mrs. chris martin
really? well, i again that wouldn't really make them the biggest band b/c they're only played on not-so-listened-to stations. the big stations that play all the chart-toppers & have about 1 million listeners a day have never played a coldplay song except for clocks 6 years ago

If there's a raidostation that plays Viva and at least one person is listening, Viva got a play. No matter how many people actually listened to it. Okay, maybe that example is unrealistic, but ... I think you know what I mean.
Bonus_mosher
why does anybody really care what other people think about coldplay? yes, it's frustrating, yes, it's opinionated but who really has the effort to argue everytime somebody says 'I don't like coldplay' just let it go. You're never going to change people's opinions. if they want to waste their time hating on coldplay, let them. their loss.
Stefan8
The Arcade Fire is way bigger, they have like 7 members and Coldplay only 4.
2day
Anyone who generally tells me coldplay is shit usually runs the risk of me verbally abusing the crap out of them, until they realise they shouldn't have started anything lol. Seriously. I'm sick of all the people saying 'oh Coldgay' or 'Omg gayplay!' or bag out Coldplay in any form or shape.. it just annoys me. It's just like a generic response. At least have some reasoning behind it all! While I don't have a reason why they are the biggest band in the world 'nor does anyone else possibly', I think it's just that they are good at doing what they do best. Coldplay <3 :)

Maybe in your country, but not here in Australia. I'm 17, wanting to work in Radio. I can argue hours on end that Coldplay do get airplay, and more so on one station in particular... 2day FM Sydney. That's the station that I have grown up to, and love. Pretty sad that I sing station promotions, ads, and all that jazz, but hey thats me. I'm sold to this station pretty much. I know a lot about it. Pity management there don't know I exist lol. Now back on topic. Songs here are on a rotation basis of around 1 and a half hours plus, more recent songs being closer to that time frame, whilst older songs are around the 2 hour and beyond mark. Coldplay.... hmm, Coldplay. 2Day is Sydney's biggest station. Considering I know a lot of stuff from that station, I can almost tell you when songs are programmed.. Is it sad that I almost know their programming/schedule? lol. Viva La Vida is played between 9am-12am, Violet hill doesn't get much, but when the concerts were here - 50 minutes of Coldplay songs were done back to back. Although it's not played too many times a day, it's usually played in the times where most of Sydney is listening. Other stations? Nova, although they are 2Day's and my Rival, they play Coldplay quite a bit. They were the ones that were supporting Coldplay. ___________________________________________ I don't even know if all that was necessary LOL. I think i'll shut up now lol... probably scared a few of you away :(
illuvcoldplay
I think that people are being very immature about the whole thing.. I love SOAD and also Maroon 5 and Linkin Park and Plain White tees and Linkin Park and Korn but I just love coldplay the best. That dosent mean that I'm gonna call Collective Soul fans names....people need to grow up and respect the likes and opinions of others and give Coldplay the respect and recognition they deserve

One of my friends always calls them "Gayplay".... uh! It makes me so mad and he puts himself in a very vulnerable positon, not my fault if my locker door makes contact with his face... just saying. Anyways, Coldplay is incredible and that's indisputable. I will argue with a hater for ages.... and trust me, there are a lot of haters in my school. mksh24
I hate how they get that title because it is like where do they go from here... And it makes me feel like they will become sell-outs even though I feel that is a slim chance of happening.

chuck kottke
Once upon a time, on a planet similar to ours, but with a different set of stars, there lived these two super bands. One went by the name "The Rolling Stones", and the other band called themselves, "The Beatles". In the continents below, a fan battle ensued, fighting over who was the greatest band on earth. Who would win, and what measures of success were considered legitimate? Well, I honestly can't remember, but either way, everyone had a rip-roaring good time going to concerts, rioting in the streets, and chasing the band members to keep them in great shape.:P

yellow44
Well, come on! Yeah some might call Coldplay a ninny band, but HEY! I mean how can you judge them against other bands? For those of us who like (i mean love) Coldplay, we love it way more than those people hate it.
Carla
If you've never heard Coldplay in your life and only what the media and the rest of the public told you, you would probably assume Coldplay is a non-crappy version of...Kevin Federline. :stunned: :stunned: :stunned: why did you choose to compare them to Kevin Federline? That's beyond insulting!

2day
That's alright... just ignore em. The ones that say 'Gayplay' or 'Coldgay' usually have the personality of a brick wall. Should smack them with someone's handbag if they ever say that in public in the face! I know, as I said it's annoying.. but oh well. I love Coldplay. It's all that matters :) <3 :)
djcheezymix
I have to say... I've never met many Coldplay haters before. I think most Singaporeans actually like Coldplay or are ok with their music. Hate is wayy to strong a word to use.. And what's so gay about Coldplay anyway? Their music style? Obviously the haters aren't very exposed to different types of music.. Strawberry Swinger
hate[/url] they get it's hard to believe they're the most popular. If you've never heard Coldplay in your life and only what the media and the rest of the public told you, you would probably assume Coldplay is a non-crappy version of...Kevin Federline. I guess my question is, how can these guys be the most popular band in the world right now despite all the resent towards them? And how do you deal with "taking all the shit for being a Coldplay fan?" Personally, I insult the haters back (usually they like stuff like System of a Down or Blink-182, and they're normally my friends anyway so it's all in good fun), but sometimes I might get into a debate. However, just like religious/political debates, they're pointless and nobody ends up changing their mind. :P the best ones have always been the most hated ones. being a fan of Michael Jackson,I've learned to bear with it. haters are losers who have no interests of their own - nothing to hold on to. isn't it much better to just stick to what you love, and what you don't - you don't care about it and everyone is happy. btw, coldplay is not hated here where i live. even if they were i couldn't care less. i love them and that's the only thing that matters. :)
anniea89
Other stations? Nova, although they are 2Day's and my Rival, they play Coldplay quite a bit. They were the ones that were supporting Coldplay. As a huge Nova fan myself, I can tell you that VH and VLV were on high rotation last year. They were even playing Lost! and LiJ, and were one of the only stations I heard those songs being played as singles. LiT ii is also getting good radio play. Problem is, radio doesn't want to let go of VLV (the song) which is amazing in one respect, but a little sucky in the that the songs that are meant to be singles aren't getting much airplay. So i've finally run into a rival listener as well! lol! Yups, agreed. Yep, i'll admit LIT ii is played a bit [it's the only station really that I have heard play it regulary], but I don't really hear Violet Hill [that's probably because I listen to 2Day 24/7 :P]. But yeah, I can't really vouch for Nova. I could probably work it all out, but nah, Nova is a rival lol. They do play Coldplay quite regularly though. I think they've taken it off their palylists though.
