Not even Man City's last gasp heroics can match the likes of Mo Farah winning gold or even (just to prove it isn't just the Olympics) Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France. August 26, 201213 yr Gutted with a draw. It was an excellent display all round. Kelly and Skrtel made mistakes and Man City took advantage of both of them. Apart from those mistakes I thought Kelly and Skrtel were very good, Srktel especially. Johnson and Coates both had very good games as well. Against an attack that consisted of the likes of Nasri, Balotelli and Tevez we handled them comfortably. Midfield trio of Shelvey, Gerrard and Allen were superb. Joe Allen has only been at Liverpool for a couple of weeks but is already looking every bit of the £15 million player a lot said we paid too much for. At 22 years of age his composure and awareness is second to none in that Liverpool team. Raheem Sterling was superb. It's sad to say that this isn't really a joke when we say he's done more than Downing has in one year at Liverpool. At just 17 years old he could be quite something for Liverpool and England and is probably the best young player to have come out of Liverpool since Michael Owen. Downing, on the other hand, has a great deal to think about with regards to his Liverpool future. Liverpool just shaved the possession stats 51% - 49% which is very good against Man City. I have no doubt though that a few % more and Liverpool would have got that vital 2 goal cushion they needed to seal the win. Give Brendan Rodger's the time and resources and I am confident that will happen. It will take probably two summers before Brendan can get the exact shape of the team he wants but I am more than prepared to give him that time.

I suppose there are still positives to be taken away. Meanwhile Barca losing 1-0 to Osasuna. :o I think you're right but it takes a lot more than a change of manager to stamp that mentality out. They are going to have to learn how to keep a victory by the margin of one goal. So often Liverpool beat these top sides emphatically, by two or three goals. But they can't beat them by just 1 goal. I would have taken a 2-1 win rather than a 3-1 win today just so the players could prove to themselves that they can hold their own at these scorelines. With time and a few more players who can provide a positive impact (like Sterling and Allen) this will give the team confidence going forward in keeping their nerve at 2-1. Brendan will have to lead the players to become more confident in themselves as a unit. That's probably what was most impressive about Swansea last year and indeed this year. Individually not glittering stars but as a unit they are very comfortable and confident in themselves. Also I think this is worth pointing out. On the bench today for Liverpool was 4 players worth £75 million worth of "talent". They were: Adam - 7 m Dowining - 20m Hendo - 16m Carroll - 35m = 15 minutes of playing time On the field in their positions were: Shelvey - £1.7 million Sterling - £600,000 Allen - £15m
