May 2, 200917 yr About the tracklist, I think Clocks should have been replaced by, say LiJ or preferably God put a smile upon your face/Talk. They have already released like 5 live versions of Clocks... but this is just me whining. They are the best for doing this for us, and I've been hoping for a release of the live version of The hardest part since last september, so now I'm all :dance: :wacky: And about that article, they make it seem like EMI have no idea the band are going to do this. Of course they now how much money they're 'losing'... somehow I don't think the boys can give away a couple of hundred thousand albums without the record company noticing... :escaping: :sneaky:

May 2, 200917 yr Just another example why they are the best band in the world :cool: Every Tom, Dick and Harry will be giving away free CD's after this (maybe not albums though!). Giving away CDs at concerts for free is hardly new though (Prince is the first example that comes to mind). Hopefully another massive band doing it will inspire a few more imitators, though! I am a bit disappointed there's no GPASUYF/Talk, it would be really nice to have an official release of that.

I have news for you!!! PRINCE WAS THE FIRST!!!!! During his 2004 Musicology Tour he gave away free copies of his Musicology CD to every concert-goer!! In fact a free CD was on every seat in every arena!!!! Then what about 2 years ago, when Prince struck up a deal with UKs Mail On Sunday Newspaper and gave away his new CD at the time, Planet Earth, with the paper??? Its a pity that not more bands like Prince and Coldplay dont do things like this for their fans!!! Maybe Coldplay should look into going independant, like Prince has over the past 13 years since he left Warner Brothers!! Prince claims that hes made more money since leaving WB than he ever did from sales and box office receipts of his mega pinnacle project, Purple Rain(particularly from his first 3 CD set as an independant, Emancipation), cos WB basically took the lions share of all the profits and sales and left him with nothing, which is why in the 90s, he changed his named to that symbol and was seen publicly with the word "Slave" written on his cheek, cos he "divorced" himself from the guy whose name was on the contract he signed with WB!!!!! EMI is just paranoid that they are gonna lose money from this, thats all!!!!:veryangry2::veryangry2::veryangry2:
May 2, 200917 yr I think the record company will make even more money by this "freebie" CD not lose out. What about people going to the shows just to either keep other people company but who are not really fans themselves, people curious to see Coldplay live, people with free tickets, people who "just want to go to Wembley" etc etc. After seeing the concert and hearing their free CD when they get home they may then fall in love with Coldplay's music (who wouldn't ) and go and buy the whole back catalogue. The positive PR and brownie points the band will receive from this won't do them or their record company any harm either!

Its sales far exceed the petty number (by comparison) lost by this live CD.
May 2, 200917 yr i think fix you is there to make up for the fact that we had no twisted logic tour album. but otherwise i'd agree I agree... plus 'The Hardest Part' is on there. However, the Talk Holland 3-disc set was pretty close to a Twisted Logic tour CD. It has seven live tracks, of which one is 'Fix You' and I think it's my most prized Coldplay possession! :dance::escaping: It's nice in a way to not have 'Yellow' on there, ha... There are SO many live versions of that. Other than 'Clocks' and 'Fix You', it's a good collection of songs that we don't officially have live. Also, maybe those two are 'special' versions in some way?

But I agree with Bryce, it looks more like EMI hasn't so much control over Coldplay or need them so much that they let them just do.

That is correct, if they wanted to split from the label it'd be relatively easy to do now because they could easily release a greatest hits (they are included under contract deals).

May 2, 200917 yr Aside from the amazing generosity of the band, and the gratitude being shown by us fans... Am I the only one who thinks this is kind of nice, considering everyone who criticizes Coldplay thinks of them as a giant, corporate-controlled musical act. Attention haters: This is a real rock band, and they will do as they please regardless of label names and sizes. Stick it to the man, Coldplay!

Now, wasn't it Coldplay's Rule to ONLY release ALBUMS from now on (yes, coldplay.com said this is a live album) to be 'No longer than 42 Mins', and 'No longer than 9 Tracks'? I guess this gives us plenty of space for an extra hidden track!!!
