I can't help but notice in the last couple of days that the fastest growing segment of the population around here was born sometime between about '95 and '97. I think it's a wonderful thing that so many generations can interact here freely without all the usual judgment and schisms that come from age differences.

 

But I was also a leader in Brownies for a number of years. We weren't allowed to escort a girl anywhere near the washrooms without a group. Every single thing we did had to be clearly above board and transparent for a very good reason. It is the responsibility of the older person to make sure that everything is always appropriate.

 

Prying into younger members personal information, talking them into letting you have facebook access, and privately manipulating them behind the scenes like has been described here may be entirely innocent, but it is very inappropriate and it certainly isn't transparent.

Normally when people ignore him it doesn't last very long for many reasons. So I payed very close attention to his behavior once an entire group had finally succeeded in doing the seemingly impossible. It was a group of mainly teenage girls who had set up a thread full of -basically- pure girl talk. Something he had nothing to do with. He interjected non-sequiters every few posts. When no one reacted to these he went into other threads and whined about how unfair it was that he was being ignored by these girls. His behavior in the girls' thread became more and more erratic up until the moment he was banned.

 

I can only assume that either they finally reported him or he reported them for ignoring him. Either way, I think this ranks as conclusive proof. Mark needs attention.

Unlike your usual bored teenage troll however, he seems to be genuinely trying to get something out of this place that he needs in real life that we cannot give him. He is trying to interact with all these teenagers but expects them to act like his version of what adults are. They are not adults, they are teenagers. The fact that he seems to need them to, and the way he inappropriately acts towards them and pries into people's lives leads me to believe that although he may be benign, he is in fact the sort of person your mother warned you about- older men trying to pass themselves off as a teenagers on the internet for their own agenda.

But this week has made me realize just how inappropriate his behavior has actually been. There are children on this board and for lack of a better term the way he treats them can be very creepy. Ren I could only scan that topic for the longer posts (Which for Mark were only 1 or 2) and its insane just how insane he is. His mind is consumed by himself, even the way he quotes you in that debate, he'll literally take a part of a sentence (Not just paragraph) and use it to vaguely reverse an insult onto you which is completely irrelevant, and leave out the part of that sentence which actually mattered.

 

OK so the more I find out about Mark, the more it actually depresses me (Like Jo just posted, it made me sad reading that, Im glad it was said but its still sad) and Ive found out a lot through this thread and as suggested, checking the last few threads he posted in- which have been a real eye opener (Especially how he ignores Cooky Monsters very blunt and intelligent request to leave them alone, within 5 posts hes doing the exact same thing! Pretty well sums things up! Although, as such an obvious troll, I personally think he should be permanently banned, and imho the mods have a right also to free speech when attacked by him (which they often are).

Yeah when he first started posting here I had the same thing, I consistently bashed him and wondered why everyone else put up with it. But this whole thing reminds me a few years ago when I had a friend beside me and I was on Coldplaying, at the time I was in a feud with Mark, my friend asked me who this guy is and I said something like hes this 40 something year old guy who spends LOTS of hours on this board and posts like 200 a day. And my friend found it very weird and creepy.

 

By that time I wouldve known him a few years, and I suppose you get desensitised if you get used to him being around, you forget. It is weird and creepy to be middle aged and spend a lot of time trying to impress kids with puns and jokes, and often chatter which is going absolutely nowhere other then just being able to have a conversation with them (I notice he does that with newbs a lot).

 

I dont like to think people are beyond help, but if he actually does a gigantic multi-quote to 30+ pages of slanging, then yeah, way beyond.

 

But actually often he doesn't multi-quote in one post he stretches it out over many to get as much attention as possible.
