So I take it you don't think that note he added at the end was enough? LOL:laugh3:

Did he add an extra ding, as he called it, at the end of each dinging section? I listened to that crap over and over and I did not hear that extra ding he was talking about. I loved how he said that since he added an extra ding that it was not the same as Queens/David Bowie. LOL!! What an idiot!!! Now that is what you call plagiarism.

BTW....What did Queen/David Bowie get out of that incident. Did they get all the royalities from that song because he did make a lot of money for it or did they just want credit?

the "ch"? :laugh3:

I swear everytime I hear that riff on the radio I get my hopes up, but they get crushed when th "ice" flows in.

Well, I agree. I was just saying that because of the courts in this country and how they like to reward money on any and everything.

Sorry Tracy, me jumping the gun again!

You listen to a radio station that actually plays Vanilla Ice?:laugh3:

Anyway, we should be getting the first reports of what state the boys were in tonight in a few hours, I'm interested to know...;)

EDIT:

From Wikipedia corcerning the Vanilla Ice thing:

"

Rob Van Winkle drew controversy by claiming that he owed no royalties for using a bass line almost identical to "Under Pressure", citing one minor alteration. Although no lawsuit was ever filed, the rapper supposedly settled out of court, and songwriting credit was retroactively given to the members of Queen and David Bowie.[1]

Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight claimed his friend had written the lyrics to the song, and forced Van Winkle to sign the publishing rights to him. It was reported that Knight had allegedly dangled Van Winkle by the ankles over the balcony to get royalties from the song. Van Winkle denied these claims, stating "They had some papers there and Suge took me out on the balcony by myself [...] He took me out on the balcony, and he had me look over the balcony, ya know. And I looked over and he basically says to me, 'You're gonna sign these papers here. You wanna come to my city, you're gonna have to pay to play, brother.' And I go, 'OK, I got the picture, ya know.'"[

Me too.

I think they'll be fine though. They've known about this for a while and I would have hoped they had built up a level of professionalism by now

They best be in good spirits...I'm seeing them tomorrow :P

I'm mainly worried about Chris saying something he shouldn't and pouring more fuel on the fire...

LOL. usually no, only when I'm in a friends car or out of town. I generally default to an independant station that plays everything from classic rock to local indie bands, however I was really dissapointed when they started playing Katy Perry and amy winehouse. :dozey:

Ditto.

He knows what he should and should not say, he's not stupid, but tends to ignore it. When he last mentioned it Will told him not to say anything but he did anyway.

Fingers crossed he can see that it would be detrimental to them now if he made a joke about it.

"however I was really dissapointed when they started playing Katy Perry one day."

She's got a Grammy nom now too...:(

Ditto.

Still trying to think of a popular artist that rhymes with Bo Matriani...

Perhaps it's a garbled pronunciation of Bob Marley...:laugh3:

:laugh3:

It's a shame Coldplay didn't pick up any grammy's in 2006, since we're sure to clean up this february we could've been on our way to a record by winning grammy's off every single album...but u2 had to go and drop a dismantled bomb on us...

absolutely, absolutely, completely, perplexingly ridiculous. there are two or three notes that are the same (the "rule the world" part).

does anyone have any idea how many songs borrow chord progressions from other songs? or pieces of melody? there are seven notes in a major scale. to sue a band that has composed brilliant music because two or three notes sound similar is just the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard.

and, good god, satriani is perhaps the best example of what happens when you have loads of talent but a lack of vision. if it goes to trial, great. maybe then people can gain a least a partial understanding of the way in which bands and artists have borrowed from each other for decades.

yes, there are two sides to every story. but this seems strikingly one-sided to me.

If you want to get super technical, one of the remixes of Talk did win for someting, even though that didn't go to the band. Anyway it's an unfair playing field as U2 songs seem to be eligable(SP) in purpetuity until the win.:laugh3:

There is no getting around it the chorus in Joe's song does sound like the beginning of the verse in 'Viva La Vida' the chords are almost identical. It's just one of those things, Coldplay haven't stole it it's just a coincidence. You can't always be 100% original when writing music anyway, you only have so many notes and chords you can use. I think Joe might win, maybe they'll have to give him a sample credit or something.

When was that Mich? Is there video footage of Will nervously elbowing Chris in the stomach to shut him up lol?

"Is there video footage of Will nervously elbowing Chris in the stomach to shut him up lol?"

If so, I love to see it...

The Yahoo gig in New York in October. Someone said how good Viva La Vida was and Chris said something like "It is, but like 20 people are suing us, saying we stole it and we didn't, we honestly didn't!" Then he looked at Will and said "can I say who?" to which Will replied no and then he said it anyway, but under the cunning disguise of a rhyme  Mo Batrani or something.

I'll find the video for you :)

^^ interesting... haha I love Will, always keeping things under control :D

Will is their leader.:D

Very interesting. Also interesting how the band all seem relatively relaxed regarding the subject there. Perhaps that's at least one good sign.:)

cool thanks :) ha Chris is so clever. Mo. :laugh3: and ^^ yeah it's good to see that they're not concerned about it.
