Glee creator Ryan Murphy has revealed some of the artists who will be featured in upcoming episodes. Speaking to E! News, Murphy said that Coldplay and Bryan Adams had refused permission to use their tracks, but revealed that Lady GaGa will be covered soon. "We're doing an episode that's a tribute to theatricality," he explained. "We reached out to Lady GaGa and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it'. So we will be doing Lady GaGa this season."

Murphy also revealed that Madonna was helpful when he asked her permission to make an episode based on her songs. "I've worked with Madonna before," he said. "I admire her greatly and I'm friends with her a little bit socially. I called her up and wrote her a letter and said we want to write up a tribute to you and she said yes and she co-operated in every way possible. We do ten songs altogether. Jane [Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester] is going to do 'Vogue'."

Meanwhile, Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, revealed that he will perform with Neil Patrick Harris when the How I Met Your Mother star guests on the show. "We have two duets," he explained. "Aerosmith and Billy Joel."

Glee returns to the US on April 13 on Fox and continues in the UK on Mondays at 9pm on E4.

WOOOOTS. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

kinda glad that Coldplay wouldn't be overshadowed.

Haha, Glee is like a guilty pleasure of mine. Don't think I'd like to hear a Coldplay song done by them, though. So good news :P

That's my boys :smug:

It's probably a blessing that Coldplay said no to Glee. I like the fact that they try not to publicize themselves so much. :smug:

GOOD!

WILL IS GOD ;)

Yes, of course he is. Respect his authoritah!

I knew this would become a thread today. Me no like Glee :dozey:

I think they're silly to say no personally

I personally love Glee, but I don't know how I'd feel about their songs in those types of choral arrangements.

Ditto. It would have taken their music to a new audience and shown that they can have fun. This will be fodder for those people who see them as pretentious rock stars who take themselves to seriously.

Lighten up, guys!

exactly!

I absolutely love Glee. I don't think they should have turned the show down completely - they should've give them the rights to do just one song - it would just be a friendly thing to do. After all, if Glee's been given permission to cover a Beatles song, no band can think they're good for the show. ;)

That said, I'm sure the boys had their own reasons for saying no, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. :D

I agree... But I also think that each band has its own "image" which is always a big part of who they are. I think Coldplay has always kept a more 'reserved' image, trying to emphasize only themselves playing their music, and take away the attention from all the other things that often come along with the business. They have always - I think - put emphasis on 'keeping the mistery', making that an important part of who they are as a band. It's a whole image that comes along with the product, and ultimately it's part of who they are. They've always been focused only on making music, and playing it, always keeping the mistery and trying to get people to focus only on that. It's the image they have sold along with their music. So while I really enjoy Glee, I think having their songs on the show would have taken away a bit from this essence. That being said though, I personally wouldn't have minded seeing their songs on the show, and it would have - without a doubt - reached people who don't listen to them since Glee is getting so popular now, and as you said, shown their fun side!

Maybe EMI had a say?

You'd think EMI would be up or anything that could make them a bit of extra cash! :P

Thank god they said no. Good for them. Not giving in to crappy teenage commercialism.

...lol...

oh coldplay is such an unknown and alternative band
