June 3, 201115 yr i've been thinking all week they would announce the album release date with the new single coming out. obviously this has been a good press situation for them, they have drawn people in through facebook/twitter/website and there's a lot of buzz in a lot of circles. Even Pitchfork mentioned it (for those who don't know, Pitchfork are kind of musical snobs - although i like them). Point being, the world is going to be tuning in tomorrow. What better time to announce? Rather than wait for sometime during the festivals. It all makes sense. Hopefully we get a good date. Not something four months off!!! It'd be fantastic if it was within 6-8 weeks but that's just hoping. Sooner than that would be UNBELIEVABLE!!! Either way, I'm cautiously optimistic about the buzz for ETIAW and hope I like it myself!

June 3, 201115 yr Well playing 7 new songs at festivals and releasing album 4 month later doesn't have any sense, but who knows, so far LP5 has the weirdest promotion out of all previous albums.
June 3, 201115 yr My theory; - The album is finished (the last couple of months have been very silent: R42, website updates etc.) - They played (rehearsed) 7 new songs at the family and friends gig 3 days ago. - Their concert at Glastonbury is going live in cimemas worldwide. What better time to release the album worldwide right after the concert... Where they played the new songs for the first time for all their fans! Call this wishfull thinking if you like, but it all makes sense.

Sure, it's great thing for summer festivals, but summer will ends and what people will listen in winter or years and years later? Now I understood that Coldplay wants to play it safe, they want see ours reactions, and then decided what to do next. Unbelievable. Fcuk, screw LP5, drop Eno and made something new. I don't want my favorite band become Lady Gaga which use existed melodies and can't record something fresh. Jeez. Coldplay fans should rebel. The more critic they will heard today, the more changes we could expect in next albums.

I don't even know how can you judge the album already and say it's not fresh when you haven't heard it yet :thinking: You are worried about what are you going to listen after summer ? Well you know what ? There will probably be anoter single more appropriate for winter but for now ETIAW works as a great summer song.
