Siriagus
The photo was incredible. Great job! I'm pretty sure the lyrics are correct. This is definitely my favourite LP5 song so far. I love the colours and the grafitti concept and the lyrics of this song fits perfect! :D
huds601
Hey all, A couple of minor changes to the lyrics based on what I've heard... (in bold) Hurts Like Heaven (uncompleted) Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark?' It's so cold it's so cold It's so cold it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine' It's so cold it's so cold It's so cold it's so cold See the arrow that they shot, trying to tear us apart Fire from my belly and the beat from my heart Still I won't let go Still I won't let go of Youuuuu Ooooo you - (he did not finished that) Oh you use your heart as a Weapon, and it hurts like Heaven Streets and Bars and a Pavement of Saints, and at the Streets are rising and you'd rather sing, don't let em take control, No we wont let em take control Yes, i feel a little bit nervous, Yes i feel nervous and i cannot relax, i'm coming round to get us i'm coming round when they don't know the facts, so on concrete canvas and a glow in the dark, concrete canvas, i'm a "making a mark", armed with the spray can soul i am down with the spray can soul with youuuu *I originally said I was 95% sure this was 'spray and soul' but having cleaned up the sound I'm more swayed towards spray can as I think I can hear the 'C' mid sentence... Oooooo.. oh Youuu Oooooo.. Yes you, you use your Heart as a Weapon, and it hurts like Heaven woooh woooh Its true, when you, use your Heart as a Weapon, it hurts like Heaven. Basilica
Ok, here are the (final?) lyrics to Hurts Like Heaven with the right interpunction and spelling: Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you're missing the mark?' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold See the arrow that they shot, trying to tear us apart Fire from my belly and the beat from my heart Still I won't let go Still I won't let go You Ooohooh (…) Oh you, use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Streets and bars and a pavement of saints And at the streets are rising and you'd rather sing 'Don't let them take control No, we won't let them take control' Yes, I feel a little bit nervous, Yes, I feel nervous and I cannot relax, I'm coming 'round to get us I'm coming 'round when they don't know the facts So on concrete canvas and a glow in the dark Concrete canvas, I will make you a mark Armed with the spray can soul I am down with the spray can soul You Ooohooh Oh, you Ooohooh Yes, you You use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Woho-ooh Woho-oooh It's true When you Use your heart as a weapon It hurts like heaven
coldplaykb
I think it says "Fire from my belly and the fuel from my heart" or at least it make sense that it does. I'm probably wrong though, but it still sounds good :P
ohyesitslaura
I could be wrong, but he's been using the rebel theme a lot so I feel like it says "Streets and Cars and a Pavement of Saints, And now the Streets are rising and the rebel sings, Don't let em take control, No we wont let em take control" just a thought, I'm not positive though
huds601
I think it says "Fire from my belly and the fuel from my heart" or at least it make sense that it does. I'm probably wrong though, but it still sounds good :P It's definitely beat. Have a look at these two comparisons... We know for certain that the line starts 'Fire from my belly..." and whoever wrote it has a very distinguishable 'b' in the sense that it looks similar to a 'k' written in a joined handwriting way. That same 'b' is present in the word that would be 'beat'. On another note, although he doesn't sing it in the Rock am Ring version, I now believe in the official lyrics the line starts 'Like the fire from my belly...' (see the extra words at the start on the left). Secondly, if you look at the blue circle, I no longer think the first line of the third verse is 'See the arrow that they shot...' but instead just 'See the arrow they shot'. There's no 'that' written...
42rock89
Thought it was great from first listen but still gets better with each listen, would be a great album opener!
Blue Nails
Just thinking a few things: Yes you do (what he didn't finish) Oh you, use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Streets ... cars ... saints (I hear a C) And at the streets arising you'd rather sing (or maybe sin?) Don't let them take control No we won't let them take control Yes I feel a little bit nervous Yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax Are coming round to get us Are coming round when they don't know the facts So on concrete canvas ... glow in the dark ?? Concrete canvas I will make you my mark Armed with a spray can soul (it says on Chris' guitar) I'll be armed with a spray can soul

periahdark
I think I figured out the concrete canvas part after seeing some Of the pinkpop videos. In pretty sure it says "on a concrete canvas under cover of dark. Concrete canvas I'll go making my mark"
coldplayisawesome
Now that you say that, I think you're right. It makes more sense. i think it kinda makes sense, too, but it's hard to tell, because none of the recordings i can find of HLH are clear enough. :P it might not be right, though; it does sound more like he says "pavement of saints," so.... ColdplayingfromKansas
The 'under cover of dark' bit definitely makes more sense Okay, so I've gone through and compiled the lyrics that I think make sense in this context: ~ Written in graffiti on a bridge in a park 'Do you ever get the feeling that you’re missing the mark?' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold Written up in marker on a factory sign 'I struggle with the feeling that my life isn’t mine' It's so cold, it's so cold It's so cold, it's so cold See the arrow that they shot trying to tear us apart Fire from the belly and a beat from the heart Still I won’t let go Still I won’t let go Ooooh Oooh oooh Hey! 'Cause you do Oh you use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Streets and cars and payments of saints And now the streets are rising and a rebel sings "Don’t let ‘em take control No we won’t let ‘em take control" Yes, I feel a little bit nervous Yes, I feel nervous and I can’t relax They’re coming out to get us They’re coming ‘round when they don’t know the facts Oh on a concrete canvas under cover of dark Concrete canvas I’ll go making my mark I’ll know that spray can soul Oh I’ll be down with spray and soul Ooooh Oooh oooh ooh Oh ooooooh Ooooh ooooh Hey! Yes you use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven Oh ooh oooh Oh ooh oooh ooh It’s true When you use your heart as a weapon It hurts like heaven ~ Anything that looks like it needs changed? coldplayisawesome
^ i'm pretty sure this part: I’ll know that spray can soul Oh I’ll be down with spray and soul is actually: Armed with a spray can soul I'll be armed with a spray can soul but other than that, those seem fairly accurate to me.
foxeh
'Cause you do Oh you use your heart as a weapon And it hurts like heaven He actually didnt sing that Line, he lost his Plektrum. if you didnt know already. Streets and cars and payments of saints And now the streets are rising and a rebel sings I think he sings "Streets and ... and Pavements are Saints" as a Methaphor "And the Streets are raising and you'd rather sing" So he uses the Methaphor from the "Streets" for a new Methaphor
