November 25, 201015 yr haha - i've ordered food so i suppose i'll just write now my impressions empty stomach or not. there were sandwiches but i hadn't realized really. i think i also mistook my hunger to be feeling sick. either way, i guess all in all that what we got to do was cool. i know they said we can say this, so we were in Coldplay's video for Christmas Lights. I suppose I might leave out what we did just so that it's a surprise, but I'm sure someone else will say. Either way, what we did involved standing outside in the cold for a long period of time while repeating ourselves quite often. Of course, one would expect as much in a video shoot. That said, I'm not sure if I don't feel a bit used after all this. I realize the band couldn't tell us what we were going to be doing, but if I had known I doubt I would have come. This is Thanksgiving for Americans, and my school was doing something for students abroad - a nice dinner and everything at some place in London. In comparison to what I was doing on the boat, I've got to say that'd be what I'd have preferred. Certainly, I had some built up expectations. But I honestly think those were even relatively small. For what we had to do, I honestly don't believe Coldplay did us a favor. I feel we did them one, which is why I'm surprised all we got out of it is to be "immortalized in a Coldplay video forever". I think this might sound bad to anyone who wasn't there, but I don't think I was the only disappointed party there. And to be honest, I didn't even have to go to that much trouble to be there. My expenses were a forty minute train ride there and back. Some people did a lot more than me to be there. Even though it was really cool to meet other fans and enjoy that moment together, I feel we sort of got shortchanged. I don't feel the band meant to do that, but I think with what they asked of people, there should have been a greater disclosure of what would take place during the night. Not a full disclosure, but at least something that said, "you'll be outside in the cold for a long time and we'll wave to you". Because frankly, I feel that's all it was. I'm tall, so maybe I'll glimpse myself in this video. But a lot of people won't be seen...but I can't speak for them. I'm eager to see what everyone else though. Perhaps, I'll feel better about it all upon seeing the video and having a fuller stomach. I'm really sorry if this disappoints anyone. I'm really not a negative person, so I'm kind of surprised at how I'm feeling about all this.
November 25, 201015 yr So very exciting. At first when all the talk started about "maybe we're going to be in a video" I thought no-way. Everyone was being silly, but now to know it really happened! That's so awesome for you guys. I think it's great recognition for the coldplaying fans to get to be in a video of your favourite band. What could be better? I guess when the video is out maybe you'll be allowed to tell us more?

Apart from that, as nobody really knew what was going to happen we built up a lot of expectations through our discussions here and maybe not you but some others who took the trouble of travelling from far away might have felt a bit disappointed... thank you for sharing :nice:

November 25, 201015 yr well I feel extremely lucky: we got to listen to the song before everybody else, just floating on the Thames and we get to be in our favorite band's video. Come on...that's pretty great.

I understand you feel "used" - that's the exact word I thought about when I saw the whole point of this "special night" was to shoot a video. But at the same time...you're right marie/pims. It must have been awesome to have this opportunity! So how's the song? Great or GREAT? ;)

November 25, 201015 yr Thanks for sharing, Footyfan, I completely understand how you're feeling... But let's go back to the facts, like a few people did here before me. The Coldplay crew said there would be a little thing on a boat : Q&A with McGuinn, Miller, and a few surprises. Finally, you were all shot for a Coldplay video, and you saw the whole band, even from far away. What's more, you met a few members of the crew and had a party on a boat all together. It still sounds pretty great to me. All the other things, about meeting the band, having a private concert or that kind of stuff were only (too) excited speculations... Anyway, have you been told who was directing the video?

They could've got any drama school in or around London to provide extras for free if they wanted to save cash.
