my first reaction is :dead:

i hardly know how to elaborate at this point. with VLVOD, i decided to reserve almost all judgement on it till about october, and i'm glad i did. with X&Y, i was much too quick to lavish praise on it, and then when the "shine wore off," so to speak, it felt a bit more like a letdown. i didn't want to do the same with VLVOD, and i'm glad i didn't. i only started being convinced that it was fucking amazing last month.

but since this is really an extension of VLVOD, i don't have as much of a problem with immediately saying this is fucking amazing.

LIT II might as well be one of the best things they've ever done. i said that about the original LIT and didn't think lyrics could possibly make that piece of fried gold any better, yet i was colpletely wrong. the lyrics in that song are MINDBLOWING, as is chris's vocal performance. and the music itself of course.

i love postcards too. i think any longer in that style without other instruments or vocals would have been a bit much, so i think it's the perfect length. it makes me think of walking around london in a trenchcoat on a rainy fall day :P.

glass of water is mindblowing. the POWER in those refrains...they think they can't handle "heavy." the emotion and energy in the choruses are EPIC. i can't wait to feel that song live.

rainy day is awesome, really different. is that jonny in that part where they say "the deeper that the knife goes in..."? i hope it is :nice:. i think this is a completely awesome song, but perhaps not my favorite on the EP for now.

prospekt's is better than it sounded to me in the preview...i LOVE the first part with basically just chris and the acoustic guitar. it's so beautifully sad...it makes me think of some devastating, fairytale war.

lost + is cool, i'm actually a bit of a fan of jay-z's addition to it. i just *kinda* wish coldplay left out lost+ and lovers in japan on the EP to make room for two more fucking mindblowing new songs. but hey, we CANNOT complain.

lovers in japan is one of my absolute favorites off VLVOD, and i like the additions of the oohs, it makes it seem more like it is live, which was one of the most epic experiences of my life.

now my feet won't touch the ground. oh my fucking god. that first verse KILLS me. i can't get over how beautiful this song is. if i'm being picky, i would have left out the brass and kept it more parachutes the entire time, but AHH. this is one of the best things they've ever done. it's till kingdom come, but better.

i was listening to it walking back from class today, and it was snowing and i was crying a little bit, it was all so beautiful. i bet people thought i was insane, walking around crying, but it hits me in exactly the right way, that first verse.

It`s pefect!!! Please everyone listen a Glass of Water.:P

ok...pheww i feel like crying (such a baby haha)

LiT II- definitely the one i anticipated the most and it was so worth the wait. makes me feel warm and fuzzy. i love it.

Postcards From Far Away- gorgeous and simple, what Coldplay does best of course. only, i wish it was a bit longer!

Glass of Water- this song is really sweet. which i guess is a dumb thing to say, but literally, i find it sweet. like its just yum to listen to. lol wow. comparing coldplay to food.

Rainy Day- it might be too soon to say, but this might be my favorite song on the ep right now. idk, its just so random and weird. i got goosebumps listening to it. :nice:

Prospekt's March/Poppyfields- okay, this song reminds me of coldplay down to their core. not much else to say except i like it a lot lol. oh and i do like how the lyrics kind of refer to Prospekt as person? maybe i misunderstood...idk the lyrics are beautuful.

Lost+- i love Lost! and this remix is cool, but I wish it was more different than the original. Jay-Z's rap is a nice addition though.

Lovers in Japan (Osaka Sun remix)- I love lovers in japan. The remix makes it even better somehow.

Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground- LOVE the acoustic, reminds me of Till Kingdom Come alot, but it's really great. Nice and simple way to end the EP. Coldplay always knows how to wrap things up. :)

Overalll, i REALLY love this EP. It's a perfect little companion to VLV. In two words- Pretty Epic.

:pleased:

I have been anticipating the album for a long time. And I am sorry to say this, but I feel really disappointed :(

Life In Technicolor II indeed IS a great song. But the fact I had already known it from VLV spoiled the whole thing to me. Besides, I think the intro and the entire song is too long.

