Can someone explain this to me, because I must be wrong as everyone has reported that QPR and Reading are officially relegated: Aston Villa are 9 points ahead, Wigan 7, if both teams lose all of their matches, and both Reading and QPR win their remaining 3, they both go equal with Villa and it brings goal difference into account, meaning only one of them can stay up, but they aren't relegated yet. One of them will now definitely be relegated, but not both (Just talking officially here, obviously they're both doomed).

 

I know it doesn't matter I just find it odd.

Uh, the entire bottom half of the table don't have more than 40 points, so surely by that logic they'd all be dragged into it?

 

But Sunderland would at the very least would be in it as well (Norwich and Southampton couldn't breathe easy either), their game in hand is away at Villa, it's all very tight now and it'd be exciting for me if Newcastle weren't right in the mix. Not to mention losing 6-0 yesterday, that's just what you need when re-entering the relegation battle.

As for RVP getting boo'd so horribly, aren't football fans just beginning to look dumb as fuck? If someone who didn't have a clue about the game asked why this guys getting harassed, well it's basically because he left a team struggling to get to the top where he was by far their best and only great player, to go to another incredibly successful team to win the league AND get more money. The service he's done for Arsenal has been incredible, and whats worse is that players who formerly played for them and been a lot less significant go to the Emirates week in week out and nobody even notices, it's like the better you do for a team the more the fans will hate you when you leave. Arsene Wenger, in typical fleeting style, left it way too late to extend RVPs stay, and the player ends up disgruntled and didn't even want to tour with them last summer because a host of clubs were bidding for him and he would need to talk with those clubs for the inevitable leave.

 

Last night on Match of the Day 2, Les Ferdinand talked about getting a good reception from fans of former teams he played for, including Newcastle, and in contrast with that he was sitting next to Michael Owen, who a decade later at St James Park got one of the most hostile reactions I've heard- well in anything, ever. The reason? He got injured quite a lot and we paid him a lot of money- hardly a sin against the club. When he actually played he was a popular player, hard working, good strike rate for minutes on the pitch, but once a player goes that all gets forgotten.

 

It's as if the only way you'll get a decent reception now is by being one of the clubs best players ever and either running out of your contract or going abroad as it doesn't affect your previous teams chances in the league, like Cristiano Ronaldo received recently. If you don't tick those boxes then prepare for a LOT of abuse, it's mindless.

I generally agree, though it ought be said that the Arsenal fans I've spoken have said they wouldn't be nearly so upset if he hadn't supposedly made a series of promising statements while in London about never wanting to score for another team or something to that effect. I don't think the Torres transfer would have made nearly as many headlines if it weren't for the weird fashion he went about it. That said, for the most part, Robin is just the scapegoat for any and every recent frustration gooners have had to deal with.

Yes both RVP and Torres have made comments in the past about their loyalty, I just think fans need to get over it, Torres in particular was tripped up in one interview questioning his loyalty and whether rumors were true he'd be going that summer (Which didn't happen), what's he supposed to say? There's really no right way to go about it, if players are honest that they're unhappy or want a more ambitious club, then fans are angry that they affect the morale of the team.

So, as a PSV fan, all my hopes are based on Willem II, currently on the last place of the Dutch Eredivisie. If they'll beat Ajax in Amsterdam, the title is still possible.

 

Unfortunately, this Sunday, Ajax will win the Dutch League for the 3th time in a row.

15 years ago or more, definitely not even a foul, if you want to get the foul you've got to stick your leg in and take the studs to the shin, now it's different and I agree with that. Becks is clearly just out to intimidate with his studs, I think the way he puts his arms out he tries to make it look like he's just shielding the player off which is fair game, but I don't buy it, the studs are up, dangerous play etc. send him off.

 

I think the general consensus is that it's a ridiculously harsh decision, as I say, if the opposing player attempts to get a foot on the ball which he should be entitled to do, he gets Becks studs across his shin and that's a red card.
