and play). If he comes, I'll welcome it, I can't see it really happening though. I don't see why Liverpool would loan him just when hes beginning to improve. Selling him would make some sense, recoup their losses and put it towards another striker, but sending him back in the hope he'll improve further and then taking him back to Liverpool start all over again? No sense in it. Especially if the terms include Newcastle having the option to buy in future (I'm assuming thats similar to the Aquilani deal where he'd have to play a certain percentage of games) because that would be an incredibly one sided deal, what that would mean is that we lend your player out to us, pay his wages fine, if he's great then we can buy him, if he's not, you can have him back and continue the re-building process. That will get rejected. I have found in the end a good number of Celtic fans when this has turned out the way it has have been just as gutted for those of Rangers.. I'm not sure if Celtic fans are entirely gutted for them, as in feel bad for them or sympathy, but they're aware that this has an impact on the status of Scottish football, and the calibre of players that can play for them. I think some dwindling Celtic fans (That would be myself) are now losing all interest in Scottish football and miss Rangers being there simply because it made things competitive. And then there are those I've just mentioned who realise it will have a huge impact on the league, but then there are those die-hard Celtic fans who are delighted, and don't care as much about the clubs status in Europe or whatever, and will happily watch them storm to 10 league titles in a row. Clearly Brendan Rodgers knows what he wants and he obviously feels that up front Liverpool lack something that Carroll just doesn't have. The signing of Borini was not good news for Andy and it has pretty much relegated the big Geordie to the subs bench if he is to stay at Liverpool. I feel very sorry for him. I think he's a fantastic player on the right day and he's still very young but I'll support whatever Brendan Rodgers intends to do.

It was always pretty terrible but now it is appalling. Even the Celtic and Rangers teams from last season couldn't hold a candle to the Celtic and Rangers from 10 years back. The Celtic side at the moment isn't even good enough for the English Premier League. At best they are relegation fodder.

Just though I would let you know as u may be going to see Coldplay and not knowing the game was on and you could start a cracking weekend by watching the match The match is at the Rodgers centre/arena Have fun!!!!