I do not know what to think of Postcards From Far Away. It is unlike any other Coldplay song, but does that mean better?

Glasses of Water is not as good as I expected from the previews. I thought it would be a little more lively and therefore better. Albeit the live version may be really ok.

The tune in Rainy Day rocks, but I don't like Chris's voice on this one. It is really similar to what he presents in Yes, not quite the best song on Viva La Vida.

Prospekt's March is not even close to what I expected. Just a bad song I think. It has the spirit of Parachute's Coldplay but it is not even nearly as good as Yellow or Shiver.

I miss Jonny's guitar solo in Lost+. I don't reckon Kanye's rap is worth abandonning it.

I think the Osaka Sun Mix of Lovers In Japan is some kind of a joke. The song is really good, but what the heck changed? I do not find it worth placing on Prospekt's March tracklist.

Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground reminds me of my least favourite track from VLV, The Escapist. It's just not good.

Despite all the negative things I have said about the EP, as a true Coldplay fan I am surely going to buy it. It has the atmosphere of old songs by my favourite band, which are not really the ones I like most. But I think it was fun to hear some new stuff from Coldplay. I just hope they will not retire in 2009 and the EP will grow on me :)

It's just fucking incredible!

I disagree on Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground, I think it's awesome. PM is decent, it gets better as it goes on. Glass of Water is one of my favourite songs now, and I agree about Lost+...

Oooh my arms and legs have gone all goosebumpy!

This coming from someone who hasn't heard the whole E.P. But I think you're looking at it the wrong way. Namely, please people, stop looking at this from an album perspective, and comparing it to X&Y and VLV!(not talking to you so much as the coldplaying community) Really all we're getting are essentially four new songs. That does not an album make, and it's idiotic to say it's better than any of the LP's.

But back on topic...

1. They cut short the intro in LIT 2 so why is it too long now?

2.Judge postcards from far away in your own way, but people don't like it just because it's different, but because it's a beautiful piece of piano. You may disagree, but just pointing that out...

3. Of course Prospekt's march isn't going to be as good as shiver or yellow, it's essentially a B-side, sounds like your expectations were a bit high.

4. About lost+, again you're thinking of it too much like an album. If they thought the solo was worth abandoning, they would've changed the VLV version. This is just a different version that some might like. ignore it if you like.

5. Again, the osaka sun mix it's just a different, more radio friendly mix of the song. It's not a joke, nor is it supposed be radically different. They just thought they might as well put it on the E.P.. don't be upset because they included some extra songs you don't like, at least you got them.

6. #1. The Escapist isn't really a "song" IMO. just an outro. the album ended with DAAHF's. NMFWTTG is just a way of closing the album, don't compare it to clocks or whatever. I guess the jist of this post is...don't be annoyed by extra songs you don't like.

I think all the new songs are superb. The remixes of the VLV songs are nice too, although the only difference in the Osaka Sun Mix is the little high refrains during the second chorus, other wise its the same mix as the album version.

Rainy Day is so radically diffrerent than anything they've done before it should be the next single !

WHAT AN E.P!!!!!!!!

LiT 2- Everyone loves Life In Technicolor, so imagine it even better and you get LiT 2!!

Rainy Day- Soooo Different but brilliant, I love the opening!, Amazing, SOOO FUN

Glass of Water- Brilliant with a great ending! :D

Prospekt's March/Poppy Fields- I don't understand which ones which but It's a very good song, the chorus seems to come out of nowhere :P

Lovers in Japan (Osaka Sun Remix)- We all know it!, just a tiny bit different and maybe even a little bit better!

Lost+- To be honest I thought Lost was the weakest song on Viva, and Jay Z makes it even worse, so not very good! :P

Postcards From Far Away- Short but B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

Now My Feet Don't Touch The Ground- A Bit of a dissapointment, I've only heard it once but I am sure it will grow on me!

