The Jesus of Uncool: Chris Martin: The Rolling Stone Interview

Featured Replies

I'm so glad he supports Obama and feels that he will win. :nice: And he's totally right about Obama changing the world's opinion about America.

I'm tired of being the 'stupid, brash american' :\

Hallelujah! It's so embarrassing to be an American in foreign countries these days... When I was in England in February I told them I was Canadian! I should just walk around with an Obama sticker on my forehead when I'm back there this summer...

there goes my hopes of Chris endorsing John McCain lol.

and i happen to like fox news and bill o'reilly haha but oh well, chris has his opinions and i have mine.

i do appreciate the love for americans tho, i feel the same about brits.

wow this is an awesome article, i cant wait to read the rest.

right on with obama though. he's gonna put our country back where it belongs. i love chris's frustration too, because we all feel it. im not embarressed to be an american, but im embarressed by a lot of americans, and none greater than Bush.

but besides all the politics which really doesnt have a place on the forum, chris is just an awesome dude. the fact that he joked about being married to someone who dated brad pitt...thats just priceless.

Hey thanks for the interview!! :D It's ashame it was only Chris...

who ever said that Chris is unimportant i am totally disagreeing.

He's the one who leads the band and definitely he have to speak.

if the thing is important for other guys its also important for him too.

The fact who ever denies it its totally the true fact okay!

because you all people denied it it will not change!

Its the fact.

he's the frontman please note it and then he have to lead the band.

And he's the important person of the band!

Chris Martin: I Feared I'd Be the Guy "No One Wants to Have Sex With"

Buzz up!Coldplay singer Chris Martin admits he was a late bloomer.

He tells the new issue of Rolling Stone (on newsstands now), "I had a tricky time with girls until I was, like, 21.

"I got trapped in the friendship tip many, many times," adds Martin, whose band's new disc Viva La Vida drops June 17.

"It was like, 'I need to be a rock star because this is no good: Being the kind of guy that everybody likes but no one wants to have sex with,'" Martin recalls. "I don't want to be the person that makes everybody laugh before they go off and bang. I want to be the guy that everybody bangs."

Still, he admits he hasn't had a lot of hot-and-heavy romances in his life.

He says Gwyneth Paltrow is his only "serious relationship.

"Is that weird? I don't think it's that weird," the singer says. "It wouldn't be weird 200 years ago... Think of Romeo and Juliet."

He says that he enjoys the challenge of being married to the Oscar-winner, with whom he has two children: Apple, 4, and Moses, 2.

"I always felt it would be great to be with a very powerful woman because it would keep you in your place," he says. "Being married to someone very successful and very powerful basically keeps you hungry to improve."

Addressing her relationship with ex Brad Pitt, he adds: "You've got to be hungry. If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you'd want to prove yourself, you know what I mean?"

"I got trapped in the friendship tip many, many times."

Amen! :dozey: I feel his pain, boys stick you in the friendship zone too, it's not always the other way around.

Hmmm, he's talking about Gwyneth! That's rare, but it's nice to hear [or read].

Aye, he shouldn't mention Pitt though, can only lead to bad things.

Didn't he have a serious relationship with that Lily girl, the girl he wrote Warning Sign about? Maybe not, but if my ex boyfriend was now super famous and forgot he ever went out with me I'd be upset

ohhhhh, i can't wait to pick this up. i BETTER find it somewhere on friday!!

talking about gwyneth?! still not saying her name (that's a new thing; i read back in X&Y interviews the other day and he mentioned her more then), but really. i think he's a bit too extreme about not talking about her, but if he's not going to do it, he should stop doing it to certain reporters. well, i guess that's ridiculous, because you know/like some reporters better than others, but it's interesting.

I have to pick this issue up! hopefully I find it out when I go searching for it on Friday!

omg he talked about that? that's personal stuff.

he was on crack, clearly.

shock.

@ Sticker14 - hey, we've had "comedians" at the helm of this country for years now, and we haven't done toooo badly (but times they are a'changin):dozey:

YAY!! STEPHEN COLBERT - CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!

:P

Libertarians don't have "leaders", unlike Democrats and Republicans. ;) We tend to be rather anti-authoritarian. Bob Barr could be a turtle with stickers on his shell for all I care - just so long as he's not growing government, increasing taxes, and starting unconstitutional wars, I'll be happy!!

I reckon everyone can agree with that last sentence!

Thanks for posting this. Does anyone know when the issue will be on sale?

haha maybe explains the dancing politician video where bush was featured multiple times!!

But good article. Want the rest!

He's had a bit of a change, seems... talking about personal stuff but it can only be for the better

I bought my copy this afternoon at Jewel-Osco. The review is also not too bad with the album getting 3.5/5 stars.

Insomnia Fuels Chris Martin's Creative Process

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin rarely shares a bed with wife Gwyneth Paltrow when he is writing music - because he works at night in a hidden corner of their London home.

The singer confesses the creative process is a tortuous one for him, and his best lyrics are often fueled by insomnia.

Martin, currently promoting the band's new album Viva La Vida, tells Rolling Stone magazine, "My problem is that I often take a sleeping pill in order to go to sleep, but then I get excited about a song, so I go and play music, and then it kind of kicks in halfway through. I have a little corner where nobody can hear me in the middle of the night, and that's where I spend most of the night times. I wake up the next morning and find these strange notes to myself. I'm a little bit ashamed about it."

:laugh3: Aww... I can kind of relate, I usually do my best creative stuff after I'm supposed to be asleep.

I like that he's talking about personal stuff more, and what he said about Brad Pitt is funny :P hopefully people wont take it the wrong way....

I definitely have to buy this tomorrow...

aww, this is like exactly like me, minus the sleeping pill thing. my brain only seems to churn out its best stuff after 1AM. and then i say to myself "no, i really should be sleeping..." and write all these notes down that i can barely read in the morning. figures.
