Coldplay say YES! to Glee

Featured Replies

Its difficult isnt it, well I happen to like GLEE and love Coldplay.

To listen a coldplay song in glee will be cool, is a feeling of -Im happy they recognize how much Coldplay has touched many people in different moments of their lifes-

So its no big surprise for me they want to use a song; my life will be fill with coldplay's music if I made a video out of it, because of the feeling or the lyrics and Im not the only one, there are over what? 2 million fans or more who feel the same way.

Music is such a huge part of a person and Coldplay its been present in a lot of people lifes.

For me is kind of obvious they want to use a coldplay song or several.

I respect the band if they dont want to be in, they have their reasons and will continue to respect them if they do go on with it.

And surely will love their music forever.

I just don't understand why Ryan Murphy would lie and say Coldplay refused the offer?

I'm beginning to think maybe the record company said no on their behalf without ever asking for them - Murphy has no reason to lie, he must have thought they refused

Coldplay apology Gleefully accepted

As Glee became a break-out hit, bands lined up for a chance to have their music performed by the William McKinley High kids. Well, not everyone. Most notably, Canadian power ballad master Bryan Adams and British soft rockers Coldplay said 'no'.

But writer-producer Ryan Murphy has told The Hollywood Reporter that not only has Coldplay changed its collective mind, the band's entire catalogue has been made available to the show.

"At the beginning a lot of people didn't know what we were and asked to see pages (in advance), but I refused because I didn't want to set precedent of them having any involvement," Murphy said.

"My favourite rejection was Bryan Adams. Coldplay and Bryan Adams were really the only rejections. But Coldplay called a week ago and said, 'We're sorry, you can have our catalogue'."

A nod from the Glee kids can lead to a lucrative pay-off for a song's writers and publishers.

Their version of Journey's Don't Stop Believing reached number four on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart a year ago, while a Madonna-themed EP hit number one.

Oh now I can see why they said yes!

They need the money, that's obvious.

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

They'd be stupid saying No with all the money.

ROLL IN IT BOYS

Oh come on, it's not like they need the money. Clearly not why they agreed to let Glee use some of their stuff

What's the hype with this show anyway? Everyone seems to love it.

I must admit, I am a Glee lover and if they use a Coldplay song in there I won't be complaining!!! :D

More like Mr Guy Hands needs the money, really.

Anyway, I would like to voice my very loud disapproval, as Glee is a horrid show that I cannot stand to watch. Too tacky, too happy.

Money? They need giant fortified fences around the beehive to stop the crazy fan girls from getting near.

Or to pay Brian Eno's inflated charges.

Or pay me to listen to Apparatjik.

There's some reasons.

I agree, something's wrong...

;)

I dunno, Glee is an award winning show here in America and it is well loved. It has nothing to do with making lots of money, they don't need it, the exposure of them to a wide audience in age is what appeals to them. It's huge over here, their not stupid.

Well certainly nobody was insulting their intelligence

Having 3 kids softened him ;)

I don't watch Glee and since I don't know the show well I've got nothing against it but I do wish they use Coldplay's music.

YAY! This is great. I love the show, I don't get the hate. If they choose a the right song, they will do it justice.

I kind of like Glee too, but whenever they've done a song I like (like something by Queen) then I find myself cringing. Soo...

You know what would be really cool? If they actually appeared on the show as a band, not only Chris:) Time for Jonny, Guy and Will to try out their actingskills XD

:D That would be so much fun! :nice: I get the feeling they would all be hilarious.

I don't mind because it means that Coldplay will start being played lots on the radio again after the show is aired.

Although I know when I watch it, it'll be one big CRINGE.

Yay! I love Glee! :cheesy: They make terrific covers, IMO.

I actually enjoyed the Queen songs they did.

Of course, there's no guarantee it will be good, when they cover a Coldplay song, because Coldplay is the music closest to my heart and I'm therefore biased.
