Featured Replies

I always thought they said "John Povert aside" in What If.

And apparantly they say "jump over the side"

^

Also I thought the beginning line to Daylight was "To my sunrise, in my daylight" when it is "To my surprise, and my delight"

push my but from the highest cliif in the seas below @ Now my feet won't tough the ground

but should be boot..

Okay, what the hell does Chris say during the third verse of The World Turned Upside Down? You know the one:

"...All of the surface and the underneath

Suh geo mellow and a sex a key, oh uh

And everything under the sun"

Has anyone figured that out?

EDIT: I forgot there was a lyrics section of the official website, so I went to look it up:

They don't even include that line!

Since that is one of my favourite b-sides, I have looked it up before... One source (can't remember which one) says that nobody really knows what the line is, since Chris made it up in the studio as he went along and doesn't remember the lyrics (I don't believe that, haha, 'cause there's some back-up singing, which means that somebody, i.e Chris/Jonny/Will/Guy must have known what the words were).

The line I've seen floating around the net is 'Searching your mellow and outsings your key'.

It's kind of jibberish.

On the subject, I thought that he sang 'Hide and sob and away they fly' in The World Turned Upside Down. But it's actually 'Pilots; up and away they fly' :P

Phew. Long post. Sorry. :P

In Clocks, I always thought that it was "shouldn't I pull of my head?" instead of "shoot an apple off my head" :P

In A Rush of Blood to the head I thought it was

"Starters you need to go on"

instead of "Start as you mean to go on"

And in Viva la Vida for the longest time I thought it was

Roman CATHOLIC choirs are singing

instead of calvary :laugh3:

*bump*

Here's a couple of intentional ones I've noticed over the past few years:

Escapist: 'And, in the end, we lie awake, and we dream, we'll make an arse-cape.'

We Never Change: 'We never change, do we... we never learnt to read...'

And an awkwardly unintentional one from LiTii:

Original lyric: 'Time can only lead you on...'

Misheard lyric: 'Time will leak and lead you on...'

No jokes, I actually thought these were the lyrics.

I just recently listened to the studio version of "One I Love" I had always listened to the live version and I always misheard "tie yourself to a mast" as "tie yourself to a marshmallow" :\ I know it didn't make any sense but that's what I heard :laugh3::laugh3:

In Clocks, I always thought that it was "shouldn't I pull of my head?" instead of "shoot an apple off my head" :P

I thought this was the lyric too, for absolutely ageeeees.

We Never Change: 'We never change, do we... we never learnt to read...'

:lol::lol:

Hold on, I thought it was marshmallow too!

Whenever I listen to "Murder" there's a part where Chris mumbles something, but it's not written in the official lyrics. It's between the verses, I cry murder; come spit at us.

It sounds like he whispers/mumbles, "I slide on a monkey." But I know that can't possibly be right. Does anybody know?...

when I first heard What If, I though the line "You know that darkness always turns into light" was: "You know Brachiosaurus turns into light" I was really into dinosaurs when I was a kid so I thought that's what it sounded like :laugh3:

OMG!! I just caught myself, I thought viva la vida was " I heard terrorist's bell's a ringing" but it's obviously Jerasualem Bells. Im embarrased

I didn't listened to COL for almost 6 months because I misunderstood the "God is in the houses" lyric and I thought it was a.........swear :|

Gesse, I just realised on the last page that this was an old thread and I read the entire thing, so I kept seeing people say "Whoa I love your avatar, it's soooo funny!" or something and I couldn't figure out why people were saying things like that since people have obviously changed their avatars over the past 2 years... :/

^lol, it happened the same to me a lot of times!

I used to think that the line in The Hardest Part "everything I do just comes undone" was "everything I do's just cumbersome"...yeah...

Latest one of my misheard is from Charlie Brown.

Instead of "When they smashed my heart into smithereens"

I heard: "Whey they smashed my heart into Slytherins"

And I was like "WAIT IS HE TALKING ABOUT HOWGARTS??? They like Harry Potter" :o

But then I googled it. :P

I never figured out the lyrics of ''A Whisper'' I always heard something like:

I hear the sound am ticking of clocks and remember your face and remeber she when I am lost:P

It actually is:I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks who remembers your face who remembers you when you are gone. And all the other verses I never figured out untill now (I searched the lyrics):P

In strawberry swing I thought "They were sitting" was "In the city"

In cemetaries of london "Where Victorian ghosts pray" sounds like "Where the tools grow straight" and "Where the witches are and they say" sounds like "Where the witches are all insane"

I have a few misheard lyrics from Chinese sleep chant.

"Soup, soup is fine." (sleep satisfied)

"I slip, gently " (fall asleep fall asleep)

"Sweet sours fire"(sleep satisfied)

"Soon soup"(sleep, sleep)

"sweep, snow is fine"(sleep satisfied)

This video has a few misheard lyrics from violet hill

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvyylrG1qZU&feature=BFa&list=LLTEs9wsse9OKRDhe_IA8d2Q&lf=mh_lolz]Coldplay - Violet Hill (With Lyrics) - YouTube[/ame]

Up until about the time I joined this forum, I thought the Violet Hill lyrics "My nerves are poles / That unfroze" were "My love opposed, unfolds"

And then in Clocks: "Trouble that can't be named" --> "Gerbils that can't be tamed" :laugh4:

And I had no idea at all what was going on in Rainy Day when I first heard it :P

Gerbils that can't be named! ROTFLOL! LOL :laugh3: That's making me laugh.. sorry LOL

In Violet Hill:

The real lyric is "hollowed out to fit their rifles"

I thought it was "I rode out to fate their rifles".

I prefer my lyric better.

I have been trying to figure this out for quite a while. It sounds part-sensical, part-gibberish.

Although, until we discover what is actually being said, I like, "I slide on a monkey.".

haha all winter we had candy.... hey maybe they did.

warning sign: "you were an item and I passed you by"

or talk: "let's stalk let's staaaaaaaaaalk

I always thought "You were an item and I passed you bye." was the lyric. Wow. I've been hearing it wrong for quite some time!

EDIT: Ah, so it's "island" and not "item". Hm.
