a "space & time" documentary (which to be honest...isn't very exciting :laugh3:)

and "sonnet, this is music, the rolling people, lucky man and love is noise" live at coachella in april 2008

New albums pretty good. Its an exciting varied listen.

Not Urban Hymns and not A Northern Soul either.

Its pretty wordy with some electronica and guitars.

Kinda like you'd expect a 21st century shoegazer album to sound.

Noise Epic is my fav so far.

Can't find an obvious second single here, can anyone?

im not the biggest verve fan, im into a handful of songs. i like valium skies though on the new album, and im wondering if i should buy the whole thing. i'll probably check out the songs on youtube or something before i really decide.

Just bought the album on Itunes. It's my first Verve listen (I've never heard any of their other albums), but it's pretty good. They sound a bit like Radiohead on the first track.

At first I was really disappointed with the album but it's definitely growing on me! Sounds a bit too much like a Richard Ashcroft solo album with more interesting guitar work and bass lines, I was hoping for more experimental/psychadelic songs like stuff like Catching The Butterfly and Neon Wilderness, or maybe some really spacey Storm In Heaven type stuff, but I guess in their 30s and not strung out it would be kinda fake if they were still making music like that. The album has definitely grown on me though, I love 'I See Houses', 'Noise Epic', 'Valium Skies' and Appalachian Springs'. Most of the tracks are very good actually, but I still think it's their worst album - better than Ashcroft solo though!!

I am absoutly loving the new album! Its great ;)

New Official Promo Video For "Rather Be" :D

[ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1v1m4DhucY]YouTube - The Verve - Rather Be[/ame]

wow thanks!

still no tour date in Italy... I'm so sad

If Valium Skies isn't the next single, they are out of their minds.

Yeah, Rather Be imo is a rather poor choice...

It just doesn't give enough guitar love.

Columbo has to be the next single.

This song is Verve in perfection.

Did The Verve ever tour?

Did The Verve ever do a US/North American tour for Forth?

barely the europe...

I agree about the video... i was rather unimpressed. I do like the song but the video was pedestrian. "Judas" is my favorite track on the album, because of the lyrics and construction of the song and the very emotional way it makes me feel. I remember when I first bought the disc, I kept listening to that song over and over and one day thought, "when I was in New York, I was Judas too." Which is weird, since I haven't been in New York all that much and I certainly didn't get a latte from someone who called me Judas lol

But that just goes to show the strength of music, like good fiction... it sticks with us, has meaning to each person, moves us.

(When I read Interview with the Vampire, it had such a profound impact on my life and felt so rich and real that when Hurrican Katrina happened, I remember one day starting to cry, thinking Louis would be so sad to see what had happened to his beloved home. Silly as it sounds, that's how real fiction can be!)

What are all the B-sides of the last album ?

  • 1 month later...

Bumped because I felt like it...

Anyone here have "A Storm In Heaven"? Its a drug in and of itself. "Beautiful Mind" is in my top ten songs of all time...

I haven't read that, I know Ashcroft is contractually obligated to release another solo album. If they did break up (again)...I wouldn't be surprised. Its tough to come back after ten years.

The gigs don’t work- The Verve finally call it a day

They’ve had more break-ups than Britney Spears has had breakdowns, but I can exclusively reveal that The Verve have now well and truly split.

The legendary indie band have been blighted by rows since forming in 1990. It turns out this time band members Nick McCabe and Simon Jones have not spoken to lead singer Richard Ashcroft since their gig at V Festival last August, despite trying on numerous occasions to hold out an olive branch.

“As far as Nick and Simon are concerned The Verve no longer exists,” a source close to the lads tells me. “They think Richard was just using the reunion as a vehicle to get his solo career on track.”

The Britpop boys announced a reunion in June 2007 and went on a sold-out tour, releasing number one album Forth last summer.

But the old tensions soon came back, centred on guitarist Nick’s wild partying.

“Their management called Simon and Nick in for a crisis meeting in September. They were told that Richard refused to tour or work with them again as long as Nick continued to drink. He quickly cleaned up his act.”

But it’s not as if Simon and Nick are sitting on their bums waiting for the next reunion – they’ve already started up their own band, apparently called The Black Ships.

Nick writes on his MySpace page: “The Verve seems to be on holiday and shows no sign of not being on holiday. I’ve been hesitant to breach Official Secrets-style policy with any missives from the, well, from any front, basically. Don’t ask me anything about the big V. Just let me enjoy my non-alcoholic Piña Colada.”

Simon told fans: “The Black Ships are coming!”

My mole says: “There have been too many problems to put behind them. If Richard came back with cap in hand they’d tell him to f*** off.”

NO WAY

wow, that's sad, but hey more music from Nick, and I can assume Ashcroft will put out another solo.

Reading this really disappointed me because I thought they would, but I mean, after a break-up and 10 year hiatus, things would be too good to be true. I thought they'd at least have one more record in them, but Forth was decent enough to keep me satisfied.

No!!! :bigcry: this cant be real , one of my dreams is to see The Verve live :(