CONCLUSION: A Great EP! :D

Of course I've heard the whole EP. I think it's natural to compare the songs to the ones released earlier. I know we're getting 4 new songs. But the point is, they're very average four new songs.

Oh, and I also watned to say I enjoy Postcards From Far Away. But I reckon it's not worthing being on the EP. It could be a digital release, like Death Will Never Conquer.

Mmmmmm. :nice: More like this, please!

Sorry, no words. :speechless:

LIT II: I think it was just perfect! I loved it to death and I wonder if they will be playing this version at some of their shows, especially in England.

Postcards From Far Away: Beautiful, live and on EP

Glass of Water: Enjoyed it very much, liked the lyrics tons. :D

Rainy Day: A bit eclectic, but in a good way.

Prospekt's March / Poppy Fields: Nice lyrics, nice song

Lost+ : Not my favorite. I didn't like the Jay-Z additions, but I don't hate it, as there is a Coldplay song I DON'T hate.

Lovers in Japan (Osaka Sun Mix): Not really a big difference from the album version, but I did catch those "Ohs" in the song.

Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground: Not a bad song; I thought there were too many references to this particular lyric (this song, LIT II, & Strawberry Swing) but I liked it anyways. The beginning guitar for some reason, took me back to X&Y. It almost sounded like 'Til Kingdom Come, but maybe I'm just hearing things...

I need to actually listen to this EP over and over again when it officially comes out in the States to become hopelessly obsessed with it. :P

Glass of Water is absolutely epic; it represents the Coldplay I have come to know and love throughout the years. As I've posted in this song's sub-thread, I am extremely disappointed with Prospekt's March. Oh so disappointed....

I liked every single Coldplay record up to date, but I find this EP to be very disappointing. There's not a single song that'd blow your mind out.

For me, the highlight is Postcards from Far Away, a beautiful piece of piano, I wish it was longer and with lyrics... Everything else seems to be mediocre at best.

I'm starting to appreciate their earlier work more and more. I wish this EP had a song that'd be as good as A High Speed, Such A Rush, Bigger Stronger, A Ghost, For You... In my eyes, it doesn't.

I absolutely love Life in Technicolor II- it gave me shivers when I first heard it. Love it!!

Glass of Water is beautiful!

I like Lost + but I would of liked to have Jay-Z a longer part in the record.. more of a collaboration. ( I think I may be the only one who thinks that...oh well haha)

Rainy Day is so cool! What an awesome opening!

The lovers In japan (osaka sun remix) is awesome..

I have to listen to the others still..

Prospekt's March is such a beautiful song. I love it. Also, GLass of Water is EPIC!

I don't have the time for an epic post saying how epic this EP is at the moment, but I'll get around to it tomorrow.

Epic.

Oh, and by the way:

squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! :D

thanks for writing this- I loved your review :) and I agree completely with now my feet wont touch the ground- it is absoultely beautiful. I would have done acoustic guitar all the way too - theres something about chris martins voice and an acoustic guitar together that theres nothing else in this world quite like. And its snowing- I think I would have cried too listening to that song in the snow- if it ever snowed here :)

For the people a couple of pages back who were wondering when it leaked- It leaked at about 1:45 AM EST last night... It was an incredibly long night for all, since first someone who had it already teased us by posting about it, but then refused to leak it. People got embarrassingly nasty, but then someone else (are we allowed to say names?) found it at Kmart and leaked it for us!

After listening to it about a billion times today, I can say that this EP only gets better the more you listen! Especially Glass of Water :D

I love the new EP!!

On the website that we get to listen to it on-- http://www.los40.com/especial/coldplay/?foto=5

did anybody notice the pictures of the band at the bottom of the page? If you keep clicking them, new ones come up and they're so cool! I guess they were from some photo shoot for the magazine or something but they're awesome! I want them!
